SUPPER CLUB - Fri, April 13th
Good morning!!
We are 42* and wet here. In other words, our usual spring weather for Western WA. It's OK. It's why they call us the Evergreen State.
TINA - Happy Anniversary today! Do you have any big plans to celebrate? It's also Chriss & Jerry's anniversary. AND it's the 6th anniversary of my friend, Betsy's, double lung transplant. I celebrate that with her. She is doing so well!
LINDA - that he-shed went up fast once they got started! Your flowers are so pretty, too. Could you lay some rabbit wire on top of the dirt (or just under a thin layer of dirt, where the cat, um, visits you?
BECCA - I think I'd be railing at the power company supervisors about the damage their crews did! Greasy wheels eventually get attention. You are much more patient than I!
CHICKIE - glad to hear that Doyal did so well and should be going home today.
PAM - oh, we don't sleep on the ground anymore! I do miss real camping but now we go equipped with a full kitchen, roomy bath/shower, large TV, and queen sized bed. We 'live' outside as much as weather permits - cooking, eating, lounging, campfire. We go inside in the rain and to sleep. We have an Arctic Fox fifth-wheel which is insulated for all-season camping so we do some winter camping, too. Not nearly so crowded!
BECKY - Your niece is very diplomatic! Before I met Bill, I went out with a guy for a short while whose mother was a hoarder of the first degree. Her large country kitchen was jammed and there was a jar of mayo sitting on the counter with 3" hair growing in it. I tried to throw the jar out while doing dishes and she came unglued and fished it out of the garbage and put it back. So when I visited I played "good guest" (I thought!) and took food to contribute. I wanted nothing from her kitchen! And she took great offense! Eight months later that hairy jar was still on the counter! (not saying your MIL is a hoarder! Just sharing my kitchen story!)
JANA - I hope Lila is born today! Our friend, Betsy, who had the lung transplant had her surgery on Fri, 13th, and she and her hubby were married on Fri, 13th (your birthday, in fact!). It's their lucky day! also, I have some sunflowers with red background. I wonder if it's the same print . .
Just to let you all know in case you didn't stop by Sew-In, Chriss's gramma died last night. She said she simply stopped breathing.
Today I'm going to make some oatmeal craisin cookies, pack most of our fridge food (non perishables are already in the trailer), do laundry, and change sheets on the house bed. I saw some great ideas for use of scraps so that's what I'm taking as a sewing project - my scraps. At least some of them . . . so I'll be packing those up, as well.
I think tonite will be rice with chicken alfredo sauce. More freezer cleanout from when my sis was here.
Have you got any ideas for supper yet?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fri, April 13th
Good morning from what might be a super summery like day, going to high 70s, maybe even hit 80 but then the bottom will fall out...BUT, we certainly will enjoy this while we have it and of course Jim gets the credit for the sun.....
Mary, Thanks for all the news this morning...I do try to check and read the posts on the Sew-In but haven't yet today....I feel so bad for Chriss but knowing Grandma went peacefully should help with the heartache...
I think I might have been able to change Jim's mind about camping if we had had a camper like your's...I had always said, we could get a motor home and be able to take all the fur kids but then I doubt if we could have afforded the gas to take it out of the driveway....But, I'll just "travel" along with you and enjoy through your eyes....
Friday the 13th is and was a busy day for a lot of us...Our Kevin was born on the 13th (a few years ago)...Would be a great day for Lila to make her appearance....
Chickie, I can't believe Doyal is ready to come home...I think they'd have to have me sedated for at least a week...Not saying I'm a wimp but....Sending many prayers and good wishes for a super quick recovery.....
Becca, You really do have the patience of a saint..I wish I had more, lol....I'd be like Mary and they would be hearing from me, lots....Hope you're having warm, sunny weather and able to be out playing in the dirt......
Jana, Maybe we could all get together and do a group cheer, rooting on our new baby...." Let's go Lila", "You can do it".....But, you know, she might not like snow and is waiting for nicer weather.....
Sending prayers for a quick, easy labor and delivery.....
Today was to be lunch out with my sister and 2 other friends but my sister is having a "feel bad" day...She's having flue like symptoms but it could also be she's just run down from all the stress with her DH...So, we've postponed the lunch (washed my hair for no reason, lol)and now I can maybe get to some of those things on my "to do" list, which is now covered with dust, lol....
I had my doctor's appointment yesterday and surprisingly, I passed, Bp 110/70 and all those chips didn't add any weight....So, with that good news, I went shopping and bought a new Tablet, flowers for Jim's grave and pink yarn...Also made reservations to stay at a hotel near the airport next Monday night because I have an early flight on Tuesday and we're to get snow the night before....My new card is getting a work out!
As for my dinner, we'll have to think on that....I might run out to get a hair cut and just maybe the car will decide.....
You all have a great day..........
Happy eating..............

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fri, April 13th
Good morning!
Look out those east of me - we got about 8 to 10 inches of snow last night. Wind too. Still snowing now.
Dinner - soup - nice hot bowl of some soup!
Not much here - hiccup with the hospital setting up the time frame to coax Lila tomorrow, but it is now straightened out. So if she doesn't make it yoday, tomorrow for sure!
Happy Anniversary Tina!
Irish - enjoy the new tablet - I love mine and even gave one to Michael and drug him in kicking and screaming that it was a good thing!
Becca - we have had some sad things too on a Friday the 13th, but more good. Sorry for your loss.
Mary - happy to read about the 50th party- he made it! Michael's mom just missed their 50th by a few weeks. I no longer camp on the ground, I use a Hilton or a Marriott as my RV choice.
Our tractor is being picked up by the dealer for prescribed maintanance work in a little while. Since the lawns are covered in snow it is a good time to get it done.
Sewing in the Batt Cave for me,
Enjoy,
Jana

Hi all. Thank goodness it is Friday, 13th and all!
Mary, glad to hear your BIL made it to the anniversary. Hoping for more.....Enjoy your camping trip.
Funny story on Grandma. My DD's BIL comes to Thanksgiving at our house, and he was very intrigued a few years back, that one of the nieces and Shannon were contemplating how much of Grandma's food to get rid of. He told them they were very rude, and they calmly explained to him that they had to toss the right amount, so that her feelings were not hurt that no one would eat it, but just enough that she wouldn't make that again. He started to argue with them, and Brenda asked him if he tried it, and he said no. She advised him against it, and of course, he had to see for himself....Now he appears to be in the plotting each year.....I would be scared to see what some of the stuff looks like in her house too Mary.....We did move her, and she has tons of canned goods. We had to through some away, but she said she did understand why....and I know that I would like to give her freezer a thorough cleaning.....much of what she makes is freezer burnt....
Irish, you need to enjoy your trip too, and I wouldn't go close to your sis until you come back....you don't want to get sick.....
Becca, I am sure you are a wonderful cook.....My MIL was, until she got sick several years ago, with her heart. She was in the hospital for a few months, and it seems that she just isn't the same now. Although, I did tell JR that her memory appears to be selective.....
Well, it has been a very busy and trying week for us, so I am stopping to get something for dinner, yet to be named.....I don't think my car has the same trick as Dorothy's so we will probably have to pick something to turn into.....
You all have a great weekend....Becky

Well I am glad it's the weekend. The last three days were spent auditting one of the houses at our agency. I was checking over the medical follow-through, and inspecting the med room, and doing chart review.
I told DH that he is taking me out to dinner. He whined that he had already had his shower and didn't want to go out, but he did agree so long as I drive. We are checking out a homestyle restaurant nearby.
Poor hubby, I told him he should wait to shower on Friday night. He is a little persnickety about clenliness.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fri, April 13th
Good late afternoon! We are HOME!!! Believe me, “There is NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!!” I know you all have hospital stories, so I won’t bore you. They really were wonderful and VERY attentive—every 15 minutes the whole time we were there! He wanted for nothing—except some sleep time. He’s getting some now! The only problem I had was the “recliner” was just a chair with a foot rest—no recline. I had been up since 4:30 yesterday, so last night I when I made sure DH was going to be fine, I went to my DD’s and grabbed some shut-eye. I was back early at the hospital. Everything went super well, and our nurse today had had the same procedure 5 years ago with the same doctor and gave us lots of pointers. Her DD is having the same thing done with the same doctor as well.
Irish—I enjoy my tablet. I download cheap books to read—not like holding a real book, but I enjoy the convenience (until I run down the battery!). Yes, do not get exposed to anything to interfere with your trip! Your numbers are better than mine by a lot!
We are windy, windy, windy. A storm blew through this morning, but there was little evidence of rain. I have tornado watch on my phone—first of the season. The hooligans were so happy to see us when we returned! To keep them from jumping on DH’s lap, I took them walking and hunting for mushrooms. I’m blown to bits, hooligans are happy, and there are no mushrooms that I could find.
Becca—Cole slaw sounds delicious! What a bargain on the fruits!!!
Jana—I’m not sure I’m ready to get DH a tablet. He’s just now getting hooked on his smart phone. He finally got rid of the flip phone (which he only got after our fire).
Becky—that is funny about the food and “how much” to jettison. Poor thing! I think we forget how to cook as time passes. If we don’t keep cooking in big batches we forget how to season. I know I sure have some colossal failures.
Mary—Yikes on the mayo!!! That’s probably the worst case of kitchen hording I’ve heard of. A lot of it is in people who grew up in the depression and had nothing. They are afraid to get rid of anything. My grandma was one of the original recyclers—sandwiches wrapped in cereal waxed paper, re-used bread bags until they were threads, cereal boxes turned into templates for quilting and used as recipe cards… we just didn’t have “real” waxed paper, plastic bags, etc. Grandma made her own bread most of the time, so the occasional bread bag got a thorough workout. Since she had a cooking background (café, ammunition plant kitchen, high-school/junior college lunch lady), she followed impeccable food safety practices.
Tina—happy anniversary!!!
I know I’m forgetting something/someone, but I’m really tired yet today. Thank you everyone for your prayers and good wishes. They have worked!!!
Dinner—the same… salad for me, broth for DH.
Bon appétit!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fri, April 13th
I know I am late. I have been so busy! We are camping at our son's. Going to be here longer than first planned. Our campground isn't ready to have people bringing in campers. Wetter than normal Spring. Colder than normal Spring. Opened up campground April 1, then freeze hit and broke water lines. Just a mess. Tonight we are getting LiL' Caesar's pizza. Tommorow more painting to help our son with projects.
Last week, our son and kids were off for Spring Break. This week while they are away, I have been working on curtains, and cooking meals, etc.
Got a new laptop and grandson is computer geek, so he helped me get set up. Busy busy, busy.

We had fish fry. We shared it, and still brought home some. DH had onion rings, too, and I had a peanutbutter milkshake. Even though it isn''''t lent, anymore, you can still get Friday fish fry all over!
