SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Oct 19th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Oct 19, 2018 9:57 am

Good afternoon!

sorry, just been so busy ever since I posted yesterday that I never got her until now. Yesterday our errands took all morning, we hung the outdoor Christmas lights in the afternoon, then I made nice pork chop dinner right down to Chickie's baking powder biscuits, for my SIL, Terry, who is in town for a few weeks. She came early and stayed late. Scottie kept me awake several hours whining, (his dad finally took him out), I overslept, walked, chiropractor, washed two quilts and 1 dog, talked to 2 brothers and 1 sister, helped Bill with big mess in kitchen with dishsoap dispenser, and now here I am. Whew!

TINA - you will be glad to come home to a clean house when you are exhausted. Maybe even a dinner in the crockpot to smell so good! Guys don't get what it's like to wake up or come home to a messy house/kitchen.

SHIRLEY MAE - thanks for that quote. I think I'll design a cross stitch and make it for my brother. Enjoy your family!

BECCA - thank you for your concern for my DB. No, this is the leader of our six-pack - Gene. He's the mother hen who worries about us all and is always there for the rest of us. He has such a healthy outlook on every kind of challenge in life, and he's met a lot of them! He is 16 yrs older than I am and he's my idol. I told him this morning that we are planning to come to Alaska next summer and he sounds pretty joyful at that!

IRISH - there you are! I knew you were busy! So, if you like your dining room with only half the stuff back in it, what are you going to do now? Maybe Terry is convinced he needs a new car . . .

JANA - what's with all the lost items?? Do you have gremlins? Anyone we might know?? ;o)

CHICKIE - a night out with the girls! fun! Was that last night or tonite? I'm losing track! lol! Yes, no one was surprised at Marge's diagnosis, least of all Gene. But he's coping. He's tried giving up the road. Twice. It didn't take. His Freightliner, "Snort", is his happy place. Over 2 million miles on Snort alone. He has another truck, a KW, "Pinky", plus he's driven a lot of other trucks over the last 45 yrs in AK. He can't hang it up. But for now, he's cutting way back and will only take runs when one of the kids can care for their mom.

We sent leftovers with Terry last night so tonite will be chili. I made it and froze it a few weeks back. I also have a couple small potatoes, cooked, so I'm going to cube and fry them and pour the chili over them. Plus salad.

Wow! You made me tired, just reading all that you been doing. Did you meet yourself coming and going?
We are so busy with errands and checking off lists. I didn't get to cleaning, but I did get our fans taken apart and cleaned them. Then had to run to bank and post office. Then a late lunch. Now I am totally out of the mood. LOL

Good afternoon!

Been busy in the Batt Cave - found misc fabrics that needed to be "filed" in the correct color basket. My baskets all look so nice - I will have words with whatever daughter of mine comes and messes them up! She is due home from Yosemite this weekend. I don't think my little gremlin is named Ethan - I think that it is me knocking things in the trash and not knowing that I did. I keep a can right under where I do my cutting and it is right next to Ruby, the sewing machine.

I did find another wall hanging that is Sarah's. Found a piece in the stash that goes for the back and I am quilting it right now for her - she will owe me big time! LOL! This one, I didn't have to do any ripping - just layer and quilt.

The quilt for Crenda is squared up and on the design wall - I will get to the sashing is a little bit. They are gone until Saturday night and won't be out here for a week or so. They have family dinner with her side on this Sunday of the month, so I am safe. I hope! LOL

Mary - you are the Energizer Bunny! There is a company here that advertises LED lights for your house - they install permanently. You can change the color of the lights for any season. I am trying to talk old Scrooge into them. The company will come and give a quote. There are also companies that come out and hang your lights or theirs each year - they are a bit expensive, but so much safer than being on a ladder in the snow season. Right now ours stay up all the time.

Vel - my theory is cleaning can wait! Well, I try to work that theory, but haven't succeeded yet!

Dinner - I have soups in the freezer, so may pop one out for dinner tonight - we will see...

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon… late afternoon. I was sitting at my computer with a cup of coffee after yoga while DH was at coffee. A knock at the door… and I was outside loading two ricks of wood for one of DH’s customers. DH arrived just as the last sticks of wood were left to load. What impeccable timing!

Today isn’t as pretty as yesterday was. In fact, it’s gloomy and drizzly and cooler. I made some caramel corn to take to a ladies’ night with my neighbor this evening. It should be a fun time. We also walked down and walked Ava. I need to pay a few bills, and hope to spend an hour in my sewing room if I don’t get interrupted.

Tina—I hope your weather is good tomorrow!

Mary—you’ve been so busy! You’re having Christmas before Halloween—so funny! Just like the stores!!! Halloween on one aisle, and Christmas is on the next. Crazy! How is your SIL doing these days? I’m glad your DB has a support system in AK, and he will be thrilled to have his li’l sis next summer! I’ve driven a KW—in one of my former lives—for a short time one summer.

Vel—Mary is like the energizer bunny! She just keeps going and going. She wears me out! I’m never in the mood for cleaning, although sometimes I just have to do it. Ha! I’d rather be sewing!

Dinner tonight. I’ll be having finger foods with the ladies. I’m going to fix DH some kielbasa and rice—maybe with some beans. He won’t starve, and I’m sure I won’t! I never met a snackie I didn’t like.

Bon appétit!
