SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, June 5th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jun 05, 2018 2:49 am

Good morning,

Should be another nice day here today. Even our predicted rainy day fizzled, rather than drizzled. Not complainin', mind you. Just sayin'.

I got all the house cleaned yesterday but called a halt at our bed/bath door. I was pooped out. I also got in a few hours of sewing - no real project, just putting together some of the narrow strips I've been saving for years. Kind of mindless work and I listen to a book on tape as I sew. Today is the semi-annual 40% everything in the store sale at my favorite quilt shop. My friend, Claudia is going along to buy fabric for the sewing project at our RV Rally (They also have an Arctic Fox RV). She doesn't actually sew, but says she wants to learn and she has a beautiful mint condition 1950 Featherweight that belonged to her DH's mother. Our LINDA would love it! Bill got it all oiled up for her and it sews like a dream.

BECKY - I've been saying for years "When life settles down and gets back to normal . . ." ha!! If I ever had a normal, I've forgotten what it was!

BECCA - what a great idea - to get a neighbor boy to do some of your yard work! Chores that are overwhelming to us are nothing to young folks, especially boys. Would a regular yard service be do-able?

IRISH - we have about a dozen VCR tapes of 'events' - kids' plays, concerts, graduations, our wedding, etc. But our VCR player is long gone. Guess we should get those tapes moved to DVD's . . . I bet that lady who bought your tapes will be almost as happy to get them as you are to get them gone! Glad you are so happy with your Ruby!

JANA - what happened in your kitchen that it is taking more than a day to 'make a dent'?? My goodness! You must have let all the little ones decorate cookies! lol! Security research is still going on here. Still not completely satisfied with our security program. That's neat that Michael has some work if he wants it, but is a bit concerning that there are so few in the industry with his expertise.

PAM - camping will be fun! You don't take your girls? Nice to have such a reliable sitter close by though. I've heard of mango salsa and even made it a few times, but never put it on top of mac & cheese. Or do you mean "mac & cheese"? ;o)

I texted Tina yesterday about noon and they were in Hope, AK, still running.

Supper tonite will be pork chops, I think, with a baked sweet potato, salad, and watermelon. Easy cookin', tasty eatin'.

What's the plan at your house?

Good morning! I’m going to take a few minutes to check in here before I do some yoga practice. The Hooligans and I walked to let Choc out, and I got in almost 2 miles at 3.6 ph. My fastest walking time was 5.9 mph. The temperature was 72, but the humidity is 75%, so I’m needing some cool down time before I hit my mat.

I’ve been absent… helping DH with mowing, roofing, tree cutting up after the storms at two rentals… I haven’t had much time for anything else. That’s not to say that we haven’t been eating. I’ve gained 2.5 pounds… would like to think it’s muscle, but I know better.

Mary—Did you fill Claudia in on what a treasure she has! Start her with small projects so she doesn’t get bogged down by a big quilt.

Mary and Becca—I’m also waiting for “things to get back to normal”. I’m thinking chaos of rentals IS the new normal, and I don’t much like it!

Irish—I bet your new friend is going to be in ND heaven with all those tapes and the player! I love the name Ruby, too! My great aunt was Ruby. She taught me to crochet the one pattern I can do for afghans.

Pam—your mango salsa sounds delicious… on ANYthing, but I think I know what you mean… yum!!!

I made DH pork chop and apples last evening. Since he can’t eat much, he has 4 meals from one chop. Dinner will be easy tonight! I’ll have gazpacho or salad, or both. I like that it’s ready to eat when I am!

I think I’m cooled down enough now for some mat time. I’m not sure what the agenda is today… working somewhere. We are getting the little house ready. There is an older lady and husband who are moving here from Kentucky to be near family (her sister lives 2 blocks from the little house), and they want to rent it. DH has sent pictures, and she’s thrilled. Hope she will be long-term!

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

Mary - it takes me awhile to get things done with the bad hip. Moving is not it's favorite tbing.

So, I did get the kitchen wrestled away from the gremlins and managed to get the guest bathroom done too. Saw a spot on the mirror i missed, wiped it and smear the mirror, so will clean it afain today.

We are getting HOT! Hot as the hinges of he**! The wind is blowing hard too. Good day to hide out in the Batt Cave. I am not complaining, I like the heat better than the snow!

Dinner - finishing up leftover whatevers. Stu was here last night as he wanted to hang out with us, so he finished up quite a few.

Enjoy!

Good late morning from a semi sunny and much cooler, SW. Pa...Every once in awhile, the sun will come out and I have a feeling that's Jim giving me a poke to get moving, lol....I need more than a poke!

Mary, the whole house cleaned????How about trotting your body in this direction, I will be more than happy to let you take care of all my dust bunnies and anything else that has decided to take up residence....I'm beginning to think I'm out numbered, lol...I had often thought about having Jim's tapes put on DVDs but when he lost interest, I decided not to...
The gal yesterday, Dollie, was thrilled and I had given them to her, I couldn't charge...Knowing that she and DH were friends of one of Jim's best friends just really made it all special...We sat on her front porch and really got to know each other and it was great.....What was really funny, she met me at the door wearing a ND sweat shirt.....
I was just imagining you and your friend at the quilt shop...One thing for sure, she'll be learning from the best...Does her DH know what he's in for?
Your dinner really sounds good but then again, I'm lazy...But, I do have watermelon.....

Jana, I can only imagine what you're going through with your bad hip...The gal from yesterday is also suffering...She had had her replaced about 15 years ago and now needs it done again...Seems what they used before wasn't the ideal thing and she's suffering for it...I've always said, once you reach 39 it seems the parts start to wear out....Had to laugh when I read about it being Hot as the hinges of h..., my Mom used to say that often.....Hope you have a good day.....

Chickie, You know that chicken that runs around, that's you! But at least you still have your head...My heavens girl, you really do need a rest...I was just thinking, if Stephan was at his new base, I'd drive out to see him and then kidnap you....Everyone seems to agree, Ruby is the perfect name for the new baby....I had forgotten, when I worked a hundred years ago, we had one doctor who decided to name me "Ruby Begonia" and when he'd call the office, would ask to speak to Ruby...Kind of miss those days, sometimes.....Nice to hear you might get some good renters.....

Tina and Carole, wishing you both safe, happy travels.....

Becca, Hope you're having a good day and DH is feeling better...

Since today is just a tad cooler and Mary is busy today, I have no excuse but to do some inside stuff...Not sure who messed up my kitchen but next time, I wish they'd clean up...I also have some ironing to finish and also threw clothes in the washer...What's with the laundry, there's only me!
For my dinner, the stew or the chicken never did get made so I might just have a grilled cheese and sandwich...I have an appointment tomorrow so maybe I can talk my sister meeting me for lunch and then I won't have to think about tomorrow's dinner...Sometimes I do try to think ahead, lol......

You all have a great day......

Happy eating.................

Chickie, I do a $25 late fee anytime the rent is paid after the fifth of the month. Luckily my current guy doesn't make a habit of it. (Aunt Stella is a different story.) I also do a $15 discount if paid a month in advance. I have suggested to renters to consider getting and keeping a month ahead come tax season. Never have had anyone take me up on that offer.

Mary, my one girl couldn't go camping. She doesn't go out of the house. The other girl has been to Allegany on a day trip, before, and loved it. I wouldn't take her away from the scared one all weekend, though. When the scared one gets stressed, she eats inedibles. One surgery was more than enough.

Jana, hips can be aweful critters. I have heard of people who got their hip worked on and say it is the best relief they ever had. My Aunt had her hip replaced, and it got recalled. She has had nothing but problems and surgery after surgery. The last time they went in they couldn't do what they wanted, because so much bone is gone. My mom has been having issues with her hip and posture and balance. She is going to PT, and feels a big difference.

Irish Ruby Begonia, Ironing? The only time my iron gets plugged in is for quilting. If an item of clothing gets wrinkled, it goes in the dryer with a damp towel.

Becca, black eyed peas, cornbread and sausage sounds great. My DH is going to be stuck with baked beans and salad. It is a cop out, but it gets him some protein, me some fiber, and it is easy.

Tina and Carole, may the road rise up to meet you.

Hmm, watermelon sounds really good. Maybe I need to go shopping before dinner.

Have a nice day, everybody.
Pam
