SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, June 10

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Jun 10, 2018 3:22 am

Good morning, everyone!

We had lots of rain through the night but this morning looks pretty nice, if cool. Yesterday I finally got my strip scraps tamed! They are all ironed and cut into 7" lengths, some pieced to make 7". Strips are 1"-1-1/4" wide. I'm sewing them into 6-1/2" blocks. so far I have 16 blocks finished. I started with a wicker laundry basket full of scraps and now they would just fill a photo storage box. I think I have enough for two throw quilts. This will be my traveling sewing prooject. Kind of mindless so I can visit with the other quilters at our RV Rally and still sew.

I think I'll pull a few weeds today if the rain stays away. It's not raining nearly as much as was originally predicted.

IRISH - You should have a list of indoor and a list of outdoor 'sweetie-do's' for Nick so when he comes over to help you, rain won't "dampen" the activities! lol! I Googled the resort you are going to in Virginia. Oh my! Everything from zip-lines to massages! I recommend a massage. You are going to have such fun! And the views are spectacular! I wonder if it's anywhere near Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello. If you've never seen it, and have a chance, please go. It is FASCINATING! Thumbing! hahaha!! Now I have a mental picture of you hitchhiking down the highway, rolling your suitcase!

BECCA - you are the Energizer Bunny! But nice to have a young man come and help! That's a good thing! Will keep you youthful! I'm glad you are going to have a relaxing day today. Your yard will be a showplace next weekend for Father's day! I do get my 8 hours, usually. Occasionally, I wake up earlier than 5. If I lay there, awake, things start to hurt. So I get up to move around. I don't understand why I hurt laying awake and but not when laying asleep.

JANA - sounds like you have a big construction project going on! I bet the little ones are getting anxious! I know I am! lol!

CHICKIE - I like your idea for your 'modern' quilt. I may have to steal it! I'm so happy that you're so happy that your mom is so happy with your little quilt! I'm sure it brought good memories to your mind as you sewed it. I thought you had a family wedding coming up in September? Did I mis-remember or did it get moved?

LIINDA - I hope you are feeling much better! Will you be able to join your DH camping?

Last night I made sliced chicken breasts in half horizontally to make little 'steaks'. I breaded them with panko crumbs, fried them, and we had whole wheat angel hair pasta with the last of our alfredo sauce. Got a YUM out of Bill! There is chicken left so I might do a rice side dish to go with. Bill LOVES Rice-a-Roni! Almost any flavor. And of course, salad.

What are you loving for your supper tonite?

We are back from camping, or at least I am. Dan is on his way. We had a great time, and I only rained last night after bedtime, and this morning. I took a great book to read. I really like the author Susan Mallery. We did great fires and smores and chicken and italian sausages. We took too much, and brought about a third of it back home. Except for the rum. I had a party, last night. The mattresses on the cots were six inches thick. They were pretty comfortable. I kept eyeing the place up for a weeklong quilting retreat. The kitchen was a nice big room, where a few tables for sewing would fit in nicely.

My girls were so happy to see me. Now, I have cleaning and unpacking, and a shower to do.

I am contemplating pizza for supper - just a cheap $2 one from Aldis. Maybe add a little cheese to it.

Linda, I hope you are feeling better. I read up on what you-all have been up to over the weekend, and was worried about you.

It is lightly rainy and cool, here. My garden likes it. Unfortunately, the grass does, too.

love,
Pam

G’day, Mates! It’s morning on west cost and afternoon on east coast and almost noon here. I’m doing laundry and hanging it on the lines. No problem getting it dry—extremely warm and a little breezy. After wheat harvest and the wedding next weekend, I’ll take some rain! DH went to work on the little house.

Mary—no September weddings… none that we know of anyway! Glad you like my modern quilt setting idea… feel free to use it! Your dinner sounded delicious!

Pam—camping sounds like you had a great time! Wish we were closer for that sewing retreat! Pizza sounds yummy! I like to add veggies to “my side”. Our weeds grow great in hot, humid weather. It’s amazing how fast they take over.

Becca—My mom has had an afternoon nap ever since I can remember. It’s the sacred hour. She used to work an early shift at work, come home, grab a nap, and then be up when we got home from school. She could then stay up until we went to bed (usually at her sewing machine!), and then get up to be at work at 5:30 a.m. She still gets up early, has breakfast and reads the paper, pops back for a morning nap, up and dressed for the day and lunch, then her afternoon nap. You can almost set your clocks by her naps!

Irish—skip the zip line and take an extra massage session!

Last night I was chopping stuff for my dinner and took of half my thumb nail and dug down into the meat of my thumb. It’s not pretty, and it is pretty sore. I’ll be more careful tonight! I’ll probably go for soup and salad, and DH will have some protein.

Bon appétit!
