Putting God above all Else
1 Kings 11:1-13
With all God had given him, how could someone as wise as Solomon get so far off of the narrow path of obedience and so far away from the Lord's ways? Could it be that his wisdom turned out to be a point of pride? Did he think that he was the one responsible for all his wealth and blessings, and not God?
For half of his 40-year reign, jkSolomon seems to have exercised his wisdom in ways that pleased God. But little mention is made of his prayer life during these years. He presented sacrifices at the temple three times a year, but there is no record of his conversations with God during those visits. perhaps the temple visits became merely a formality.
Sometimes I think that is how church attendance has become for so many--a formality. I know it says for where there are 2 or more God is there and many take this as they can worship on a boat on a lake, in a tent camping, sitting by a campfire or even on the couch at home. Yet, the Bible also tells us that we must commune with fellow worshipers Hebrews 10:24-25, Ephesians 4:11-13 and Colossians 3:16 are some good references.
Make sure your worship is not just a robotic worldly routine. Make it a Godly routine of true devotion to HIM.
This Sunday is Friendship Sunday at our church and we are to invite our friends to church. You all are my friends and I invite each of you to attend your church this Sunday. Oh, and if you're in my neck of the woods you are always welcome at mine:) God bless.
Hugs and prayers
