SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, May 3rd
Good morning!
We're having nice weather this week - not hot, but not chilly either. Juuuust riiiiight. It shouldn't really start raining until we go camping again - May 14-17.
I got Orca together yesterday! Today I need to had the outer border and then the applique. I would have finished it, but Bill wanted to go to Tacoma to get truck tires rotates. So, I followed him in the car and we went to Joann's for their senior sale. I got fabric to back my orange bargello, fabric to make a chef's jacket for DGS, Alec, our new chef's graduation from culinary school, and a large yo-yo maker. So, while my sewing time was interrupted, I had no complaints!
As for Vicki and APS, I doubt they'll do anything. But as the reports pile up, one day, someone might be able to step in and help her. It's not for lack of trying from many different areas. It's that she refuses any assistance or to do anything, like take her meds, that will help her. Suspicion and paranoia are part of Huntington's.
JANA - glad you're back in the pink again. I bet Ethan picked up some hair-cutting tips at the farm! lol! I love gnocchi, too. Didn't see it on the menu last night, so I had to make do with carbonara.
PAM - my dad was a logger and chainsaws were tools of his trade. He didn't think I should run one though because I 'was a girl'. and yet he thought it was fine for my BFF, who used to build log homes, to operate a saw. She even had her own! lol! I know you'll be careful.
BECCA - you get so much done in the mornings! Will you be able to finish your bears today? How many are you making?
CHICKIE - your sunflower projects are beautiful! They might go very nicely with JANA's quilt! Last year at our rally, we had birds (don't know what kind) trying to build a nest under the slide of our RV. EVery day we broke it apart and the birds were getting pretty upset with us. We felt badly but since we were only there for 5 days, we couldn't let them finish the nest and lay eggs. On the fourth day they finally flew off to nest someplace else. Another year we had a next in the pin of our fifth-wheel and mama was sitting on eggs. and it was a calendar watch to see if the babies hatched and fledged before we had to leave. (they did). Otherwise, we'd have stayed home.
TINA - You have to do a lot of watering. We ran hoses to our sprinklers and put them on timers. Now the watering does itself. Our yard has never looked this good. Of course, the weeds love regular watering, too. Sigh.
BECKY - I made one tee-shirt quilt several years ago for my SIL. He still loves his special 'blanky'! I bet yours is going to be a goody, too!
VELDA - too hot for me! Especially coming from chilly weather. I think the sudden change in temps is worse than gradual increase - or decrease!
We have leftovers from last night. so that may be our supper tonite. Unless I find "somebody's husband" eating them for lunch. In which case, HE can come up with a supper menu! lol!
What about you?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, May 3rd
Good morning from warm, sunny, SW. Pa....BUT, I have a feeling, there will be some rain moving in later this afternoon...But, I am so enjoying the sunshine...This week has been purrrfect!
Mary, My heavens, you do lead an exciting life, always on the go....Where is the next camping trip? I need to know how to prepare myself, lol....
Not a lot happening in this neighborhood but it seems I've been away from the house a lot...Did have doctor's appointments Mon and then again on Tuesday, had a nice day and lunch with my sister on Tuesday and yesterday, on my way home, passed a neighbor sitting on her porch and stopped and talked for almost 2 hours...Her DH was a friend of Jim's and is going through pretty much what Jim did along with having Parkinson's...It was good for her to talk and also good for me to hear.....Today, Baby Girl is going for her checkup, get an allergy shot and have her "nails" done...AND this afternoon, I am getting a hair cut if I do nothing else...It's long over due...Hopefully, tomorrow, I can stay home....
Not going to be able to chat with everyone, need to get someone in her carrier (which might take awhile)...I've been putting treats and cat nip inside the carrier just to try to lure her in, lol.....Her vet, Dr. Steve, is a super guy and she loves the attention but it's just getting her there.....
As for dinner, haven't a clue...But for sure, I won't starve....
You all have a great day........
Happy eating................

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, May 3rd
Good morning! We had rain last night—not sure how much. I fell asleep to the sound of raindrops hitting the roof and the rumble of thunder. It’s like a lullaby to me. Poor Tinker Bell was under the bed. She doesn’t like ANY thunder… not a bit!!! We may still get a few storms today.
Everything is finished and wrapped for the shower on Sunday. I still need to write out a recipe or two. She is very picky and likes only gluten free. I’ll have to come up with something. It definitely won’t be my biscuits!
Vel--welcome back! Are you settled in now? Bet your church group is happy to have you back! Are they still doing the quilts?
Mary—congrats on the Orca finish!!! I can’t believe how fast you complete quilts!!! Great finds at JoAnn’s. I never find much there, but then I only go once in 5 years. I think there is a double standard for men with women and relation. My late DH threw a fit because I wanted to take drafting classes and be a draftsperson. “Women didn’t do that! Draftsmen are lowest on totem pole of pay scale (actually, they still made more than secretaries)… etc…” Well, I did take Intro to Drafting and scored highest in all 3 intro classes. It was to prove to myself that I could. When I was in high school, they wouldn’t let me take it because “only boys” took it and girls took sewing. I bombed out in sewing and always wanted to take drafting… finally I did. That’s not the end of the story. I didn’t take any more classes, but DH got a young lady draftsperson at his work. All I ever heard was how wonderful, talented, great, (fill in) she was!!! Boy, that left a bad taste in my mouth!!! I said all that to say that’s why your dad let your BFF run her chainsaws and praise her! Grrrr! Men!!!
Of course, there are a few things I don’t do… just because I don’t want them to become MY job! I have never gotten on the new zero-turn mower. DH keeps telling me if I ever got on it, I’d want to run it all the time… Well, I prefer to run my sewing machine and not take on another full time job around here! LOL!!! I help him mow at the rentals, but I stick with the push mower so I don’t have to take over the rider full time. I like the push mower exercise at the rentals. Speaking of… it’s that time of the year again. UGH!
I think I’ll make Mom another place mat using my scraps from the modern swap. I’m really liking it. Or, I may just make a few more blocks to use in my quilt. I have so many “want to do” projects… BLOCK magazine came yesterday, and there are so many neat quilts in it!
Dinner here… Not too much. I’ve gained 3 pounds! I can’t figure out how they happened as I count my calories and enter them into my program religiously. I made DH some more egg salad. He really likes it. We also have asparagus spears… a few from our yard, and some I purchased. I also fixed fish for DH. It’s gar, and I don’t like it. So… salad and/or soup for me, choices for him.
Mary—I’d serve the leftovers for lunch and go out tonight!
Bon appétit!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, May 3rd
Good morning
We were almost 40 this morning, a little too cool to be outside yet....but hopefully soon, I have more transplanting to do.
Mary, we have all our grass on a sprinkler system on timers that run late at night so I don't have to worry about the dogs getting soaked
I just water my flowers, trees and bushes....it's therapeutic for me and I bet it's good for my BP
Dad got another chemo shot yesterday, he was worn out last night at supper.
I'm not sure what supper is yet but lunch is leftover spaghetti
the boys will be happy.
Tina

Hello everyone, another hot one here 85 again.
Oh it felt good to get Home from Town.We have the Summer people already here so it takes longer for everything. But I got all my errands done & groceries bought.
Maryz I made 6 Dolls & 2 bears. Will do more bears. Also told them if they need more I will make them.I used to make back packs for our Iwana group at Church for years. They were denim.I wore out my machine making them. She would call me & say we need 3 dozen or 6 dozen.I would whip them out.DD used to laugh & say she knew why she called me bec I always did it in a couple days.
I do my best work in the Mornings.Sure that quilt will be another winner.
Chickie These weddings always need your expertise.DGS still hasnt brought the last 3 pr of pants for buttons.UGH.I think we women just have a hard time with the scales.
Jana Perhaps Ethan wasnt thrilled due to seeing his Mothers Farm at work.
Tina It is also therapeutic for me to be outside & I love flowers & plants. Our AC is already running.too.
Irish Glad the Dr appts went ok & glad you had a good visit with neighbor.
When I tried to catch my Daushand when I went to work she would go under the bed in the very middle. No fun.
Must get going on my mumbo dance. And I can whip up more bears too.
Its sweet n sour chicken over bed of rice.roasted asparagus. Becca

Good afternoon!
Not much out of Ethan about the sheep shearing. Guess all the time spent in pre-school at Sarah's farm made this one same old same old. He did say the sheep looked wrinkly after having it's hair cut off.
Ethan was a big help to Grandpa yesterday. Climbing under the deck and hauling out the junk. Which we are still trying to figure out how it got there. Ethan got his tractor rides and most of them were in the empty trailer that was attached. He has gotten so big that he doesn't fit in Grandpa's lap to ride anymore. When we got home from school, he went and found Grandpa and asked to help. Even to the point of wanting to learn how to fill up the tires on the trailer with air frim the compressor.
Last class for this senester is tonight. Next class starts in September. The car has already made it's run and got a pizza to cook for dinner after class.
Enjoy!

Honeydear is off with the boys, this evening. So I am feeding the dogs and running over to Mom and Dad's. Supper is whatever they are having. It has been rainy on and off, and in the 60's here by lake Erie. Up in Jamestown, it was upper 70's, earlier. I do most of my sewing at Mom's house, lately. She loves it. I keep my featherweight there. We have a sewing room set up in the diningroom. We had to move everything for my brother's birthday dinner. Now, I can't find my rotary cutter. Mom says, "Don't worry. It's here somewhere." I plan to work on the quilting for Bob's dog, tonight. Just echo. I think it will look good on the black background.

Good late afternoon ladies.
I am really running behind today! Have to stop to pick up a few things at the store, so am just getting a couple rotisserie chickens and a couple salads.....No telling who is coming or when. Ha...it is the clinic for color guard this week. Brytt is helping out, and also talked her brother into trying out...He is exhausted at night! He is our couch potato, so he doesn't exert a lot of energy, but he also doesn't want to do marching band next fall, since his instrument is the tuba.....Ha....
Well, you all have a great night....Becky
