SUPPER CLUB - Wed, May 9th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed May 09, 2018 4:08 am

Good morning!

We had a little gentle rain last night, but looks to be a nice day today - cloudy, 60's. Yesterday Bill finally moved the retactable clothesline that we had to take down two years ago for the Vicki Upheaval. And me with no dirty clothes! I cant' wait to wash and hang out our sheets! But not with threat of rain hanging in the air. Vicki watched us intently through the entire operation from her deck as we moved the lines. If she so much as touches it, I'm calling the sheriff!

I finished Chef Alec's apron and hat yesterday. Whew! Just need to attach his name labels and they are ready to go! I also chose three Christmas patterns for my birthday club friends. Going to make each of them a throw-sized quilt - Santas, Snowmen, wreaths. Might start cutting one of them today. I love Christmas seewing!

PAM - hope your sweetie does well with this new procedure.

CHICKIE - I LOVE the Texas two-step. and the ten-step. And I used to know a 16-step (aka Rebel Strut)! and I love the country waltz and cha-cha, and all those line dances. We even used to teach some of them. But we haven't been out dancing now for some years. I go barefoot most of the time and my feet spread so I had to sell all my boots. They fidn't dit any longer.

JANA - I had to go look up Rexburg, ID. Over there NE of Pocotello. No wonder you had so much snow!

TINA - how is the walking going? Count those steps, or can you drive it by car to measure your "mileage"?

CHICKIE -when do you go back to the dentist? Glad the worst is in your rear view mirror. My DDIL, Emily, is also now gluten free, egg-free, and walnut-free. I'm not sure what else. She tries to slip somethiing in now and then but gets sick again. And my DD, Lara, and Chef Alec are vegetarians so it's really hard to cook for family around here!

Bill noticed I wasn't in a cooking mood yesterday and he made tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. I did stir myself to toss a salad because the avocadoes had to be eaten. Tonite, we're going to the "famed Tides Tavern". My sister's renter from Colorado is in town house-sitting for her relatives. So my sis wants us to take her to the Tides for dinner tonite. Here's an odd story: My other sister's husband grew up in Nebraska. He is blind in one eye because his sister accidentally took it out with a pencil when he was 6 yrs old. This renter, about age 35, says she remembers going to visit relatives in Nebraska when she was young and said one man in the group of relatives was blind in one eye because of a pencil incident when he was little. Now they are all looking to see if older sister's renter is younger sister's "in-law". Even more odd, this has happened before with this BIL! Turns out he is related to friends of ours who are from Cinncinnati! Seems his family really "got around".

anyway, no cooking tonite. I will probably have a chef's salad or maybe chicken strips. Or perhaps we'll share a pizza . . . and since it's a tavern there just might be a tiny bit of beer . . .

What's your plan?

Good almost noon from sunny, warm, heavenly, SW. Pa....Going to be a purrrrfect day, getting almost to 80.....I was trying to plan my day as I laid in bed this morning at 6:30, with a fat cat on my chest ...Boy, I had a full day going and here it is noon and I have yet to get outside...But, the upstairs is looking pretty darn good and I measured the windows and have the fabric ready for new bedroom curtains....And I was so excited when I noticed the hummingbird feeder was almost empty...Hopefully, it's the birds and not all ants that are feasting.....

Mary, I agree, nothing like clothes dried on an outside line...There have been times, I've searched the house for something to wash, just to be able to hang out.....Jim always did say, the neighbors probably think I take in washing.....Besides that quilting shop in Ft. Myers, year round hanging out is another reason to move south, lol....Isn't it interesting about "lost" relatives...You always have to watch what you say, you never know who you're related to, lol....

Yesterday I had such a fun day...One of my lunch buds, has been widowed for at least 10 years, very independent had been "keeping company" with a fellow while in Florida....She kept saying, just a friend....Well, the friend came to visit and my friend asked me to go with her to the airport....I figure, I'm as nosiest as the next one, so would be glad to be of service....He turned out to be a very, very nice fellow, so easy to talk to and it was fun to see them together...He's from St. Louis and was amazed at our "mountains" and winding roads...He's only staying until Friday but I'm sure she'll show him around during his stay....And, if it's to be, it's to be...I'm just happy for her.....And better yet, we even stopped for lunch and I had left overs for dinner.....

Now if I could just get someone to want to go to lunch today, I'd be set....But, I am going to tackle a few things outside plus take care of the humming birds....The neighbors did finish the grass but I need to get the weed whacker running....My power washer came but I'm going to wait and let Nick try it out 1st, I think.....

I guess you all know, my Penguins lost and are out of the running for the Stanley Cup...BUT, all is not lost, our former goalie, Mark Andre Fleury now plays for Vegas and they have a super chance of going all the way...

As for dinner, that will hit and miss but I know, there's always that bag of popcorn.....

You all have a great day.....

Happy eating........

Hi everyone! Boy, that is very interesting with the story of renter and links. Wow it really is a small world after all.
I have leftovers from freezer today. Fix a huge pot of noodles and chicken when staying at our son's. I froze a bit and tonight, this will be our dinner with a salad. Need to go get groceries this afternoon.
Chickie: love the report of Boot shopping. That's what I prefer to wear for dancing. But thought I would never find a pair comfortable. At The Boot Barn, I let them help to fit me. Good thing, because, they really are comfortable!

Hi ladies,
You all are keeping busy too! We have two birthdays to go this week, at least ones we are celebrating for. DH & DD the 11th & 12Th.....so, we will have to see there. We have one more spring concert, then Brytt will be all but done....then the next weekend, graduation.....She is going to try to go into the medical field, she is really interested in psychiatry, but I guess we will see....
Kids said grilled ham & cheese and chips for dinner tonight. That will work....Ha...not sure what JR will eat, but we will find something. Ericka picked up an extra shift, so she will again eat before she leaves. She hasn't actually been diagnosed as of yet, but she was on gluten free and dairy free, but they are introducing the dairy back, slowly. The gluten free has helped, but not completely solved the problem, so not sure what they will try next. And I am not sure that she doesn't cheat a little either.....Her biggest complaint is that she can't have the pasta anymore, that is her absolute favorite. We have tried the gluten free, and she has a couple of them that are ok, but not the same......and she is picky on top of that!
Mary, that is very interesting about the renter. Will be curious to see, I grew up in Nebraska but don't remember anyone with the pencil story. Sounds painful.....
Well, this is the last weekend to make a push on my house before the hoards descend, we will see how far I get.

Good afternoon! I didn’t make it here earlier. DH arrived back from coffee before I finished my yoga. The hooligans and I walked to Ava’s and walked her. It’s 84, going for 90, no wind, not much breeze and lots of sun. Feels like SUMMER!

Mary—I hung out my laundry on Sunday. I love the sheets on the line, and I’m one of the crazy people who like towels out on the line—kind of scratchy if there’s not much wind. Wow! More sewing! You’ll have those babies completed next week! I would still be picking patterns and fabrics. My favorite boot scootin’ line dance was the waltz. I have no idea when the next dental appointment will be; he will call me. How nice to have dinner prepared for you! Dinner out tonight—purrrfect! Keep us posted on the pencil story!

Vel—Dinner sounds delicious at your home! It truly is a small world. I’ve gone walking in my cowboy boots, but I don’t make a practice of it. Our gravel roads are pretty rough for walking in anything with a heel—they can be treacherous in tennis shoes after the road grader comes by.

Becca—I’m with you about shopping for clothes any more. I had to dress up for work, and now I just don’t care about it. I’m probably going to be underdressed at the wedding coming up. Oh well! Your wedding event is imminent!!! Enjoy!!!

Irish—it’s so good to hear you say, “yesterday I had such a fun day…”!!! You deserve it! How fun to get to meet your friend’s friend and find out he’s super nice! If he was amazed at your mountains and winding roads, he must not have left St. Louis too often. You can get super lost in the Ozarks’ windy roads and mountains! As someone who found happiness way late, I wish your friend all the best!

Yesterday I used some fabric scraps from Mary to make a placemat for Mom. I finished quilting it, and today will be binding and making a napkin to match. I quilted part of it in a Baptist fan pattern using my sewing machine. I’d never tried that motif, and I really liked how it looked with the Oriental design of the fabrics. I think Mom will love it. I love scraps! There are plenty more, and I may make a sofa throw. Thank you Mary!

Dinner here tonight… the same old stuff. Yesterday I threw all my kale and cole slaw fixin’s into the slow cooker, added beans, canned tomatoes and a few little potatoes and made a huge pot of soup. It is easier to eat than in salads. I’ll come up with a half a cup of something with lots of protein in it for DH… chicken, fish, venison and a bit of veggie. He still can have no bread, beef, or anything “leafy”. His next appointment is May 25. He should be released to “eat” then… still tiny meals.

I saw on sew in where Carole posted all about her DD and family. After all their difficulties and crazy stuff, life is finally good. All of the kids are doing super amazing, and her DD has been keeping company with a super nice man. They certainly all deserve happiness! (Well, everyone does!!!)

Bon appétit!

Good afternoon!

The utilitiy marking companies have all been here and I now know where I can put my tree. Just need Aaron to dig hole, then purchase said tree. I also bought a big wooden playset for the backyard. All the kids will come and assemble it. The directions say that it will take 2 grown ups about 12 hours to build. Wonder if I have any grown ups? LOL! Ordered it from Sam's club and they deliver to the house for free! The price I paid, it should be free shipping! If you want to see it, it is called Cedar Summit Summerstone playset.

Spending spree today - went shopping for Michael. He got new slacks, belt and socks.

I guess you say that the plastic got heated up! LOL!

Dinner - leftover chicken, if DH leaves it alone until then.

Mary - yeah for the return of the clothes line! I detest clothes lines - a childhood thing! We never had a dryer, so everything was hung.

Irish - my beautiful days are heading east to you - it is purrfect here!

Becca - you will be busy and no one will remember the dress - they will al think and say how beautiful you look!

Chickie - we are in your temp range, but with some humidity and poss8bke thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Vel - I am on my way - love chicken and noodles! Yum!

Becky - your house sounds like mine a couple of years ago. Mine has quieted down, somewhat, but my little grands are growing up fast and soon it will start again.

Well, sitting here in the sun, and need to move back into the shade. If I typed wrong words, I can hardly see my screen, sorry!

Enjoy,
Jana

My grandma told my husband and I we were "related". Not by blood, but by family connection. When you live in small towns, everybody is connected somehow. Dan's great aunt was my grandpa's first wife. My grandpa was grandma's second husband. So Dan is my step third cousin, I think. Now, we did discover that Dan's middle brother dated their second cousin. That was a little close.

Dan is doing better, today, and the catheter is out.

It was beautiiful, today. Thunderstorms, tomorrow.

Supper tonight is pasta with tomatoes, green olives, black olives, and peas. That is what Dan will have. I will have a little mixed with a great big pile of "very tiny" mac n cheeses. I had a hankering.
