Supper club -Fridat, Jan 25

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jan 25, 2019 1:44 am

Good morning,

We have had a nice couple days here, Found a few small bargains in the flea market, and met some people parked about 50 yards away from us. They just came from Lake Havasu city. Another camper near us in Georgetown went there when he left TX and theis couple knew him! Small world

This morning we say goodbye to my sister. We both have 340 miles to our destination for tonight. We are going to Bakersfield to an RV park that is set right in the middle of a huge Orange Grove. You can pick an entire bag of oranges every day that you are there and they are so good! Bill wants to stay two nights Because our next drive will be another 350 miles and he gets tired.

Velda, I sure hope your machine is easily fixable and you can take it home with you. The good news is that there is so much stuff to see in San Antonio while they work on your machine that you may wish they would keep it another day!

Irish, sure hope your roads are clear but it will give Ruby some time to strut her stuff if not. My DDIL was raised in Fort Myers, having movEd there from Pennsylvania when she was 10 ! I like the idea of embroidered shamrocks.

Chickie, you are so cold! I did tell you, didn’t I, that we got to talking with another couple in Mexico and they live in Cherryvale your next town over? And they did recognize your last name but said they don’t really know you. Another small world incident. Im sorry you lost another friend. You’ve been to too many memorials lately.

Becca, I can’t live without books. I can’t go to sleep without a book on my face. But because I can’t quilt all I want and read it all I want that’s why I also have audiobooks for when I am doing other things - that way I get to read and sew, cook , garden, clean, etc! Some of my reserved books have come up while we have been gone and I have had to let them go.

Jana, got snow?

Tina, how is everybody feeling at your house?

My supper plan for us is to take a couple of mini neat loaves out if the freezer to thaw as we travel. Tonight, I’ll pop them into the oven with a couple if potatoes. And toss a salad.

Good morning!

Mary - yes we have snow! But most of all we have cold! I have a friend from Concord who just after we moved here, she moved to Bakersfield.. She is a quilter too, but I will bet she is down south at R2CA. 350 miles, is that putting you at the base of the Siskyou's? I am lousy at mileages. Michael is better, he says up 99, 350 miles is near Daniel, or Sacramento.

Dinner tonight? I am still under warm blankets and haven't even thought up breakfast. LOL! But chili and cornbread could be a good idea.

Enjoy!

Good morning! We are cold here, too. It was 11 when I fed the birds. The pond is iced over—no open water. Everything was covered with a thick frost that sparkled in the morning sun. We are now a bright overcast (as opposed to an oppressive, dark cloudy day).

Mary—what fun bargains did you find? Lake Havasu City has the London Bridge. It had just been installed when Mom, DD and I drove to CA in 1985. It was a fun tourist stop. I’d love a good orange!!! The ones here are rotten in the middle. It hurts to pay $1 for an orange only to cut it open and have it spoiled. So… no oranges. You did tell me about the people from Cherryvale. Isn’t that funny! Small town, Kansas, and you run into them!

Becca—The wind was blowing last evening. The dogs kept thinking someone was outside, so they would go out and bark. Finally, the wind calmed and so did they. Unfortunately, with no wind everything is covered with heavy frost.

Jana—with your altitude, you are probably colder than we are. I’m not so good with mileage, either. I saw R2CA was happening. That would be a great show to attend!

Irish—are you packing? Your Irish Chain quilts will be keepsakes!

I’m going to work in my sewing room today. I started mending my cousin’s quilt, and I’m about ready to cut a batting piece. I pieced the back and mended seams yesterday as well as cut off the rest of the backing which had been turned to the front for a self binding. My cousin didn’t get enough backing to make a binding, and I don’t like to pull it around to the front, so I’ll see if I can’t find something to bind it with and do machine binding.

Dinner tonight—leftover luxury sea crustaceans courtesy of our hunters. I need to make a vegetable to go with it and maybe some rice. DH brought home 4 packages of beef liver today. One of the guys had it and got tired of hearing his wife gritch when he wanted her to fix it for him. I’m pretty excited. No gritching here. I have a package thawing in the fridge and will make it tomorrow night. Poor Mary, I don’t think she tolerates either of my dinners… Sorry! I’ll consume everything before you come back to visit!

Bon appétit!

Good afternoon from a very cold but very sunny, SW. Pa...Kind of fools you when you look out the window but just step outside and you quickly remember, ugh!...BUT, 1 more sleep, as Chriss, would say and hopefully the big bird will fly me away....Did have a text from Kathy this morning, she's back in Miami, only in the high 60s but then had to add, Cozumel was 85 and then even had the nerve to send me a picture of the beach....(She used to be my favorite DD)......

Mary, I've never "known" anyone who has more friends in all parts of the country like you...No matter where you go...And if it's someone you just met, before long, you're good friends...Any time you find some bargains is a good time...On our schedule for next week, I plan on taking the gals to one of the biggest flea markets in Florida..As many times as I've been there, I've never been able to go through the whole thing..Thank goodness the airline doesn't charge for that extra bag.....But, years ago, I did mail some of my clothes home because my suitcases were too full....Going to be quite an interesting week or so......

Chickie, Jana and Becca...Everyone is cold! Let's all hope and pray with the end of January, maybe we'll have a break in the cold......

Today is kind of busy...Been on the phone and packing.....

Haven't decided on dinner.....

You all have a great day....

Happy eating..............

Good evening :) I'm sliding into my chair late.
Everybody seems to be better today thankfully. We did have an incident this morning but I think the juice Easton got from his sister was bad, he was find after.
We took these 3 grands out to eat with us and it was my turn for Dad so we picked him up too :) we had a nice supper at Si Senor and the kids were all good!
I gave Frankie, Easton and Preston haircuts this morning and then I gave Preston and Easton their baths, I was exhausted after lunch and fell asleep. Woke up just in time to get myself ready to go.
Mary, those are yummy oranges where you're staying, I can honestly say ;)
We still have the kids, I better scoot.
Tina
