SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Oct 25

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Oct 25, 2018 1:26 am

Good morning!

WE were up EARLY today. Bill left to drive to Anacortes, north of Seattle. It's a 2-hr drive light traffic and he wanted to beat rush hour which can double that time. He is meeting someone there at 0800. I have an appointment with a friend this afternoon to get our nails done. She is leaving tomorrow on a cruise and she wants to look good. And I'm riding shotgun.

We got our cable repairs done at the power pole and no drama from the neighbor. I was kind of disappointed. It didn't cost us, but if she does this again, it might. But the cables are encased in conduit now. Hopefully she can't get break it.

I finished the top of my 40" TX wall-hanging. Now to quilt/bind/embellish it and it will be done! Then to clean up my sewing room.

TINA - sounds like you got soaked by Willa! She's cruising the country, I think.

CHICKIE - the thing about not getting flu shots - you may not be susceptible to flu, but you can still carry it to those more vulnerable. The shots help to prevent that risk. I would like to feed birds and squirrels, but hate to get them used to that and then we take off. Better they don't learn to be dependent on us.

SHIRLEY MAE - No, it's been my experience that men never learn. Ever. Hope Rod is feeling better.

BECCA - I bet your yard is looking beautiful by now! So nice of your kids to do that for you!

IRISH - a trip to FL! How fun! you will have such a good time! Does the friend you visit live there full time or just winter? And nice to know the eagles are "cavorting"! Do their last year's young stay in the area, do you know, or are they gone now?

JANA - you really have your pantry skills down to a science! you have a lot to offer in your class.

Supper tonite is going to be leftover white chili. No cooking! If there are any leftover leftovers after this, they are going into the freezer. Then I'll have to contemplate new food. What new food is tempting you tonite?

Yum! White chili... I have never tried, but chili sounds great. We went out for pizza last night and love having leftovers on dance night.
We still have some casserole left, but we will have that Friday night.
Glad your neighbor isn't causing trouble, but you probably worry about being gone for awhile. Hope she stays inside and behaves herself. Vel

Good morning from a sunny but still cold, SW. Pa...It's only to get to about 50 today but as long as we have sun, that makes a huge difference...Oh the mind games Mr. Sun plays....

Mary, glad to hear your wires are all taken care of but in a way, I think we're all a little disappointed that there was no excitement, lol...Sure hope, she does behave while you're away....

My friend, Virginia, does live in Florida, year round...Her late DH had been a MIA, shot down over Germany and in a prison camp for a year, suffering with a broken back...About 45 years ago, after suffering from the cold up here, they moved south and never looked back...Up until his death in 2011, Jim and I visited every winter but after Bob passed, Jim just didn't enjoy the trip as much and his reason for staying home or not going for as long would be, "someone had to take care of our cats"...We really had some fun years....

I really do enjoy watching the eagles, build their nest, take care of their young...They mate for life and it really is sad as, as when Harriet lost her Ozzie but the younger fellow came along and has provides very well...As it should be, the female rules the roost, so to speak and Harriet is quite a ruler...They do mate all year long but there is only a certain period of time when they produce the eggs...But, Harriet is funny, she will give her fellow that little side kick when she's "in the mood"...As for the young, once they leave the nest or fledge, they aren't welcome back home, especially when the parents have new eggs. They are considered a danger and the parents really put the run on them....Really sad in away...But, the eagles main purpose is to produce future eagles and since the ban of DDT, they seem to be doing a great job, lol.....So, enough of the eagle lesson for the day.....

Once again, I'm on the run...My sister called last night and wants to visit furniture stores down this way...AND we all know, that means a full day, with lunch...So, that means, not much going on in my house today, the cats are in charge and hopefully, that means they'll sleep all day.....

And we all know, when I go out, whatever I have for lunch will be my dinner and that could be anything..........

You all have a great day.....

Happy eating..............

Good morning! It’s a gloomy day here. We had some rain in the night, a few showers intermittently, and now heavy overcast that looks like it will stay for much of the day. It was hard to wake up this morning without the sun.

Yesterday I finished my table topper, placemat and napkin—quilted with meander. I’ve never done it, so it was definitely a learning experience. Not perfect, but finished! I need to clean in my sewing room today and maybe do a bit of organization. Maybe.

I spoke too soon about the overcast. It’s now heavy drizzle.

Mary—so glad there wasn’t drama yesterday. Good that they used conduit this time! If she gets a saw and works through that… Congrats on finishing your top! I know it will be Texas cute! I feed birds, and therefore squirrels, all year long. I enjoy watching the view from my sewing windows.

Tina—I think we got just an edge of the rain you had as it moved on up this way.

Irish—enjoy your trip!!! The hunters from Ft. Myers will be back up here Nov. 5, I think. We see eagles in the winter here. They are active on the lake next to us. Amazing to see every time! Have a blast today!!!

Vel—I love white chili! It’s on the lighter side using chicken—either chunks or ground. Pizza sounds divine!

Dinner tonight will be whatever… I made some veggie soup for me last night, and it was delicious. I got chilled somehow, and soup was just the remedy. There are leftovers.

Bon appétit!

Irish You’re going to be in Sunny FL for Christmas.Glad you can visit with friend & I’m sure she loves it.Enjoy your lunch.Ive only seen an Eagle here 2 times. They are a sight to see.Ive seen documentaries on them.

Maryz So Glad Vicky was in house & stayed.I think what happened with sheriff etc had a meaning to her.Hope it stopped her antics.

Jana You do have the food storage in hand it sounds like.Great to be prepared. We have talked about how people panic & run to store when snow is coming. We always say we could live for months on what we have.
