Supper club, Thursday, Dec 13

Good early morning,

I can’t even blame the early hour on Scottie. I woke myself up up today. And of course, he and Foxy had to run to their dishes and start barking snd meowing for early breakfast.

Chickie, i have a hair appointment this morning at 10 for a cut. I wonder if thry do streaks. I do love your pink. You are getting it redone. Did it fade? Just wondering if i did one how long it would last.

Becca, your storm was a doozy! Your generator couldnt have been better timed. So glad you didnt suffer any damages at your house. And that you have heat and hot food!

Jana, how much snow did you get? Or are you still getting it? We are to get a windstorm starting mid-morning and lasting through rest of day. We will batton down our hatches and may have to pull in our slides. Snow is predicted for counties to our west but i doubt we’ll see any of that.

I talked with my ftiend, Carol, from home. She was having girls night at their Seattle condo. She ate CLAMS and got food poisoning. She was sitting on toilet, barfing into waste basket, and fainted. She said the waste basket broke her fall or else her face would have hit marble floor. She ended up with two very black eyes. She looks awful. And she’s hosting a Christmas party at their home for her husband’s business associates tomorrow night. So she is going to make up her face to look like the Grinch, hoping to camouflage her bruises. Poor Carol! She is such a sweet quiet person but these kinds of things just seem to happen to her. And, of course, you all know the moral of this story, don’t you??!?

Yesterday we grocery shopped and i came home and made two batches of Easy Peanut Butter Fudge, packaged it up, and made a few deliveries to friends. Today is chiro, hair, short errand, and home to hunker down out of storm. Tonite’s feast will be hash. Yum?🥺

Well good morning, again!

I just had a sneezing fit and bumped the wrong key on my tablet and poof went my post!

Ethan will be here in awhile, before school. Sarah is the guinea pig for her friend's senior college projects for his degree in music. He is also the conductor for Sarah's big choir, and gives her voice lessons. So, Sarah will be singing this morning and we take Ethan to school.

Not much here. Need to get some groceries and will see what lands in the basket for dinner.

We only got a couple of inches of Utah powder. We have a neighborhood that watches and takes care of us. One that lives in the next block, called to make sure that Michael didn't go out to shovel, as they would come and use their snowblower. So nice to be watched and cared for!

Mary - what a owie for your friend! Grinch green would hide most anything! So glad to read Vicki has been quiet. Let's hope and pray, it stays that way. I love hash! Michael doesn't. When I eat it, Michael calls it dog food!

Sarah and I will be baking cookies today. We are trying a new sugar cookie recipe that needs no chilling before rolling it out to cut the cookies. We have a ton of cookie cutters. Also a chocolte version of the same dough. I want to use the chocolate versions for my snowflakes.

Well, let's se if I can get this post not to poof,

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! We are dark and gloomy here, but the rain hasn’t started in earnest. It was supposed to commence at 10:30 last night and go all night, but nothing happened. It’s starting to sprinkle now. In anticipation of the rain yesterday I packed my sisters’ gifts and Mom’s in a trash bag and put them in my truck. I’ll deliver today after my hair appointment.

Mary—hope we don’t get the wind today! Rain will be enough!!! I wish I didn’t have to go out in it! My streak last month was temporary. Since it was over my white hair, she wasn’t sure if it would last a week or more. It was still visible after two and a half weeks, but it’s gone now. This time I’ll get permanent, and it will be visible until it grows out and fades over time. I’m going for the same color. I hope you get a streak!

Oh, your poor friend!!! That’s scary, and so glad she wasn’t hurt worse. Poor thing!!! Hope she is pushing fluids. Oh, I got the message/moral—loud and clear! And, I will heed it—I’m not a clam or oyster fan.

Did you say fudge??? I have a bunch of peanut butter that needs made into something.

Jana—I’m sneezing here today, too. UGH! I hope we don’t both come down with colds for the holidays! Sounds like things are busy at your house! What a nice neighbor you have!!! I’m the shoveler here and was in my former life as well. I do so want to make sugar cookies and decorate them this year, but it may not happen. I’m starting to acquire cutters to replace the ones I lost in the fire. I used to bake decorated cookies to sell and later for gift plates. I would love to see pictures of your finished cookies! Hope the recipe is a huge success, too!

Becca—so glad to hear from you! I’m so sorry for all your damage!!! You live in such a pretty part of the country. Your generator has already paid for itself!!! Yes, I’m still walking the grand- and great-grand dog and the Hooligans. They keep me hopping… literally! And, I’m practicing my yoga every morning.

I’m starting to see “finish” in the table runner marathon. Still have four more to quilt, then all of them to bind. My sewing room is a complete disaster zone.

DH will be back from coffee and ready for brunch, and I’ll be getting ready to go walk Ava and head for town for my hair appointment and to see Mom for awhile and leave my sisters’ gifts with her.

Dinner tonight… good question! I have soup for me. I may just pick up a burger for DH while I’m out and about. He won’t starve!

Bon appétit!

First test batch of cookies are baked - we, I rolled them about a fat quarter of a inch, we like thick, crisp cookies - they are great! No spreading from the cutter shape and taste good - I did just plain vanilla. They are crisp too, which means they will hold up to decorating.

I will let you know Sarah's opinion - she is fussy! LOL! Wonder where that came from? If they are a go, I will share the recipe.

I got a little over three dozen cookies from the recipe - trees, candy canes, light bulbs, and mittens.

OK - they passed Sarah. We are making the chilled dough, softer and a better consistency. Oh my, is the chocolate dough delicous! Can't wait until it is chilled, rolled and decorated. The first batch is tasty, but I was learning the timing in my convection oven, so we will save them for the grands to decorate.

Forgot to tell you my disaster the other day. I have a collectible by Hallmark and Jim Shore - Snoopy, Schroeder, and Lucy at a piano. It goes with a comic strip at which Lucy asks Schroeder if he loves her, then at the end, Lucy shouts, then buy me something! This has been a running joke between Michael and I since we were married. Well, I knocked it off a table and broke it into a million pieces. Sarah quickly looked to find us a replacement. She found a couple starting at $2800.00 to $5600.00 - ouch! We finally found one for $75.00 and bought it. There were only three that we found, so this one is now going into my curio cabinet, with a lock! Who knew that retired collectibles could be so costly!
