Supper Club , Tuesday, Nov 13th

Good morning

We made it to Fort Stockton, Texas yesterday. We lost another hour as we crossed another time zone. The fur kids pay no attention to time zones. I am starting to think it would just be easier to move to the time zone that suits them rather than trying to make them conform to the clock.

We have 325 miles to go and should be in our final campground in about six hours of driving. We are looking firward to seeing our friends There after two years. And especially excited to see my Autumn. But she will have to wait for another day or two. She lives 1-1/4 hours away from our campground. Except for a week after Thanksgiving when we will go to Mission Texas just because we’ve never been there, we will be in this campground until January 11. Then we will meet Cindy g And her hubby, Don, at another park for a weekend before we leave Texas and move on to Arizona for a week or two.

It’s about 26° here. There were a few tiny flakes floating through the air when we checked in yesterday, but nothing came of them. We are simply cold and clear. We fought strong headwinds yesterday and hope they have died down today.

Jana, I hope you are feeling better soon. Don’t tell me you have laryngitis again!

Chickie, I hope you had a nice birthday yesterday. Did you see the story I told you yesterday about snow and St Anne?

Tina, did you really get snow yesterday?

Becca, I would like one of those apple peeling gadgets for sure. I don’t have arthritis in my hands but they ache so much peeling apples and potatoes. This is why we usually have baked potatoes. LOL

Irish - soup from the restaurant sounds ideal to me for supper. I know our grocery stores here usually have big pots of soup in the deli section that you came buy. I bet it was hard for Kathy to go get on the airplane.

This RV park has a little café and it’s just home cooking with about five different choices. So we ate there last night as we usually do when we stop here. Bill had chicken fried steak and I had chicken tenders. I don’t know about tonight. After a long day in the saddle I think I will thaw and heat chili.

Good morning :o)
Mary, I'll have to check later about the snow, it's still dark out so I can't tell yet but it was snowing yesterday, I just don't know if any stuck. It's 19 this morning, maybe colder now, I looked at 5 and that's what it was.
Yummy to stop for soup Irish.
Shirley Mae, that's sad about Rod getting stuff stolen, sadly crime is everywhere.
Chickie, I hope your birthday was a special one yesterday. I loved Mary's story about St Anne.
Becca, I sure hope you get to go for Thanksgiving.
I moved car seats yesterday to have 2 vehicles ready in case one wont start ow something. It was bitter cold with the wind we had. It'll take me and Preston a couple days to get used to our new schedules but we're pretty good together. I laughed yesterday because Mr Shy Guy Preston wanted to start school, he says he's ready to go to school with brother :o)
I made a pot of beans last night and corn bread, it hit the spot with it being so cold! And we finished off the pie for afters. I've got grandkids requesting more pie already LOL I'll probably make a pumpkin today, it helps warm the house up. I have to stop for a few groceries after we drop Easton off this morning, I'm not looking forward to that at all, it's too cold.
Supper tonight will be burritos so I can make a big batch and freeze some for Frankie for lunches.
Tina

Good morning!

Watching Pioneer Woman make a Thanksgiving dinner - if I ever tried to make her short cut Thanksgiving dinner, I would be shot at sunrise! LOL! Michael said I wouldn't make it that long! They are such tradionalists in this family. It is even that way in my niece's family too. Must be genetic!

Yes, I am playing the part of Arial, from the Little Mermaid. Happens this time of year. I thought that possibly I was allegeric to something in California, as it happened there, but, no, here too. Michael postulated that it could be all the smoke from the wildfires. Silly Michael, he loves to tease me!

Mary - home away from home is in sight! Autumn will be so happy to have Mom there, even if it is a short time. I wonder what quilt patterns she will find for you to do? See Tina's below.

Tina - So glad to see you and your sister Mary - you can pass for sisters! I too have multiple car seat in different vebicles here - Easy for me if I need to pick up one of them on short notice.

Aaron's training is finished this week and he will be out there on his own. For a time he will share a truck with the guy who relieves him for the swing shift. Aaron has the morning shift from 6:30 to 2;30 or so. Aaron is on call at anytime, when he gets his own truck. It is a take home work truck. Part of the reason he was hired was he luved within 15 minutes of I 15 and right off another major corridor that they working towards patrolling as soon as the cities and UHP work out the details. Kate starts her new job as a EMT the end of the month. She will be 12 on, then off. Sarah will take the girls when Aaron starts his shift.

Dinner will be leftovers, noodles or spaghetti or tacos, what ever floats the boat! LOL!

Still nothing from Daniel, so I take that as he is still fighting fires and not injured, which is a good thing!

Enjoy,
Jana

Hi everyone. I am using my Crock-Pot today. Thick pork chops in brown gravy. That way I was able to sew on my Lotto blocks today. It smells so good. It is making me hungry. LOL.

Good afternoon! I’ve had a fun day today. My neighbor picked me up at nine, and we went to Pittsburg. While she was getting her nails done, I went to the Doggy Bag (the Humane Society thrift shop) and found four pair of almost new jeans. My total bill was less than $20. We went and checked out a vintage Necci sewing machine for my neighbor, and then we went to lunch. After lunch we stopped at my DD’s workplace, and I gave her my lunch leftovers for her late lunch. She gave me a birthday present. I’d also brought peanut butter cookies for her and her family. We came home, and I walked Ava and Choc on the way back. Later the Hooligans and I walked back to see Choc.

We are considerably warmer than yesterday, but the high was only 31 degrees with a 25 degree wind chill. Walking was definitely breezy, and I was hustling!

Mary—sounds like you should be finding your winter headquarters soon or about now and getting settled in and relaxing. I did see the story about St. Anne! I think she should keep her housecleaning to herself!!!

Vel—hooray for Crock Pots! They have become a kitchen necessity. I used to have one of the tiny ones at the office--Just the right size to put on a cup of soup and have it perfect for lunchtime. And, I also used it for dipping sauces when it wasn’t being used for soup.

Becca-- If I’m hosting Thanksgiving or a brunch, I HAVE to make a list of everything before so I can try and remember everything—quantities, too. It helps with planning my grocery list. Now, that’s not to say I still don’t forget and leave something in the refrigerator or oven only to discover it after dinner is finished.

Jana—If the guys had to make Thanksgiving dinner, they would probably order take out!!! They want their tradition, but they have no comprehension of what it entails. My late DH always wanted Sunday dinner “just like mom used to make.” We had a discussion about the fact that I was NOT his mom!!! I’ve had allergies in the middle of winter. With all the fires out there and the wind… you may be experiencing some ash drift and irritation. Who knows? I think of Daniel every time I see the fires on TV. It’s just so, so sad.

Tina—we still have snow on the ground here. The sun helps melt some, but the temperatures have been below freezing all day. It was 17 this morning. I’m glad I don’t have to go out to work every morning—or take kids to school!

Well, DH just had a steak sandwich late, so I’m not sure what he will want for dinner. I think I’m going to have tomatoes with mayo and dill for dinner. DS gave DH a bag of late tomatoes for me. They will be consumed post haste!!!

Bon appétit!
