Good morning!
Going to be a busy day today - a 4-man crew is coming first thing to finish repairs to the communication wires (cable/internet/phone) that Vicki cut in September while we were out of state. One man came last week but she started harassing him so he backed off, called his boss, and they decided to bring a larger crew and come today instead. They said they will call the sheriff at first sign of violence from our sick neighbor. They know the back story. I also will do some laundry, some sewing, finish wrapping Christmas stuff, doctor appt and a haircut. Then we are having an early dinnner out with 2 other couples at an Italian restaurant. What a hodge podge day!
TINA - Thank you! you have a houseful and I know you are loving it all! Is the move all complete now? Didn't you say Maria and Matthew are staying at the rental for another week? Does she have a job?
SHIRLEY MAE - Yes, my tablerunner is a Christmas gift for a good friend. I hope Rod's back is OK today. Good on you for getting your flu shot! I can't believe the number of people who don't. What a risk. Last year 80,000 deaths in this country from flu. And almost all of them did NOT get the shot.
JANA - what a daunting task, your pantry-keeping! But like I said, you are the queen of organization! I just shop at Costco, buy what we like, and plan meals around what I buy for the most part. We keep our trailer stocked with enough water, non-perishable food, and personal items for about 2 weeks plus some clothing. it's our 'earthquake kit'.
HELEN - good morning to you!
CHICKIE - I love what you did with that pattern to suit your mom. And you managed to keep all that curved sewing straight and flat! You are the woman!! Nice weather you are having. Here, we are hoving in the mid-50's now. And the dry weather has come to an end. Rain last night and its' going to really come down tomorrow.
VELDA - you are hitting the road oct 31st, right?
IRISH - how was lunch with The Girls?
LINDA & PAM - not worried about you - yet. Just wondering . . .
No cooking tonite - supper will be something Italian - our favorite! But our white chili last night was awesome. Bill is still talking about it. I think we have two more meals - one for tomorrow and one for the freezer for on the road, like Velda's chicken noodle casserole.
How's the supper forecast looking at your house?

Good morning
We have thick fog this morning! We had soaking showers yesterday LOL that's what my weather app called them....and boy oh boy were they right, we got tons of soaking, it's standing water everywhere!
Mary, yep that's right, Maria and Matthew are staying in the rental till we go move the rest Saturday morning. Friday at 9 the cleaning company is sending a crew to clean their new place top to bottom and in every nook and cranny and cabinets, shampoo carpets and clean the baseboards! They're supposed to leave no spot not cleaned! They estimate 3-4 hours tops. I think Kevin sure is great to do this for Maria and Matthew, but maybe I'm a little biased LOL I'd love Frankie to hire a company to do our house like that!
Maria is a 3rd grade bilingual teacher, she usually gets off work around 4.
We had a housefull last night and lots of fun! I really enjoyed it! Kevin and Frankie even cleaned the kitchen for me! They're awesome
Chickie, we'll still need to mow to about thanksgiving and then we usually now once a month to pick up dead grass so the dogs don't track so much in. Our grass doesn't go all the way dormant because we have summer and winter grass mixed in. It does slow down though, the winter grass doesn't grow as fast.
Tonight we're having brisket and Klobase that we bought by the pound Sunday so all I gotta do is heat it up, think I'll make coleslaw and potato salad to go with it.

Good morning! It’s a lovely day again, but about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. Between dog walking times, I finished stitching down the appliqués on Mom’s gifts. Today I’ll sandwich and attempt some free motion quilting on them.
Mary—never a dull moment with your neighbor, and if there is you are suspicious. It will be interesting to see how your day plays out with her and the repair crew. Yes, DH and I are among the ones who do not get flu shots. If I’m a statistic, you get my batik fabrics!
Vel—how fun to be dancing up a storm before you hit the road! I’m going to bring in my hummer feeders here. I haven’t seen any stragglers in several days.
Becca—that’s a lot of mulch! I bet it looks amazing! Enjoy your company!!!
Tina—That’s a lot of rain! I figured it soaked through where you live. Sounds like you had a fun evening and had the kitchen cleaned for you! Amazing!!!
Dinner tonight… something from the fridge. If I get around to it, I may make a pear cake using my apple cake recipe. It turned out so well the other time I made it.
Bon appétit!

Good Morning MaryZ and all who follow.
I do know how deadly things like flu and pneumonia can be. My brother lost his 24 yr old wife to flu/pneumonia many yrs ago. He was left to raise a 3 and 4 yo kids. That family was never the same. Please get both flu and pneumonia shots, they could save your life.
Can't wait to hear chapter 2 on the crew and Vicky next door. Could be an interesting day at your house, hope she doesn't cause too much trouble for everyone.
Jana, your pantry organization is top notch but would never work in this house. We have 2 pantrys since we made one out of our hall closet with a heavy duty 4 shelf plastic unit to hold all the cans and containers. WE still have a coat closet by front door for coats.
Our kitchen pantry is a lost cause and everyone in this complex hates their kitchen pantry. It is narrow and very very deep. Even Rod can't get to things on top shelf or way in back and he is 5'11". Most older people, mostly ladies in here, get very little use out of the kitchen one. Us old folks can't be climbing around on step stools everytime we need something. Or crawling inside of the pantry to get things in the back. Wish it had roll out shelves like our old fifth wheel had many yrs ago.
Helen, so good to see you posting again. Hope you are feeling better these days and ready for winter up your way. Coming fast to the higher elevations. WE are getting frost a lot at night but then goes back up to 60's in daytime. I could see my breath outside last night, that is getting cold in fall.
And speaking of outside, I heard a noise out on porch late last night. Walked to door, peeked out window area, and there stood a deer on my porch. They usually hang out over on other end of complex but we are on backside and face woods. Now I know why my birdfeeder was on ground 2 days ago and very broken with bird seed everywhere on ground. The deer here go around to feeders and stick out tongue and and scoop up lots of bird seed all at one time.
I think this was a young doe, there were twin fawns in here this spring. It didn't appear to be fully grown but not real small either. Love to see deer and other wildlife.
We do have a very small baby oppussum sneaking up on porch at night now for drinks of water and maybe cat food if I put any out for mine.
WEll, Rod did it again. A week ago he was having a cup of soup in his recliner and spilled it in his lap. Did see a dr and it all healed up nicely but painful for a few days. This morning, Rod sat down with a bowl of cheerios. Guess where it ended up but at least not hot. I tried not to laugh as I saw his lap full of cheerios. Do men ever learn?????? LOL
Hello to everyone that isn't on here yet. Hope your meals are more planned than mine are. We had hamburger helper beef stroganoff last night. Turned out really good too and so easy to fix. My chef isn't doing too much cooking lately since his back is bothering him again. Tonight will be leftovers probably. I have better things to do than plan and put together a big meal for not too hungry people.
Gotta scoot and get busy. Have a great day everyone. May God bless you all today with good health, healing of aches and pains, and love and hugs in your life too. Have a great fall day. Shirley Mae
ps My little DGS in PHX got a new little gold kitty. He is 11 and really thinks thru things like naming a new pet. The new kitty is now named "Little Miss Marmalade Pixie Marigold" better known as Marmalade.
Mon night she kept crawling up on top side of mattress and popping up between their pillows of DDs bed. She was climbing on the plug in to the alarm clock, got it worked loose and alarm did not go off so they were late for work. Think that kitty had a few choice names yesterday morning. LOL

Good morning!
Sarah and I are heading off to Sam's in a little bit. They carry half gallon size ziplock bags and she wants some. I have the card, so off we'll go. I might try those bags too. Dinner - we will see what jumps in the basket.
Mary - I have been organizing stuff since I was little. I like everything in a place, neatly, even behind a closed door.
With my upstairs food in my kitchen, I use up what is there and then bring up replacements from the cold room. I also date each thing as it heads to the freezer or cold room with a black marker - month and year. Once you get started and mark things off, it runs pretty smoothly. About once a year, I re-inventory everything to keep on track. The one thing I have plenty of is fabric! LOL! Short on time in a day!
Tina - you are getting the rain from that hurricane already? We have a chance of some of the rain here, but not a big chance.
Shirley Mae - I am tall - 5'9" - and still need a step to reach things.
Chickie - good luck on the free motion - I can do fairly well on the LA with free motion, but on Ruby, it is stitch in the ditch. You will succeed - you are very talented!
Well, need to get somethings done, Michael is on another work conference call. This project is drawing to a close, then we will see if there is another. Well, that is dumb, they have a zillion projects that need to be done!
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Oct 24
Good afternoon from a semi dreary and still chilly, SW. Pa...I was so hoping we'd get Chickie's weather from yesterday but it must have made a wrong turn.....
Mary, will be waiting for the next saga in your "next door neighbor" story....We hardly have anything exciting happening in our neighborhood except, watching out for the young fellow at the end of the street when he zooms past...But, during one of the bad storms, the hillside behind his house rolled down, bringing trees down with it and he and his GF ended up parking in front of my house, he in front of the garage...This is the same fellow who had a gorgeous German Shepard and actually beat her with his fists, so I have no use for him...Did feel bad that anyone would have damage but we all know about karma....(And, he no longer is allowed to own any pets)...Well, enough of that, I can feel the BP going up just thinking about him, lol....Lunch with the gals was great...One of the gals is leaving for her Florida home on Sat. so we had to make it a special day, which we did....Almost had to pay rent on the table!
Chickie, I agree with Jana, you are very talented...Your Mom is going to love her gifts, so perfect! I'm also going to take care of my hummer feeder and make sure the other feeders are in good working order....
Jana, I always said, my next house would have a pantry...When Jim's Dad built this house, there was a closet right inside the kitchen door but when we took over, we extended the bathroom and removed that closet and boy do I wish it were there now...But, I've always had cupboard in the basement, in fact, had 2, but now it's a semi empty 1...I do have to watch and not buy, spur of the moment stuff and then not use...Those cooking days are not too often and it seems, I'm hearing this from most of my friends...But, I really to think it's great what you're doing, whether it's a kind of Frick and Frack thing or not....
Shirley Mae, love to hear about the new kitten in your DGSs life...They really can be lots of fun but there are times.......And I also like to hear about the wildlife...Just the other day, in fact it was afternoon, there was a young deer right at my back porch, looking for the fallen crab apples...I try to make sure there is something out there they can eat but then come spring, upset when they eat my lilies, lol....Also have the other critters during the night but I've stopped putting cat food out...Jake, the feral, gets his meals during the day, no midnight snacks....
I've decided, I need to stay home today and get the house back in order...Did have a call and my chairs will be here next Tuesday, so want to give the room a good cleaning and get the winter drapes up...Kathy will be coming in a week or so and then we'll be going to Cari's...She'll stay for the week, visit with Cari, come back here and try to see as many of the kin as she can...Going to be a busy, busy time....AND, talked to my friend in Florida and after being told, over and over, that her door is always open, I made reservations to go south, just for about 8-9 days, around Christmas....She's not fully recovered from a broken hip so hopefully, it will do us both good....
Did see my doctor yesterday, got my flu shot, fairly good results and a hug...Next week I see the heart doctor and hoping for the same good news....AND Kathy said, she would straighten out the over charges with the phone, so all is good......
As for my dinner, might be a French bread pizza in the freezer or maybe an egg.....
You all have a great day.....
Happy eating...............
Eagle Update.....Been checking out the Ft. Myers eagle cam and the nest is ready and there's been a lot of hankie pankie going on...Such a majestic couple.....
