Supper Club - Thursday, June 7

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Jun 07, 2018 3:39 am

Good morning!

I'm back! Busy day yesterday! I meet my across-the-road neighbor every morning at 7:45 to walk. And I was almost late, a sin for which there is no forgiveness in Scottie's eyes! After that it was race off to the chiropractor, then to pick up our mail, and then to Ace to look at something for Bill's birthday, which I ended up passing on. I didn't get home until almost noon. I washed fabric and hung it out, then at 2:00 Bill said he had to go to Discount Tire (20-mile RT) and needed me to go along to bring him home - and then back again two hours later to pick truck up. So a big part of my day was spent on the road.

Today - back on the road, but just not as many miles. I have my annual physical this morning. My guess is I'll be stopping by a drug store to pick up a new bathroom scale after that. :o(

As for sewing, I'm still getting all my scrap strips ironed, pieced where necessary, and cut into 7" lengths. I'm sewing them together to make 6-1/2" blocks and last night in my sleep I sewed those blocks together all night long. I think this quilt could be referred to as a 'crumb quilt'. I should do some yard work in our front beds. And maybe I will! Though probably won't . .

CHICKIE - There aren't too many Miriams around and I guess it sounds a lot like Marilyn. But now you are called Chickie! At least you aren't called "Nancy", which is what Bill's mom called me. That was Bill's 'ex', who his mom didn't even like!! But then she didn't like me, either. My Autumn has always been called Amber. She's learned to answer to both! lol! Your scrap quilt is beautiful! You did a very special, loving job on it and your mom will be thrilled. She HAS to be!

BECCA - prayers for your little Kade. Love his name! Nice that your DD has the Father's Day celebration all in hand. You have such a nice family!

VELDA - safe travels!

IRISH - I love Ruby Begonia! Everyone should have a middle name. What is yours? Irish ------ What?

JANA - now that the little hands have gone home, what are you working on these days in the Batt Cave? Still Sunflowers? There is a perfume called Sunflowers. It's my younger sister's favorite scent.

PAM - I bought a foot for STID and it works wonders! Now it's darned near purrfect! And it's all in the foot. I was terrible before the foot came into my life. I'm with your hubby!! Once, before we FINALLY got people to label their foods for allergy alerts at our RV Rally, I took a bite of chip dip and almost instantly threw up on the floor. I made it to the trash can in time, thank heavens. There was some kind of seafood in it and it really triggered my gag reflex as soon as it hit my tongue. Taking the "little things" out doesn't work. They leave their flavor behind.

I think supper tonight is going to be pizza. I have leftover sauce in the freezer, and turkey pepperoni in the fridge that needs to be et up. I'm trying to 'eat down' the freezer in preparation to leaving for 3 weeks. Of course, since we're also taking a freezer with us, some of it is just going to be transferred.

What's the plan at your house? I always get good ideas from all of you!

P.S. TINA is now in Virginia, relaxing for a week before they start their return trip.

Good morning!

Mary - you are always busy! I am a sewing feet junkie! I love all the different feet. I have a ditch foot, a quarter inch foot, a flat felled seam foot, a invisible zipper foot and a whole bunch more! With the invisible zipper foot, I can put in a zipper in less than 5 minutes!

Not m7ch here, should get to work on the sunflowers and the underwear for the little boy.

Dinner - I have a nice ribeye that will jump on the grill with a salad.

Good news that Tina made it, now to pray her back home to New Mecico, safely and the RV too!

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! I’ve been rolling around on my yoga mat for an hour. It sure works out the kinks for the rest of the day. I love the stretches!

Mary, thank you for the comments on my scrap quilt! It was a fun challenge to see what I could make with your leftovers. I’ll take it to Mom on Saturday.

I had a surprise last evening. We took LB out to dinner for his help on the roof. Leftovers tonight! DH has steak, and I have chicken.

Jana—I’ve never used a flat fell seam foot! We learned to make flat fell seams in 7th grade, and I’ve used them frequently. I also like French seams. I used to have the invisible zipper foot, but no more. I do have the quarter inch foot with the blade and the stitch in the ditch foot that I also use a lot. I guess I’m a sewing feet junkie, too, as I ordered several extra when I got my Pfaff.

Pam—I’m working hard to do my own machine quilting, but it’s hard to wrestle the larger quilts. I do fairly well with straight stitching, but the free motion is really difficult. Good luck! I do recommend the stitch in the ditch foot. I also use the quarter inch foot with the blade for stitching ¼” from the seams. I set the blade/guide in the seam and stitch away.

Becca—I hope Kade is better soon! RMSF is very prevalent here, too. We never had ticks as a kid. There were no deer. With the deer came the ticks.

Around here, the Hooligans are READY and waiting for the walk to Ava’s after brunch. They are so funny sitting on the porch when I go put on my walking shoes. They don’t like it when they don’t get to walk.

Mary—good luck at the physical. I always dread mine. Finally, this year I had an improvement in my cholesterol, but it’s still not under 200. The “good” stuff balances it, so I don’t have to take meds for it. Oh, I was walking around the yard last night, and I really need to get out and do A LOT of yard work! It’s just so hot and miserable. The lane where we don’t mow is wild and beautiful—all the Queen Anne’s Lace is blooming in profusion. I really like the look! Too bad the flower beds are just weeds and not blooming ones. I’m glad I’m not called Nancy, either! I like your crumb quilt idea!

Irish—I hope you are training Ruby well and she stops at all the Subways, Chinese buffets and quilt shops!

Tina—enjoy your R&R!

Vel—happy trails!

We’ll chow down on the leftovers… Bon appétit!

Hello ladies,
We are hot today! Sounds like you all are staying busy. We are too. We have already started into our first band camp of the summer. Gosh, I could have used a couple more weeks. I was starting to like the extra 20 minutes of sleep in the mornings. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.
Think we are having sub sandwiches tonight. Everyone can make their own, depending on what they want. Ericka can have most of the stuff I have, and she can have it on salad, or the gluten free rolls I got her. She said they weren't too bad smothered in peanut butter! Ha...
Prayers for everyone's travel, and sickness and for each of you in general. Becky

I am prepping for camping, tonight. I did some shopping, and got the italian sausage at my favorite meat store. They make it best. Aldi's had little corns for 10¢ an ear. Everybody likes corn. I am making a cucumber salad. I need to sweat the juice out of the cucumbers overnight, and add the sour cream and onions tomorrow. I am going to slice the peppers and onions, tonight, too. And I got these humongous marshmellows for smores. I also picked up some coke and some Captain Morgan's coconut rum. My aunt got me a book from the library. I gave Aunt Stelly the instructions on which remotes to use and how to navigate through the roku to find the cable app, so she can watch tv with the girls. Dan and I both got bowls and plates, so we have plenty. I am taking real silverware. And can't forget my pillow. I am tempted to take my memory foam mattress, but Dan has already reminded me that anything that goes camping goes through the laundry when we get home. He wouldn't go for the mattress thing.

For supper tonight, I will be having leftovers. I will have to see what I can find for Dan.. an avacado, rice, cheese, cucumber, tomato, maybe some nuts, pickles, and I think I have a pickled egg left. He loves a buffet of little things.

We are going with a friend and his girlfriend. It is so funny. I was thinking we got a fancy cabin with two bedrooms. I was expecting a one room deal. She is apparently talking about only coming down for part of it, because we have such poor accomodations. lol.

(You have to carry water and walk to the bathrooms.)
