SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Oct 18th
Good morning!
Another pretty day here, but they will be coming to an end, soon. They say rain is moving in and it will be a 'soaker' come Tuesday. So we're pushing to have all our outdoor stuff done by end of weekend. That being said, we are off to Tacoma today - we have a list of at least 5 errands to run. One will be Joann's and I have 2 big coupons. They are even good for things that are already on sale. I need a couple of small items to finish off my SS gift.
I talked to my oldest DB, Gene, in Alaska. He wife received an expected diagnosis of Alzheimers yesterday. The last 3 months have been rough on both of them. I'm sure many in our group here will concur with his statement that being a caregiver is the toughest job there is. Marge can't be left alone so his kids are stepping up to give him some respite. He hasn't worked in 3 months and is itchy to get back on the road, maybe once a week for a break. (He's a trucker).
My sister, Tina/June, (her name is June but she prefers to be called Tina, but we already have one Tina here so don't want to confuse myself!) is having surgery this morning on her hand for a malignant growth. So now I have two sibs to worry about today.
There is a photo in yesterday's supper club of Chickie's mints she has been making for Mom's 100th birthday party. If you didn't see it, check it out. They are AWESOME!!
Also, Sue posted this morning that her 54-yr-old sister passed away unexpectedly yesterday. If you see Sue around the forum, give her a cyber hug.
TINA - It's a requirement at all moving parties here to order pizza and beer (well, pop will do) for your volunteers! It will be an exciting day. Is Matthew walking yet? That should add one more element of interest in the day! lol!
CHICKIE - your Hooligans are real con-artists! They even get treats without being there! haha!! Did you get into your sewing room yesterday?
BECCA - I hope all the painting projects are done for now! lol! I saw your son found a house and will close near the end of the year. I'm happy for him, but sad for you. I like knowing he is there with you. I expect you do, too.
supper tonite? Hmmmm..... How about pork chops? fried potatoes, brussels sprouts and salad. We've got plenty!

Good morning
Mary, I think we've swapped weathers! I don't think we've gone this many days with no sun, it's kinda weird.
Sue, I'm so sorry to hear about your sister! Hugs to you.
Mary, yes Matthew is walking, he was a ring bearer at the wedding, his older cousin on Maria's side helped him, out was so cute.
It looks dark outside, we have to have our lights on inside and I just told Frankie it's a good opportunity to vacuum and clean the house now, he's not very enthused about it but oh well. And it'll be nice to go help the kids knowing our house is already clean.
We might have chicken for supper, I'm not sure yet.
Tina

Good Morning, All,
MaryZ….so sorry to hear about your bro, Gene and his wife Marge with Alzheimers. Prayers for all the family, not an easy situation to deal with. Hope he can get some time for himself too as others help to share the care and love she needs.
I received an ad in my Reader's Digest this week that included a doll for Alzheimer Patients. And this saying was in that ad.....brought tears and thoughts of so many suffering. Thought it might bring comfort to some of you dealing with this.
"WHAT THE MIND CAN'T REMEMBER, THE HEART NEVER FORGETS."
Sue....Hugs and prayers for comfort and peace with the loss of your sister. May God be with you and your family today and all thru the coming days of grief. Share the grief but also the happy memories of days gone by, tuck those memories in your heart to keep her close always.
MaryZ...Prayers for your sister too as she has hand surgery. You certainly have a lot of family medical issues to deal with. Hugs and prayers as you prepare to travel again too.
Chickie...Loved the pics of your mints. How cute! Know your mom and everyone else will love them. Give your MOM a special hug from me. Our moms are so important in our lives and I miss mine every day. Enjoy every minute with your mom. Prayers and hugs for you today too.
Love your Hooligan walks and treats, etc. My old boss used to go to McDonalds with his dog. He would order Just a hamburger and no bun for his dog. The staff loved it and knew what he wanted when he came thru. And the dog was extra happy.
Tina, you sound so busy all the time. Don't you just love little ones in a wedding. Sometimes they "outshine" the wedding party. LOL Pizza sounds good to me too. God bless you and your family whatever you are up to today.
Becca, so glad the painting is done and son is getting things together. I am happy too that he will be there to help you out. God bless you and all your family today and always. You are so busy. Pray your life settles down a little. Just breathe and let God handle all the big problems. God bless and hugs to you and yours.
My DD1 and SNIL will be here around 12:30 today. We will go out and do lunch somewhere nearby. They are from New Orleans, and have to go back tomorrow. Will be camping out tonight in a tent, their choice. Hope they know MO is lots colder than NOLA. LOL She said hubby and dog will keep them all warm when cuddled up in tent. Dog is a chihuahua so can't be too warming. LOL
Since having lunch out today, tonight will be salad and soup or sandwich for us. Not sure where we are going yet, maybe Mamas Garden. It is a Chinese place not far from here but the best buffet, sushi, and stir fry around. and seniors are $6.99 for lunch. Can't beat that.
Gotta scoot, Kitty wants in. Cold outside but warming to 60's today. Frost here last two nights, lots of plants bit the dust so will clean them up next week.
MaryZ, our AZ family isn't coming until dec for Rod's birthday. They will be here for 5 days. Can't wait to see that DGS.
God bless all, happy eating and doing and living. Prayers for all who are needing them for medical, life, or whatever.
Hugs and love, Shirley Mae

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Oct 18th
Good afternoon from sunny but still chilly, SW. Pa...The sun really plays tricks on you, I ran out to get the paper and darn near froze, lol....
Mary, glad to hear you're having good weather but so sorry to hear about the health problems...My heart hurts every time I hear about someone getting that dreaded diagnosis....Feel, so bad for both your brother and his wife and will certainly keep them in my prayers...Also prayers for a cure, hopefully soon.....Hope you have an awesome day, especially at JoAnns....I get those ads and then I think, no, not going to think about going until I get some of my stash used up or some of the projects, finished....This will power is killing me, lol.....
Becca, paint spots, just another thing to laugh at, I had many of those as I guess we all do....Nice to hear that your DS found a house but I also know you must be feeling a little sad...Terry lives within 2 miles of me and when he told me they had bought a house, which is about half an hour away, I could have cried...But, it was a good thing for them and that part makes me happy....
Tina, I think everyone is mixed up with the weather, these days..Any more, you really can't plan anything according to whether it's going to rain or be nice, you just never know....I think I'd take the baby sitting job over the moving but then, with a little one who walks, it might be harder than toting boxes....Terry has his closing on the 29th but not sure when they plan to move..I might plan to be out of town, lol.....
The last couple of days have been busy but I really haven't accomplished anything....Have gotten the dining room, semi back to normal and have decided, I liked it better with most of the stuff, out of it, lol...Tuesday night, Terry wanted to come buy and hook up the Puter stuff but had to take his old, old Subie to the hospital..So instead of having his wife take him to work the next day, why not use my car and I added, if you think you can handle it....So, Wed. morning at 6:30, his wife dropped him off, he picked up my car and texted me later that he loved, loved driving it....I then decided, why not come here for dinner....I actually cooked a big dinner, complete with wine and apple squares for afters...Kind of felt good even having to clean the messy kitchen....
Today, I'm off to the Library and to pick up an RX at Walmart..Tomorrow, Baby Girl is seeing the Vet...She has decided she doesn't like using the litter box and I'm worried she might have a problem...If it isn't one thing it's another but such is life.....
As for my dinner, left overs from last night, chicken, stuffing, gravy and mashed spuds....
You all have a great day........
Happy eating..............

Good afternoon!
I got another UFO ready and will turn the binding tonight before our class. We get there early to get a seat, so I take some hand work with me. Also squared up a set of swap blocks from many years ago. Got the fabric for the sashing and the back and binding today while we were out. Crenda fell in love with these blocks, so that will be part of her Christmas present, plus another UFO done. I also got the fabric for the back of a very modern quilt that El did with her webinar a few years back. it is black with bright colors of batiks - it will get loaded on my LA tomorrow. I am down to just the big quilts that need to be finished or quilted. There are quite a few of those too!
That wallhanging has not yet showed up, but I found both the patterns I bought for it and the fat quarter bundle, so I will remake it for next year. I hope that it got mixed in with the fabric that I donated, so that it will get a good home and not in Acme landfill! Did I tell you that I lost my favorite Olfa cutter as well? - Michael took pity on me and bought me another one.
Well, dinner is out tonight and I hope that the car knows the way - I will be hungry after class gets out.
Not much time before I need to change and get ready for class - see ya tomorrow!
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Oct 18th
Good late afternoon/evening--after dinner. We had a wild mushroom I found today... a lion's mane or monkey head (not to be confused with bear's head although they look quite similar). I thought I had found chanterelles, but as I looked them up similar varieties were poisonous so I didn't fix them. We weren't impressed with the lion's mane. I fixed it like a chef did when I checked online. Neither of us liked the consistency. But, it was a fun experiment. We had rice, unmentionable little pink things, cottage and salad so we didn't starve.
No sewing for me today. It was an amazing, beautiful fall day. The hooligans and I walked Ava, then we helped DH load, split and stack wood. He had three customers come and get 6 ricks, and I helped load them all. It was nice to be out in the sun, although I'm sure my back will be protesting tomorrow. I'll need my yoga work out for sure! I'll roll around on the floor and call it a massage.
Thank you all for the kind comments about the mints. They were fun to make all the varieties. I'll be making poinsettias, leaves and hearts for the December wedding.
Jana--so sorry about your wall hanging, and your cutter! I think my favorite one is an Olfa, too. I've lost my tiny twister template. Can find the larger one, but not the tiny one. So frustrating!
Tina--hope you warm up especially for the moving day! We are to have rain move in again this evening and tomorrow.
Shirley Mae--I hate it when the frost kills my flowers, then it warms back up and all is brown and nasty. We have started paying by the pound for the Chinese buffet and making several meals from our take out. It is great since DH can't eat much at a time but likes the variety of the buffet. It actually comes out to less than regular buffet price, and we have several meals.
Mary--so sorry about your SIL. I know you probably weren't surprised about the diagnosis from what you've mentioned. Your poor DB. I'm sure he doesn't want to give up the road, but it will change his life for sure.
Becca--yes, we want our kids to be happy and settled. Maybe you and CA can still see him somewhat frequently.
Irish--sounds like you know how to get your DS to dinner! If you feed them, they will come! And, if you loan them your vehicle. Glad you enjoyed your time in the kitchen and with your family!
Sue--my sincere condolences. Hugs!
Tomorrow evening, my neighbor asked me to go with her to a ladies night out with her church group--games and finger foods. I'm going to make caramel corn. I haven't played games in years, so I'm looking forward to it. I'll fix something for DH before I leave. He may get cheese and crackers. I don't have any leftovers.
