SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, April 29th
Good morning!
We have wet but no rain. Birds are happy! I am not. Riley woke me about 4:20, saying she thought it was time for her breakfast. 23 years ago we had Tango who was the very best cat ever in the history of cats. A tuxedo, of course. And Tango had to have medicine twice a day. I would crush the pills and mix them in a spoon of canned food. Thus was born the "breakfast and supper" tradition. If Tango got a treat, our other cats have to have some, too. Over the years, as our cats have overlapped, we haven't been able to stop the tradition. You would think they wouldn't go into such a panic if their teaspoon of wet food (we're pate` people, not shreds. Never shreds.) is late by 1/2 hour as they do have the motherload of dry food available at all times. CATS! Bill keeps asking me why it is we have to have cats. It was in our wedding vows that we would always have cats, and we can't break vows. Right?
Yesterday I got the kitchen cleaned and swept on a break from my sewing room. Today will be more sewing (most of yesterday was cutting out the rest of "Orca") and I've promised myself I shouldn't sew all day. I feel too guilty. So today my plan is to clean another room. I've chosen my 3x5 foot entryway. ;o} Bill says he plans to mow, rain or shine, while Vicki's out to brunch with her kids. If they go. They didn't go last week after the big kerfluffle with the stick and the tractor.
PAM - that's funny that you were chasing dogs, too! And last night on Live PD, several units were chasing a young black lab who was lost. As the cop drove down the street, chasing the dog, who was running down the center of the street, he was quipping for the camera: "Hey, you! Pull over!", and "We've got a runner!" lol! They never caught him, but chased him all the way back home where they found owners and several search parties were also out looking for him. Hey! That wasn't your BIL's dog, was he? Dog's name was "Soot". haha! By the way, my youngest DD, Autumn, is 41 and she says her hairdresser told her she is about 70% grey now (she colors a medium reddish brown). I have red hair and am just now starting to get some grey at 67. I don't mind it - as long as it stays 'just a little bit'.
BECCA - Albert is doing fairly well. He is adjusting to the urostomy, though he confesses he doesn't like the bag. He's more frustrated with it taking so long to get his strength back. But it was a BIG surgery and he's almost 82, so it will take a while. He wants to be outside, falling a few dead trees on his property and cutting them up for firewood. I haven't had much of an update on his son, Jeff, lately, though last I heard, he, too, had a long recovery ahead of him and they both have to be patient together. Not too hard, the together part, as their properties adjoin. But Jeff is working nearly full-time again, though retirement is looking more desirable to him. He's 53 and has a few more years to go. Thanks for asking. I would think the deer would leave your junipers alone. They are toxic. To humans, too. Be careful when you are working with them.
IRISH - I believe rainbows are messages from heaven. A purple one must be a very special message for sure! Did you get to sit and read yesterday? My mom taught me this: if you want to spend the day reading (or sewing!), but feel guilty, take a few minutes to move furniture out of place, spray a bit of cleaner in the air and drape a dirty dust rag over the can of furniture polish. It looks like you've been working hard all day and everyone will tell you to go sit down and rest and read (or sew!) while they finish up! and yes, I've done it. No one finishes up for me, but it does give the impression I've worked all day! lol! I really miss my mom! She was fun!
JANA - those trees sound beautiful! Can't wait to hear what you are getting. Red hawthorne perhaps? White hawthorne? Magnolia? That's all the red/white flowered trees I know. As for your hair, you have beautiful hair. You could grow it long and then donate it to Locks of Love? Then you'd have shoulder-length again. Grow/cut/repeat. How is Sunflowers coming along? Did you finish your JN quilt? Going to do any more of them?
Tonite's supper is going to be baked chicken unless Bill wants to grill it. With saute'd spinach. And probably rice cooked in chicken broth. In the rice cooker.
Have you got a plan yet? And know that I consider Cheerios and PB&J's a solid supper plan. ;o)

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, April 29th
Good morning!
Mary - thank you! JN is in her box, waiting for me to get some courage for the last step of assembly. One more JN is cooking - it may simmer for a very long time! I too had Live PD on - saw that dog giving the officer fits. That officer had a sense of humor!
Dinner - we did take out Mexican - disappointing, but the is leftovers from it for dinner tonight. Just can't seem to find a good Mexican or Chinese here in the valley. We have tried many, but no luck. Guess I just have to make it myself.
Still sewing on the Sunflower blocks. Only a couple more then onto the next step. When I downloaded the pattern from the company, the PDF didn't load correctly. So called my IT vuy over and he fixed it - the company sent it right, I goofed up. So now I have a good copy. This cfompany gives you unlimited downloads of the patterns you purchase forever. I needed that!
Church is in a few minutes and need to find my face, don't want to scare anyone!
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, April 29th
Good afternoon from a chilly, chilly, SW. Pa...You'd think winter was back minus the snow....BUT, heard on good authority, if those people on TV know what they're talking about, spring returns tomorrow with a touch of summer on Tuesday and Wed...(Hard to tell what might happen after that).....
Mary, It sounds like Tango paved the way for the rest of the fur babies...Not sure what happened in this house, just know, everyone of them is spoiled and I guess I need to be thankful they allow me to live here....I really do have to laugh at BabyGirl, she won't let me out of her sight since I came back...Always on my lap, giving me kisses, sits on the edge of the tub when I'm taking a bath and of course has to sit on my lap while on the potty..And she also feels, Kelly isn't allowed to share....Yum, baked chicken sounds good.....
Jana, Just reading what Mary wrote about your hair, is it really long? I'll bet it is gorgeous....My Mom had long hair and would have it "fixed" each week...The gal would roll clusters of curls on the back of her head and it was gorgeous...Mom was a nurse at our local hospital and everyone knew her by her hair...Had my hair cut short when Kathy was a baby and it's been quite short ever since...Really anxious to see the Sunflower quilt...I had my kitchen done in sunflowers at one time....
Becca, I hope it's warmer down there but isn't this ridiculous???? I want so bad to be able to open the windows and leave them open and also be able to stay outside without shivering.....One of these days....Hope you have a super day.....
Today is turning out to be a lazy day, big time....In fact, just got dressed just because Terry said he might stop down...But, we do have a Penguin game coming on at 3:00 and all of Western Pa. will stop what they're doing to watch the game.....I've been crocheting Cari a baby afghan while I watch the games and depending on the game, I've had to tear out a few rows...Hoping today is an easy win and no tear outs......
Dinner, hard to tell...I do have good fixings for a salad and I also have cinnamon rolls left over for afters....Guess I'm all set!
I'm going to run the vacuum, clean up the cat dishes in the sink and park in front of the TV.....
You all have a great day............
Happy eating.........
GO PENS!
