It's nice and cool this morning. Going to about 80 today - just purrfect. I think Bill had a nice birthday. We went out for BBQ at Dickie's, just the two of us. One just opened up here a couple years ago and Bill wanted to try it. He liked his little cake. To me, it was just another chocolate cake - aka, a waste of calories. I LOVE cake, but make mine white, please! We'll celebrate again on Tuesday with friends and next Saturday with family. That's a lot of cake!
I'm well into Section 9 of my Gypsy Dancer. Just one more section to go after this one. I'm already thinking of making a second one to give to my dance partner (and BFF). I think she would love it as much as I do. I plan to embellish it with bits and pieces of jewelry from my old costumes.
Today is a sad day here. My kitty, Riley, has a vet appointment at 0900. She's 19 yrs and 3 mos old, and a day, if you want exact count. She's in really bad shape and getting worse. Just this past week she's stopped eating and drinking, can barely walk, and suddenly doesn't seem to see or hear. They will do an exam to make sure she's not just sick, but at her age, we wouldn't do anything but meds for her anyway. The house will seem so empty without her hair all over everything.

TINA - I think that cake recipe was good on the back of the Hershe's can. I used the Special Dark variety. I'm just not a lover of chocolate cake. It doesn't taste like chocolate to me. But I CAN eat it in an emergency. And birthdays are considered emergencies. How did your dad's appointment go? I told Bill the same thing when he retired - that I'd like to retire, too, but SOMEONE had to do the cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, and gardening so I declared it was all now half his responsibility. Of course, he would never initiate any of those chores on his own, but he will help is I put in a formal request.
LINDA - I think city life is everywhere now, I'm sorry to say. And these kinds of folks are the first to cry foul if someone were to do to them what they are doing to others. Happy Birthday Eve Eve!!
PAM - so - what did you get for your birthday?? What kind of cake did you have?
BECCA - it's very scary knowing that little kids live close to that dog. I hope they have a good, strong fence! They are asking for a lawsuit!
CHICKIE - a nice day for you - get to visit your DD, no rental work, possibly no cooking. I hope DH's dr appt went well. I bet your jam is delish! I love hot pepper jam over cream cheese. One of may favorite appitizers. Yes, Gypsy Dancer is the purrfect place for orphan blocks! I've done a fair amount of 'improv' in this project.
JANA - happy new chairs! I'd be going to the warehouse myself, too! I do love peanut butter on chocolate. I put a glop of peanut butter in the cake, but it was so chocolatey that the flavor didn't come through. For my DDIL, I make peanut butter cake AND icing. And she makes it for me!
I think I'll be spending a lot of time in my sewing room this afternoon. It's my happy place. But it will be sad not having to move Riley every time I want to iron something. She always loves to sit on my warm ironing board. Supper will be either leftover BBQ meats or carbonara, which ever sounds good at suppertime.
