Supper Club - Wed Dec 5

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Dec 05, 2018 12:45 am

Good morning!

Our travel day yesterday Was good-five hours in the truck. Only had one little incident: we had Just gotten north of corpus Christi and wanted to eat lunch at a little park on the other side of the freeway. We took the exit indicating the park. Exit went down about a quarter of a mile to a river where we had to turn and go under the freeway. Problem was we are 13‘3“ tall. The clearance was only 12‘6“. No way would we fit to go under the freeway. There was barely enough room for us to turn The trailer around. But then we were stuck. This was a one-way ramp And while traffic was scant, it was coming right at us. We ended up calling police and have them escort us out, stopping traffic. While waiting for the officer to show up another RV came down and got stuck with us. We happened to Draw an officer with a sense of humor and he had a good time laughing. He said this happens all the time. Even semi-trucks get stuck down there and he said he saw one semi that didn’t pay attention and took off half his trailer trying to get under the freeway. We offered the crazy suggestion that someone post a sign on the freeway. about the clearance limit. He said they have been trying to get the city to do just that but for some reason they wont. Crazy! Our GPS is supposed to warn us, too, but for some reason, it didnt.

We have 3-1/2 to 4 hours drive ahead if us today. Then we will be back “home” at our old campsite.

Oh! I did get to stop at quilt shop in Victoria. I was there once about 4 yrs ago with Cindy, Lyn, and Honey. Shop hadnt changed a bit. Even the same lady was sitting in the same chair visiting with staff and customers. I was looking for christmas fabric but they only had 4 bolts left and a few FQs

Chickie, we hear from home that more cold weather will be heading for you and Jana soon. Bundle up!

Jana, did you hear that? Home is to be 23’ so who knows how cold you will get when this system arrives at your house! I think Ethan may have a calling as a football kicker!

Becca, what a relief it will be to have your generator finally installed! Not only for yourself but if you ever decide to move it will be a great selling point.

Tina, there you are!! I was starting to worry! Those plates will be special for sure.

Tonights supper is going to be spaghetti i think.

Good morning!

Mary - this is where you say, oh Aaron! He is the one here in SLC that would get the call and shut down the road for you. Michael, being the engineer is now telking me about the standards for highway overpasses and bridges. We will tell Matt and remind him to be aware with his rig. There are times we worry with Matt and his awareness.

Dinner tinight with be "spicy" meat pizza. Ethan will be here. Spucy meat is just what he calls sausage. I will probably have Aaron and the girls too. Kate is still in training.

My sweetheart fairies will be here tonight, so afters will be cinnamon pecan caramel sticky rolls.

Ethan has decided that since the train is down and under and around the tree, that he is moving in with Grandma. He tried his bag of tricks to persuade his mom of that yesterday.

Tina - I understand how you are feeling. My mom passed away on the 10th of December, 18 years ago. Lots of her memories in all my Christmas. I love sharing those memories with my grands of who their great grandmother is, as she was gone before they arrived. The only one who met her was Stu and he was 6 months old. I have so many stories of her life that I could write a book! My mom always said, if she could write a book, the title would be, Next time, I am going to raise Chickens! Well, Sarah does, LOL! Smile, cry, smile again and tell memories.

Well, need to get my day going,

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning! Sunny here with a heat wave coming! We will be 50 today and back to 30s tomorrow and the rest of the week with snow forecast on Saturday. I’m ready for spring! Wake me in April!!!

Mary—Think of the headaches, costs (of stopping traffic to guide lost rigs), good will gained—if ONLY they would put up a sign! Good thing you had a patrolman with a good sense of humor! And, you had company with the other rig! I know you will be happy to get back “home”!

Tina—good to see you! So glad you are decorating and remembering your mother. My aunt died on Christmas morning, and each year is a celebration of her life. She loved Christmas, so it was the perfect day for her to pass. Isn’t that special to receive the set of plates this year!

Jana—so funny about the “spicy” meat! Are you writing a book??? I think the “Next Time I’m Going to Raise Chickens” is a hoot! I’m sure a lot of mothers have felt the same way—at least on occasion. I know I have! And, I used to have a flock of chickens. What great memories you have, too!

Dinner tonight… “mac ‘n” (Poor MaryZ!) with green beans and salad (at least salad for me!). I have a bit of the chicken left from last night, so I’m going to make a salad for brunch for me with lettuce, pomegranate seeds and the chicken. I think I’ll probably do poppy seed dressing. My brunch food is seldom breakfast food, although DH has his egg and toast.

I’ll be walking Ava today and sewing on my table runners. Time’s a flyin’!!! So much to do, so much to sew, wedding to attend, DH’s Area Agency on Aging dinner next week, house to clean, dinner to cook for Christmas… I’m beginning to feel the pressure… I’m not above giving “gift certificates” and finishing the runners after Christmas. My yoga in the morning keeps me zen!

Bon appétit!

Hello everyone, cloudy here & we have had snow flurries today. The forecast says snow on Saturday thru Monday.I would rather have snow than ice.We are at 36 for hi today.I had an early start to get meds, groceries, donate a load,& DG.Then Back again tomorrow for shots & exchange a battery for CA.I got home & the gas tank was in & men digging line.I offered to cook for them but they had their lunch.I gave them strawberry bread,& a drink.Tomorrow the generator will be installed. It all has to be inspected first before it’s completed.

Maryq Wow That must have been a fright to have to call police.Glad they come to your aid.Glad it all ended well.

Jana Ethan would be a great helper for Christmas. With his kicking skills he could give you a scare with all your pretty ornaments.I have some treasures to.My DGs made some of mine.

Tina So Happy for you & your dishes.Sure they mean a lot.My Mother Passed away 17 years ago tomorrow. Then My DB in 2016 on Christmas Day,then another DB lastChristmas Eve.I understand your feelings.

Chickie We have about the same weather.Hope you get your gifts finished.

Levi DGS come over & helped Papa this morning. He is a sweet one.He is the one that was in the Army.It left him with PTSD.

I had to take a rest after lunch.I was awake most of night & my BP is low too.And I was running around doing all the errands.I never do that as a rule.

It’s black beans over bed of rice with spring onions on top. Becca
