Supper Club - FRIDAY, July 13th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jul 13, 2018 3:26 am

Good FRIDAY morning! Guess I got my days mixed up yesterday. What happened to Wednesday?? Bill had to actually convince me last night over supper that it was actually Thursday. But in my defense, we did get up extra early, even for me, showered fast and took off to Tacoma, arriving at restaurant to meet our friends at 0545. I was groggy. And guess I stayed that way all day long! lol!

PAM, I couldn't figure out what you were talking about when I checked back to S.C. yesterday afternoon - I hid the post? lol! but y'all found it! BTW, you do know, right, that the ban is back on!! Acchhh!!! Even my cats wouldn't eat calimari! What day is your birthday? We could probably work out a special dispensation for that one day.

TINA, ! I didn’t know your mom other than through your descriptions. But I knew my mom and she would never have wanted me to give up something I love as much as quilting. She would say “ keep making those beautiful things. Be happy. Do it As a way of honoring me and all I taught you.. Make it my legacy.“. I hope you find your joy again soon. Life is too short to concentrate on the negative. You CAN do this.

CHICKIE - Wish you would get some rain, too. You might be knocking on Tina's door, asking to borrow a cup of raindrops! I love rocks. Big rocks, flat rocks, colored rocks, odd rocks. I have them all over the yard.

IRISH - I love your menu - chips for supper and popcicles for dessert!

CAROLE - one of our late shelties, Misty, had a huge fatty tumor across her rump. Our vet said it wasn't causing her any problems and advised us to leave it alone unless it became troublesome. But I didn't like it. How are your exercises going?

BECCA - how is your hand doing? Is it open to air yet, or are you still sporting a bandage?

I asked Chef Alec about making pizza in the barbie. He said it was the best way to do it! Cook the crust on one side, flip it, add toppings, and put it on an oiled grill or pan, my choice. I think we'll try it tonite for our supper. I guess this would be kind of like wood-fired pizza, which is a 'thing'.

So - what about your supper? Irish, what kind of chips for supper tonite??

Good morning! I’ve lost days as well, and it’s super discombobulating when I learn and try to figure out and convince myself of where in time I really am. That was a super early breakfast! I’m not sure I could look at an egg or anything else at that hour!

Pam—there’s safety in numbers… I’ll do it if you will! We like cat food here, and we have no cats. I do draw the line at calamari—too much like rubber bands every time I’ve tried it.

Tina—those guys travel with coolers of beer for working in the hay fields. They would turn their noses up at lemonade. But, I like lemon in my water on my walks! I hope you find your quilting mojo!

Yesterday afternoon again, we had the pop-up thunderstorms. Clouds came, thunder rolled, and we got only about 2 drops—much less than the trace the day before. It didn’t get under trees—road gravel was still dry, too.

Mary—come visit again, and you can take home a Kansas stepping stone! I think pizza on the barbie would be awesome! I don’t have a barbie…

Irish—I like chips and popsicles! Every time I read you are having popsicles, I head for my stash in my freezer!

Becca—when we built a house ages ago, the contractor paid to have all the junk rocks hauled from the building site. He couldn’t believe later when I had carted rocks in from other building sites for my yard landscaping. It really was funny. They were big yellow ugly limestone things, but after I started the trend, other yards used the same rocks. Those rocks were fun to see all the fossils embedded in them, so they had value to me. They were free and in abundance around the neighborhood as the building was going on.
I’ve done an hour of yoga practice and swept the floors. We are under heat advisories again, so I probably won’t be walking much.

Dinner tonight… I’m thinking something on the naughty list with a bunch of fresh stuff like corn on the cob and tomatoes. I’ve run out of leftovers, so it’s cooking night… unless I get a better offer, which is always welcome.

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

Hot here today and muggy. We are never muggy, but probably at 2 pm, a thunderstorm will pop up. Very typical for here in July.

Not much here, carpets were put off for a few days. Getting some sewing caught up.

Mary - I have seen the chefs on cooking shows do pizza just like your chef told you. Good luck, how ever, it will be tasty!

Chickie - hopefully you will get some of the raun that is heading your way, via Tina's house first.

Becca - yes, right hands are good, especially if you are right handed. Me, it wouldn't be too big of a problem as I am left handed!

Pam - a black and tans is a ice cream sundae to me. If you remember the movie, Up, there is a ice cream shop, Fenton's in the movie. It is a real place and they make really yummy ice cream and a black and tan is their speciality. Not to far from the Pixar studios in Oakland Ca.

Humm, dinner - a chef's salad - something easy and cool.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good early afternoon from another gorgeous summer like day in SW. Pa... Don't thing we have any rain in the near future so I'll be out watering later today.....
I've just been putzing around making messes and trying to clean up....Not sure why but got an urge for lasagna so made up a very small pan...It's not that I'll be able to eat very much of it but I'm sure Nick will be down and growing boy that he is, it won't last long....He called last evening and asked if he could use my dryer, the one at home just wasn't working...Just wish he'd bring his clothes and move in, would love to have him.....

Nary, I'm also a lover of rocks but when I place them, it's never too good...Just today, in our local paper they were talking about rock/water gardens and boy were they gorgeous...Mind would be a mud puddle with a few pebbles......You know, you're not alone about not really knowing what day it is...I had to ask Nick last night if today was actually Friday......

Becca, hope the hand is feeling better even if it's still wrapped up...Just think how many times you would have banged or bumped it if it didn't have that ace bandage....It is hard trying to think of eating when you really don't have anyone to cook for...That's why I turn to the chips and popcicles, lol.....

Jana, I like your idea of a black and tan, but I also think of some sort of beer and it could be an Irish beer....I'd like to hear more about those kittens you were talking about the other day...Who do they live with?

Chickie, when we were having our rain, I would have gladly sent you all you wanted....But, now, it's going to be back to watering...I too find rocks very interesting...And just yesterday, there was a lady at our local Library teaching and showing how to paint on rocks...Years ago, when I helped with a craft shop, I had a gal paint our Red Persian, Simba's picture on a rock.....All dinner fresh things sound so good.....

Well, gotta scoot...I'm having my scan this afternoon and need to eat something early (at least 2 hours before)....Wonder if the scan will pick up what kind of chips or flavors of popcicles......
Might even try to run to JoAnn's after my test..
You all have a great day......

Happy eating...............

Lunchtime everyone:

Have to get out early to work in the garden because of the heat and monsoon humidity. We are usually dry heat, but like Jana we are usually dry heat. Today DH and I trimmed the Star Jasmine hedge we have at the back of the yard all along our alley fence. It had grown so much into the alley that the trash trucks were slapping it. So we filled up two big green waste cans cutting it way back. It is so hot and humid I sweat through all my clothes quickly, but I can strip and jump into the pool (although it is 88-90 right now) and somewhat cool and rinse off. I need a big bottle of water to rehydrate too.

I made a QOV for my brother and had lots of leftovers. So I used the scraps to make a scrappy QOV. There were STILL leftover over (but smaller) scraps so I made another QOV from those smaller scraps. Now I see I STILL have lots of little scraps, enough for another QOV made from smaller squares. This material just seems to propagate on its own!... like that never emptying pot of soup in the story "STone Soup". I just want to use up all the scraps. Can't believe I will have gotten 4 lap quilts from the leftovers.

DH has gotten the antiquing bug, looking for sewing things for me. So he wants to go to Fresno this weekend and check out all the antique stores we have never been interested in visiting before. All thanks to my SIL that we visited in WA. She is a picker and collects sewing items, so the bug has hit us!

We seem to have recovered from our driving vacation and are getting back into the routine of things at home. This pic was taken in Leavenworth, WA on our trip.

I'm making grilled Ruebens for supper, Dad is coming over. I might make zucchini too, not sure yet. He'd rather eat zucchini than anything else LOL

DH and I have gift certificates for pizza hut. Suppy will either be pizza, or some succotash, fresh cucumbers from the farm, radishes, cheeze cubes, baby carrots, and anything else bright I find to add. We will see what DH says. Right now he is wandering around with thloppers attacking bushes.

pizza hut won. We spent a grand total of $2.47 plus tip.

Since then, I have been playing on Facebook. We stopped at Walmart to get my birthday present of a new tracfone, but they were out. We did pick up some flavored waters to try. I am joining weight watchers in a couple weeks, and my pop habit will need to change. I don't do diet. The grapefruit has a small amount of flavor, but it smells awesome.
