SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, July 21

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Jul 21, 2018 3:51 am

Good morning!

It's nice and cool this morning. Going to about 80 today - just purrfect. I think Bill had a nice birthday. We went out for BBQ at Dickie's, just the two of us. One just opened up here a couple years ago and Bill wanted to try it. He liked his little cake. To me, it was just another chocolate cake - aka, a waste of calories. I LOVE cake, but make mine white, please! We'll celebrate again on Tuesday with friends and next Saturday with family. That's a lot of cake!

I'm well into Section 9 of my Gypsy Dancer. Just one more section to go after this one. I'm already thinking of making a second one to give to my dance partner (and BFF). I think she would love it as much as I do. I plan to embellish it with bits and pieces of jewelry from my old costumes.

Today is a sad day here. My kitty, Riley, has a vet appointment at 0900. She's 19 yrs and 3 mos old, and a day, if you want exact count. She's in really bad shape and getting worse. Just this past week she's stopped eating and drinking, can barely walk, and suddenly doesn't seem to see or hear. They will do an exam to make sure she's not just sick, but at her age, we wouldn't do anything but meds for her anyway. The house will seem so empty without her hair all over everything. :o(

TINA - I think that cake recipe was good on the back of the Hershe's can. I used the Special Dark variety. I'm just not a lover of chocolate cake. It doesn't taste like chocolate to me. But I CAN eat it in an emergency. And birthdays are considered emergencies. How did your dad's appointment go? I told Bill the same thing when he retired - that I'd like to retire, too, but SOMEONE had to do the cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, and gardening so I declared it was all now half his responsibility. Of course, he would never initiate any of those chores on his own, but he will help is I put in a formal request.

LINDA - I think city life is everywhere now, I'm sorry to say. And these kinds of folks are the first to cry foul if someone were to do to them what they are doing to others. Happy Birthday Eve Eve!!

PAM - so - what did you get for your birthday?? What kind of cake did you have?

BECCA - it's very scary knowing that little kids live close to that dog. I hope they have a good, strong fence! They are asking for a lawsuit!

CHICKIE - a nice day for you - get to visit your DD, no rental work, possibly no cooking. I hope DH's dr appt went well. I bet your jam is delish! I love hot pepper jam over cream cheese. One of may favorite appitizers. Yes, Gypsy Dancer is the purrfect place for orphan blocks! I've done a fair amount of 'improv' in this project.

JANA - happy new chairs! I'd be going to the warehouse myself, too! I do love peanut butter on chocolate. I put a glop of peanut butter in the cake, but it was so chocolatey that the flavor didn't come through. For my DDIL, I make peanut butter cake AND icing. And she makes it for me!

I think I'll be spending a lot of time in my sewing room this afternoon. It's my happy place. But it will be sad not having to move Riley every time I want to iron something. She always loves to sit on my warm ironing board. Supper will be either leftover BBQ meats or carbonara, which ever sounds good at suppertime.

Good morning!
Mary, I'm so sorry for the loss of Riley kitty, I will miss her too.
Dad had the ones on the top of his ear removed and the ones on his face they froze.
The reunion last night was great! Tonight is the dance and all inside, I don't like being outside after dark but I still had fun visiting. Frankie's aunt is the last one from that generation left, she's really slowed down the last couple years but last night she seamed very quiet.
Supper tonight is Mexican food and they always have cakes done with the last names. Jazmyne gets to come with us again this year, it's her favorite thing of the whole year!

Mary, I am so sorry about Riley kitty. She holds a piece of your heart.

We went to the county fair, today. There were supposed to be camels, but we didn't see them. We saw cows and goats and sheep and bunnies and chickens and turkeys and pigs and ducks. You should have seen the teats on the momma pig, and they have a heat lamp for her squiggly babies. Don't know why - It is 80 out. We had italien. sausage and fresh lemonade.

Supper mey just be cucumbers and tomatoes, with maybe an apricot thrown in. DH is going to his friends house, tonight. ( Or out to the girlie bar, lol.) You can never tell, with those two.

I got a new phone for my birthday. This one is bigger and thinner. It feels very breakable. But I should be able to post pictures better.

Have a great day!
Pam

Hi Everyone, I was trying to figure out supper when my DIL called and invited us over for supper tonight. Costco pizza. Sounds good to me and no cooking involved. Said I could bring whatever I wanted but didn't think we needed much else. She had made an apple, carmel, salad too.

I am taking ice cream, cookies and cream.Rod got it on sale yesterday at Hyvee. Then I decided they needed a cake too so whipped up a marble cake. (A mix, I am not that ambitious.) Waiting for it to cool so I can frost it. May decorate it a little too with sprinkles or mini choc chips. To be decided later. Wanted a happy cake.

Thought about cup cakes but hard to marble all those cup cakes. Getting lazy in my old age I guess. It all tastes the same and less work in a pan. Wish you all could drop by and have a pc with us too.

MaryZ, so sorry about the kitty. Hugs for you today. But the memories will live on in your hearts. That is quite old for a cat.

Pam, a late happy birthday. Fair sounds so fun. Haven't been to one for a few yrs, always enjoy those.

Becca, Hope your hand is healing and things do indeed slow down a little around your house. Prayers always for you and DH. So much happiness, oozing off the screen as you wrote about the welcome excitement with your DD and DSIL coming to visit. Know you will have a great time together. Nothing heals like family and love.

Hi to everyone else, No time to write to all tonight. Need to shower and head out to son's house. May have to frost cake over there. Not cool yet. You all have a great weekend. Stay safe and enjoy the cooler weather.....at least it is cooler here after the rain and hail the other day.

God bless all, have a happy supper. Catch you on the flip-flop. Love and hugs to all, Shirley Mae
