SUPPER CLUB - Monday, May 7th
Good morning!
Wow! What a whirlwind the weekend was. I'm glad Monday is here so we can get some rest! Nothing on our calendar until Saturday so we can do our own stuff. Bill's DB made it to the brunch yesterday but wasn't looking too good. But it was nice to all get together once again. We're trying to make some memories.
I was almost ready to start pinning pattern pieces to my chef jacket fabric yesterday morning and realized I had a size Medium. I was thinking it was a multiple size pattern. I made Med for Alec when he was 15. Achh! It's not going to work now that he's 21. So I've started thinking this through. A new pattern would be about $16+. The jacket is more ceremonial, not practical. So I decided to make an apron and hat instead. The pattern for that should still fit. And Chriss gave me an idea to make a tiny jacket and hat and frame it! I like that idea. And as much as I dreamed about this whole project through the night, I should be done with it by now, but I checked this morning. I'm not. Sigh.
PAM, sounds like you found a good solution to your chainsaw problem! As for cords, If they were new, they were still clean. I guess you can designate one for indoors and one for outdoors. And keep a package of cleaning wipes handy! lol!
JANA - maybe Lila should have been twins - two babies, no waiting! lol!! And you're right - those 5/8" seams look gigantic and a huge waste of fabric! lol!!
BECCA - I hope your DH will be doing OK by the weekend for the wedding. If he isn't, is he able to stay home alone or do you need someone to be with him? Perhaps he can make the wedding but skip the reception - or vice versa. I hope it isn't too long a ride.
LINDA - you do keep busy! Lots of quilts and lots of yard work! You will have a good time with your sis. My older sis and I have taken a few trips like that. I haven't been to Monterey in years. I remember Bill was sent to a conference there one time. There was a dinner and it was held in the Aquarium and tables were set among all the cylindrical tanks full of swimming fish. And then dinner was served - SALMON!! So everyone - well, not EVERYONE - happily noshed on fish while their 'cousins' looked on. Seemed in poor 'taste' to me.
CHICKIE - how was the shower? I bet you got a lot of oohs and ahhs over your beautiful placemats, napkins, and potholders!
TINA - how is Frankie feeling? Hope you didn't catch it!
IRISH - What's the word from PA? How is your BIL doing?
Supper. Gosh, I'm just not sure. There is one cooked steak in the fridge left over from the fajitas, so it's going to be something with that. Maybe warmed on the grill and shared a with baked potato and salad.
Have you got your menu worked out yet or are you going shopping in your freezer at 5pm?

Good morning! The shower yesterday was a lot of fun, and she got some really nice things—as well as some duplicates. She didn’t get duplicates of mine and DD’s! LOL!!! And, she really liked them—placemats, napkins, kitchen towels and potholders all done in sunflowers. Pam—they played a couple of games I hadn’t seen—“What’s in your phone?” (really fun), and Q&A about the bride and groom (over, under, correct).
Mary—you can make your label with a little chef’s coat and hat, too… Patterns have gotten unreasonable. I’m glad I’m not garment sewing now. I used to complain about $5 for a couture pattern. I hate it when I dream something gets finished and daylight arrives…
Linda—your Thelma and Louise trip sounds so fun! I really hope to do it with my DD and DGD like we did with Mom in 1985. We went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium on that trip!
Pam—an electric chain saw is more my speed, too. I’m thinking I need one of Jana’s battery weed eaters as well. We have an outdoor outlet on our electric pole in the yard where the meter is as well as outlets outside on the house. Good luck with your cord management!
I’m headed to Joplin today for another dental appointment. I’m going early and shopping for cowboy boots. They are my present to myself for meeting one of my weight loss goals and “holding”. Have I mentioned that I love cowboy boots? I traded high heels at work for heels on boots.
Dinner tonight… I made chicken salad for DH as well as egg salad. If I’m late, he may fend for himself. There’s also cottage cheese. If I make it home in time… asparagus, maybe some meat balls. He’s decided that potatoes (even tiny 1” ones) take up too much room. I’m sure I’ll still be on soup!
Bon appétit!

Hi ladies,
I am late, late, late.....by days, apparently! We have been super busy, getting ready for Brytt's graduation party, have several coming from back home, for the weekend...and had to take time out over the weekend, our niece's daughter graduated on Sunday, and our nephew from Chicago came for that, so busy all around....and this week isn't looking a whole lot better. Two spring concerts, field trips, and color guard camps.....but, tonight, I think we will have chicken alfredo. Erika is working, so she will eat before she leaves, and that means the rest of us don't have to eat gluten free in front of her! She appreciates that. I did try chicken tenders over the weekend, with the gluten free flour, and they weren't too bad. The muffin mix and cornbread that way, not so much, although she didn't mind them, so that will help a bit.....
You all have a great day....Becky

Hi everyone!
I think I'm supposed to be doing something now that the boys went home but I can't remember what. It's 95* right now. Frankie fixed me a track around our 5 acres with his tractor so I'm going to start my walking again, either late evenings or early mornings.
Dad's cardiologist had him go in after he saw his labs last week, he has to go do a stress test now.
Frankie is doing better, he's been working on our chicken coop today.
We're having store bought chicken for supper. I won't be eating my chickens, yucky....that's just wrong LOL These are pets for their eggs only.
Tina

Mary, I am glad you noticed it was a medium before you cut. I could easily have made the whole jacket to find it too small. I am glad your family was able to get together. Making memories is important.
Chickie, I am glad you had fun at the shower. Some people think games are lame, but I love them. I am sure your gifts were loved! And funflowers are a great kitchen theme. I will honor Dan's wishes and wipe the part of the cord that comes in the living room. He washes the sheets on the couch weekly, I can at least do that.
Becky, does Erika have celiacs, or is she just gluten intolerant? My aunt has a friend with celiacs who can only go to long horn steak house when they go out, because they keep the pans separate and do the true gluten free cooking. She gets sick very easily, and the better she follows her diet, the easier it is to get sick with mistakes.
Becca, I bought a tomato plant, today! I am thinking about planting it, tomorrow, even though it is about two weeks too early. I am just so excited with the sunshine and 60 degree weather. My awesome gardener neighbor has 5 tomato plants planted, but he has water teepees surrounding each one.
Linda, I love taking little trips. About 4 years ago, my husband chauffered me and Mom on some long day trips to the middle of the state for Row by Row. We drove ourselves around here. This summer, Mom and I have a shop hop scheduled one day in July. We are riding the bus to eight different shops in NY and PA. And we plan to win the grand prize of $100 at each shop!
Irish, we usually get similar weather. I hope it is as sunny in the Burgh as it is up here.
Dinner tonight is pink mac and cheese chowder.
Dan has a new to me procedure he is getting, tomorrow. They are putting clips in his prostate to hold it open, like curtain ties. Hopefully, he will be able to go off oral meds. They are finding dementia linked to flomax, and the others don't work as well. It is in the office, but they are doing general anesthesia.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, May 7th
Good evening!
Been busy all day! Laundry, yard and sewing sashes for Andrew's class. Brand new serger cones and made big dents in the amounts on the looper threads! Emma was my helper. She handed each piece that I needed, ready to feed into my serger. She was a big help, that is until Ethan showed up from school. Then she and he disappeared!
We got the sprinklers up and running for this year. Also got all the weeds mowed in the lower forty, ready now for Aaron to till up the soil. As Sarah and Michael were getting the drip system running, we found one of the broken pipes and it was pouring a fountain on the tractor, so Michael off to rescue his tractor and got soaked - down through his wallet! Every thing inside was wet, so he came in and dried out all the cards he had in there.
Dinner - grilled turkey burgers and a salad.
Ethan today at school was introduced to the cafeteria and how to get his lunch for next year. It was his favorite food - pizza with spicy meat, translation, pepperoni. He also had a salad. The only thing that he is unhappy with for a school lunch, is no water. He is a water boy for a drink. No soda and milk , only if there is a cookie to dunk or it is chocolate. To get calicum in that little boy is no problem as he loves all kinds of cheese! And he loves veggies!
See ya tomorrow, early, I hope,
Jana
