Supper club. Tuesday, October 2
Good morning from the ocean. Everybody that is coming arrived. Had a nice campfire last night and Claudia made flank steak for dinner for us. Tonight is our turn with burgers and homemade fries and maybe a pasta salad. We will have to run into Westport to a grocery store I think. There used to be a neat lqs here too, that was run by women but they both had such bad attitudes, bad-mouthing their customers that people stopped coming to the shop and started driving 25 miles inland to Aberdeen. Of course this made the shop owners even angrier at their clientele. I saw it myself on previous visits here. Finally, they closed the shop moved back to Seattle.
Jana, that is so sad about that accident. I hope it was no one that you know. You are right! What you described as Utah scones was served with butter & honey and exactly what Mom made for us. Only mom made them with cinnamon and sugar and called them fried cakes. No matter what you call them, delicious. Mom stretched out of biscuits worth of bread and dropped it in to hot oil. A few seconds on each side to go to Golden Brown, drain, and sugar. Yum ! We plan to make them on this camping trip. But using Rhodes frozen biscuit dough instead of homemade.
Irish, I think a trip into leaf country with your sis would be a fun idea. And maybe a lunch stop somewhere along the way. For soup! Split pea would Be my choice.
Tina, seems you are always feeding a crowd at your house. And wonderful meals too! (I know!). I would hate to have your grocery bill but I know you Enjoy it all.
Chickie, happy belated birthday to Tim & Timi! It was also my brother-in-law‘s birthday, Imitation Al.
Becca, I hope you get a sewing day soon. Save some of that yardwork for when your volunteer gardeners arrive
Not sure what We will do today. Walking the beach is on the agenda and a trip into town for a couple groceries and to just stroll main street and visit the shops. Westport is a little like a mini San Francisco only two blocks long. Tonight - cooking outside burgers and french fries. And maybe dumplings over cooked apples for dessert
What’s going on your table tonight

Good morning from warm, partly sunny, SW. Pa...I think we're to get rain but later in the day.....
Mary, this camping trip sounds very relaxing, my kind of do nothing trip....But, your trip into town sounds like fun....Just in our paper this morning, the "leaf peepers" are predicting a delay in the color and maybe not as pretty this year...But, I'm sure my sister and I will be doing something and it always includes lunch, that's a given.....
I'm running again today...Need to get to Walmart for, what else, cat food, then Eye appointment, stop and play with Dan's fur kids, then back home for Terry....Hopefully, if the rain holds off, he'll be able to take care of a few outside odd jobs for me...Yesterday I did use the weed whacker and of course, today, the arms are letting me know, lol...Had a call from Kathy last night and then she had to send me pictures of Hawaii...They were on a private beach, I think she said, owned by the military...Pictures were heavenly...AND also had a call from Cari. It was their 2nd anniversary and they had gone out for ice cream AND still waiting the arrival of little one....
And now, get some shoes on and be off....Hopefully you all will have a great day and do something special, for yourself......
Not sure what my dinner might be, maybe Terry will pick up a pizza.....
Happy eating.................

Hello everyone, cloudy here but that’s good, keeps the temps down.
Jana That was a horrible accident.Made me wonder how the road was & if alcohol played a role.Very sad.
Maryz There is much Yard world for DD & DSIL.Its been neglectied for 2 yrs. They also plan to cut some laurel & drag in woods.I can keep them busy.
Irish They said here our leaves will be a month late.I believe it bec nothing has turned & it takes cold weather which we have had 0 so far.Great to have Terry to help.Enjoy all your fur sitting.
Tina You do feed a lot of people.I did that too when the grandkids were all growing up.Our oldest DS always come for 2 wks every summer & 1 wk for Christmas. He had 4 boys so it took a lot plus all the others joined us too.Thats when I did all the cooking. But What fun & wonderful memories.
Chickie Guess you & Holigans are taking walks.I loved your description of your flowers & the Farm.We have the asters, black eyed Susan’s ,& sunflowers blooming.Plus my chrysanthemums & merrigolds & Lady of the lake that looks like snap dragons & cosmos. So it’s colorful still. And I’m still watering.
Pam Hope all is well.
Today DS is here.So we’re having chicken pie, cole slaw, baked sweet potatoes & carrots roasted. Becca
Got my laundry done.DGS facetimed Too.DD & DSIL had an experience on their cycling trip.First nite 4 ins of rain.Next day they were in flooded roads & mud. They went home for DSIL to Service the bike & clean it.They said they never got in anything like that all the way across America. So they headed back out this morning & joined the group to head on across our beautiful State. And they were camping in a tent when all the rain Came .Said it was water running thru the tent.I cannot imagine but they are back at it.

Good morning!
Mary - enjoy the ocean for me too! Your trip into the small town will be fun!
Irish - kitties need lots of "pets" as Ethan calls it. Hope the carpet gets gere soon.
Becca - uggh mud! They are troopers to go back out in all that!
The road with the accident is a t-intersection. The police do believe that the driver was inpaired, but the toxicolity reports will be weeks. The victims were not from the area, but a city closer to SLC with lots of gang and drug problems. They were in that age range, so we wonder.
Well, the pipes are all in, covered, tested and a very minor dampness on a water pipe, so Michael will use a bit of hose repair tape to solve that issue. That takes care of outside chores getting ready for winter. The clematis vine that our neighbor gave us is doing very well. The nursery gives her the plants that are struggling and heading to the trash and she shares with me. So far, all have survived and are growing. Quite a achievement for me with my brown thumb!
A few uglies and a run to the store. Need a spool of orange thread for a back of a quilt and milk.
Crenda brought out dinner last night, it happened to be exactly what I had planned to cook. So tonight I will have to cook something. Tons of fixins, just need to decide on what.
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: Supper club. Tuesday, October 2
Good morning! I’m back in shorts from the capris of last week. We are going for 86 today. What??? This is October!!! I can’t complain—at least it’s not 30s! Eighties are liveable.
Mary--Oh, I’m jealous of the sounds of surf! Sounds like you are having a great time, Mary, and won’t be starving! I vote for JoJo fries tonight! One of the LQS around here (now out of business) had an owner with crazy bad moods/attitude—you never knew what she would be like when you went in there. I hope you’ve been beach walking!!! I would love the tiny town!
Wa, oh! Got caught on supper club rules breaking. I’ll behave tonight!
Irish—I like porch sitting! How nice to have a bunch of peppers! I need to check when I walk Choc later and see if there are any left in DS’s garden. I hope you get to go leaf peeping! The maple trees haven’t started changing here yet. We have a few of the pretty ones over by the barn. I used to send fall leaves to my friend in California because she didn’t have seasons. Those pets go through a bunch of food and treats! Sounds like things are busy with your family! How are those baby quilts coming along?
Jana—thanks for the scones lesson! Who knew there were fried scones! I sure didn’t. I’ve only had the British ones made with cream or sour cream—no calories in them, either, compared with the Mormon soul food variety. A couple of years ago at “our” T-intersection, a guy went through in the middle of the night and tore up a bunch of trees in the lane at the end of our farm where Ava and family live. I think they slept through it. He sure messed up his truck! I think he was either asleep or chemically relaxed.
Becca—I have lots of yard work. I watch it from my sewing room. I like wild flowers; just wish the real weeds didn’t grow. I wish I’d have planted marigolds, zinnias and gotten some chrysanthemums. I may still pick up some of them. My cosmos didn’t come back this year. I haven’t seen Lady of the Lake, but I always liked snap dragons. Our catalpa trees have clusters of blooms that remind me of orchids or snap dragons.
Tina—I guess you are baking up a storm. I wanted to make peanutbutter cookies, but the “want” passed when I remembered neither of us needs any. I’ll be making mints for Mom’s party.
It was morning when I started this note. Then DH arrived for brunch, the Hooligans and I walked to walk Ava, DH wanted some lunch, I unloaded the dishwasher and put some other stuff away… here I am. Late as always!
We have Audubon meeting tonight, and if I’m lucky we will stop and eat a taco. If I’m not lucky… beans and rice for DH and soup for me.
Bon appétit!

Hi, everybody. A lot has happened. I lost 10.2 pounds, gained back 4.5 in one weekend, and am back on the track to losing. For supper tonight, I had buttercup squash soup with a great big dollop of fat free greek yogurt in it. I also had some little "mac n cheese" thingies.

My brother came home from the hospital. He amazed the physical therapists, and was walking with a walker and doing 6" steps with his good foot. He got home and promptly advanced himself to a cane. Then, he had chest pain to the er, and admitted with more blood clots. Another in his lung, and the leg ones are bigger.
