SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, May 6th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun May 06, 2018 4:02 am

Good morning!

How did your Cinco de Mayo go? I know we're all a wild crowd, so I hope we have no headaches this morning!

It's been a very busy several days here. Thursday was errands and housecleaning. Friday was housecleaning and errands! Saturday was the cemetery clean-up. I have blisters from raking. Then race home, clean up, and start getting food ready for company last night while Bill took a nap. I finally crashed by 9pm.

Today is all about Bill's family. His Uncle Ernie from Seattle is turning 82 and since he has no other family we all get together most years to celebrate. This year we're taking the celebration to Bremerton because Bill's brother can't ride in a car for more than 5 miles. Even at that, we're not sure he'll be up to this. This will be taking up most of our day, even though the actual meal at a pancake house will only be about an hour. We are driving the uncle and his lady friend (who is a surprise to us! lol!) I sure hope she's better than his last lady friend!

IRISH - Your post was long and interesting, but my main take-away was you don't vacuum because the cats are sleeping! My kind of friend!! Glad to hear Baby Girl is on track. Bummed that Kathy hurt her foot, though! I have heard that real Mexican food isn't that spicey, that it's Americans who add the heat.

JANA - congratulations to your Kate! I bet I was thinking Stu had two years of college done because he came home for Christmas break. I gave him extra credit!

TINA - I hope you have a quiet Sunday so Frankie can rest and get well. He's been pretty busy since he retired!

PAM - Bill doesn't 'do' laundry, but he will carry the basket for me, and he'll fold clothes if the dryer (which is downstairs next to the wreck room) buzzes while he's watching TV. But as for initiating the task of laundry, sorting, etc, nope!

CHICKIE - weren't you just praying for warmer weather?? Gotta be careful what you pray for! When is the wedding in your family? The 19th? Same day as the royal wedding?

BECCA - I'm sure your mom, and the rest of your family, never got over those losses, but just learned to live with that pain. Do you think there will be a place at the wedding/reception where your DH can retreat from it and rest a bit?

Tonite - leftover Mexican food! I'm not sure what all there is in the fridge - beans, tortillas, and taco salad makings I believe. And a little bit of bread pudding for afters.

And as usual, when it comes to leftovers, we have enough to share! Come on over!

Well, neither of the two chainsaws worked. I took them to my brother. He was able to get Dad's running, but it wouldn't stay on. I said to heck with it, and bought a couple 100 ft electric cords. Have been happily chopping stuff with the little electric one. More my speed, anyways.

I threaded the cord in through the window in the living room for power. Dan told me I couldn't do it that way again, because he didn't want it in the living room all dirty. So I kept ahold of the clean end and set it on the seat of the rider mower to stay clean. When I told him, he was not impressed. I told him it was clean, and not on the ground. His responce? Well squirrels walk there.

I don't know about supper. I may do something with the leftover pasta. The broccoli salad was good, and we have a little left.

Good morning!

Our Cinco de Mayo consisted at stopping off at Arbys and getting two greek tacos - gyros! LOL We ate dessert before dinner. LOL

Got my hands on Little Lila - had to pull The Grandma rank on Sarah. Sarah kept trying to telk me she had her first. Didn't work! LOL

Mary - when you start sewing apprarel again, that 5/8 seam looks gigantic! Took me awhile to make myself remember. I put a small piece of tape on the 5/8 mark, just to visually remind me.

Sunflower got a few more blocks assembled, before my wonderful electricuan turned off the power. He was connecting the fan in the bathroom in the Batt Cave. That needed to be done before the sheetrock. Everything is hooked up right and my power is restored.

Church is in a few and dinner will be grilled chicken, salad and what ever else I can come up with. Ethan and I cleaned off the deck, so it is now useable.

Enjoy,
Jana

Hello everyone, sunny here now but breezy.Just took my walk.Beautiful blue puffy clouds & Sky is indigo blue.so pretty.

Maryz You’re right you learn to live with the pain & move on.On my dolls I hand embroider the faces. And I do not use the pattern. After so many kinds of dolls ,bunnies, bears & angels you tend to make it your own. This is the first kind of doll I haven’t used yarn for hair.
Yes there is plenty of places CA can sit.I have thought of taking his scooter but think he won’t want to.We will see.

Jana So glad you pulled Grandma rights & got to hold Lila.I love babies,so sweet.

Irish Do hope PA is sunny today. And Baby girl stopped pouting. They are so temperamental sometimes.

Pam Weed eaters are a pain.I used to use them.DH too funny.

Tina Your DH will have to take a vacation to rest along with you.

CA isn’t up to par today so it will be soup for him & avocado salad for me. Becca

Morning all:

Just returned from our morning walk after church. It is overcast, but warm. Not having the baking sun on us made the walk more enjoyable. Love looking at everyone's yards right now with flowers and all the green. Soon it will turn to brown.

DH is cooking up a batch of spaghetti sauce for the month so I didn't even attempt to clean up the kitchen this morning. He has been happily working on his workshop or on the arbors he has installed in the backyard. I have started the trimming cycle for the summer. I try to do 1 trash can full a day, but I find I have to rest between each small bucket. Gets harder and harder to stay bent over for long periods of time and then have to get up.

My sister arrives in 4 days, so I have to move a lot of my sewing stuff out of the guest bedroom to make room for her. She will have to sleep with my stash, but she won't mind because she loves fabric too. Saturday we will drive to the coast, San Luis Obispo, for my cousin's celebration of life, then take a Thelma and Louise road trip up the coast to Monterey, where we will visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Then we will drive home on Monday, stay home for 2 days, then drive back to San Diego on Wednesday where I will stay for a week and visit other family. So life gets busy soon.

Finished up my QOV quilt and will send it off to the LA quilter, got back a baby quilt from my LA quilter and will get the binding on. Will post a picture when it is done. Now back to working on my BFF's beach quilt. Making progress on my to do list!

Not much else going on, DH made his own chicken tacos for Cinco de Mayo yesterday. Don't know what he has in mind for tonight, but I am sure I will like it.

You all have a great weekend and beginning of the week. Prayers to all those in need.
