SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, July 26
Good morning!
Today is Scottie's birthday!! Yay, Scottie!! We have cake, too, but he can't have any. It's chocolate. But he'll get some nice dehydrated lamb lung. He'll be happy!
Yesterday I sewed for about 8 hours. Whew! Even for me, that's a lot. Working on my DB and SIL's anniversary quilt. I got 6 blocks finished (did 4 the previous day), and did some cutting for more blocks. It's a time-consuming bugger! I need to have this ready to pop into the mail by Monday, August 6. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. ;o) So you can guess where I'll be today!
Autumn is coming to visit this weekend so we'll be all about family for two days.
CHICKIE - little brown shorts is a great reason to order your dog food on-line! lol!! how did the Preacher's Little Grandkid visit go?
BECCA - that was a nice rain! I miss rain. Bill doesn't, but I do. Bill, born in Michigan but grew up near the coast had enough of rain there to last his lifetime, he says! You have a lot of feasting to do in your days ahead! lol!
JANA - we buy Costco milk, too. The problem is that when we go for milk, we buy a lot of other stuff, too!! It's expensive milk! I've been resizing Bill's wardrobe, too. Though he has a few things he won't let go of. His work outside jeans look almost like a dirndle skirt on him, they are so big! lol!!
PAM - glad your family is finding its way back to each other. It's a shame when one parent is so angry at the other that they tell lies to the kids like that. It hurts the children the most, depriving them of parental love.
Supper tonite will be pinto beans, I think, with onion and bacon in them. I will put them in the crockpot out on the deck. Possibly over boiled potatoes. Though my potatoes look like they came around the Horn, they have so much mileage on them, so they may have to be 'retired' and we'll just have beans instead. And salad.
I hope your supper isn't too 'elderly'.

Good morning!
Mary, yes Costco can get you! We head directly to the milk and eggs and try to go back out. Yes, that new shirt jumped in the basket along with some bacon. Not too bad. I need to have bacon or sausage in the house - Ethan loves them both. So being the not spoiling grandma I am, he gets tbem! LOL!
Not much going on here. My cleaning fairies will be here this morning to wash my kitchen cabinets. They begged for a sevice project. I already did the gloor and counters - dushes done too.
Dinner - sorry, it is banned. Muchael has requested banned food at least once a week. Salad to swim beside. Tee-hee!
Pam - every family has someone like that. Here it is my oldest brother - he told all his children, all nine of them that I wanted nothing to do with them. Well, they saw through his lies and deceptions and come and see me anyway.
Well, need to scoot off,
Enjoy,
Jana

Hot, smokey, humid morning again. Brown haze obscuring the sun, making it blaze orange. So glad I don't have lung issues. We walked early but I was sweating by the time I got back. No yard work today because the sprinklers water twice in our allowed watering period. Pool is 94, only wet, not cool. We want to go camping but the air quality is bad up in the mountains, as well as they are having daily thunderstorms.
Every family has its issues, or one who just goes against the grain. In my family of 5 kids it was my father. He was a mean, emotionally abusive person and has damaged all of us in one way or another. Fortunately we have overcome the best we can over the years and all of us kids are decent people. However, my 3 brothers cannot forgive and refuse to acknowledge Dad's birthdate or death date. We had the sweetest, long suffering mother and her dates are always acknowledged. I guess one just has to do the best they can in every situation.
I am now working on a panel quilt for my grand nephew on DH's side. He is 8 and is subject to his mother's and grandmother's difficult personalities. We have been estranged from them off and on for years as they dragged us into their drama, financial woes and bad decisions. Now we are trying to repair the breach. The kid loves owls so I am making the Mystic Owl quilt for him. It is a shame the innocents are always in the middle.
So there you have it for today, inside and more inside. I could do some deep cleaning, but just don't feel like it, the heat saps my energy. Might have to clean my desk, though, can't find the checkbook! You all have a good rest of the week, hug your loved ones and prayers for all those in need.
DH says dinner is shredded chicken in verde sauce in small flour tortillas and homemade salsa with corn on the cob! Sounds good for a hot day.

Good morning ladies,
This house is pretty much back to normal. DH is in p.t., and look is back to normal but still has staples that will be removed on Tuesday. That poor dog had so much done to him and he never complained or anything. Only had the pain meds for two days and that was to help keep him quite. He is still restricted as to any activities, but he is doing well.
Today was my TOPS day and I continue to lose since we got back from vacation. Today is going to be my cheat day. DH wants Mac and cheese and I promised him I would make it for us after my weigh in. That will give me 6 days to take it off. Lol
Soooooo dinner tonight is Mac and Cheese. I mean the real Mac and Cheese not the stuff that MaryZ hates. Lol
Working on a table runner of snowmen for my DD2 for Xmas. Hope to get it done today.
Oh yes, I almost forgot DH went back to playing billiards for the first time today. As I said things are getting back to normal.
Hugs,
Carole

Happy birthday to Scottie! Today is also my sister’s birthday. She and her grandson came out yesterday, and I was right… his attention span is measured in nanoseconds. Whew!!! I know it will take my sister a week to recuperate from this week with him. I made German chocolate brownies and made frosting with Tina’s scratch recipe. Soooo delicious! I could eat that stuff with nothing under it! (and did!) I was glad I didn’t wait to have the little guy help mix. He could hardly shake some sprinkles on top of the frosting before he was off and into something else! We took the ATV and went riding around the farm. He got to feed some corn ears to Timi. He also picked up some special (to him) rocks from the dry creek bed.
Mary, that’s marathon sewing! I never can find that many hours in a day for sewing. I know you will have the quilt finished an on its way by your deadline. You are like the Little Engine that Could, for sure!
Becca—I’m still looking for rain. We had a few teaser drops, but they never connected… just plops in the dust. The Hooligans walked with me early to let Choc out, then when we went to Ava’s, Odie stayed home on the sofa. Such silly kids!
Jana—when I lived in Missouri, I had a Sam’s membership (no Costco within 120 miles). Things sure jumped in the basket there as well. Michael has healthy requests! So glad your family didn’t believe your brother. I wish I had cleaning fairies!
Linda—I hear you with family difficulties. We’ve certainly had our share as well of the drama and craziness. Things are good now. Yes, we have to accept what we can’t change and do the best with that we can. I want to join you for dinner!
Carole—good to see you! I have gained 2 of the hard fought, lost pounds. It’s so hard to maintain. Glad to hear Luke is doing well! That was an enormous tumor; it definitely needed to be removed. I like mac ‘n cheese. We don’t have it often. Glad DH is getting back to normal, too!
I think I’m going to try to do some sewing this afternoon. I’m quilting on a Halloween panel. I want to practice some free motion quilting on it. Tomorrow I’m going to the LQS for their Christmas in July sale. I need some of the batting I use in placemats as well as Christmas fabrics for shower presents for the bride getting married in December. And, I have a list of a few more items. Since it’s a 60 mile round trip, I tend to spend the bank when I go.
Dinner tonight… small steak for DH. I’ll make some broccoli to go with, but he won’t eat but a bite or two. It’s really hard to cook for someone who is not hungry and nauseous. I made some pico de gallo from garden produce, and I’ll have it with something… maybe take a page from Linda’s dinner.
Bon appétit!

DH said he just wanted to have some cerial, later. His tummy gets funny, and he ate his lunch late. Well, I wanted real food. I sauteed up some chicken breast pieces, and added beer flavored mustard. Then, I made a salad out of avacado, tomato, and red onions, with plenty of lime juice. Sounds like a healthy dinner, until you hear about my dessert. It was chips and dip! I start Weight Watchers in a few weeks. I wonder how many points that was.
Have a nice evening, peoples.
