SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, April 12th
Good morning!
How is your world this morning? We have no rain so that's a good start for the day. The fridge/freezer in the trailer should be up to speed by now so I will start packing food for camping. Most everything else is packed already. Not much to take. Five tee-shirts, five undies, extra jeans, and a sewing project yet to be named. There are always books, videos, and quilting magazines in the trailer, so I guess I'm almost ready! Even though we don't leave for 3 more sleeps.
PAM - you sound like a fast learner! Welcome aboard!! We'll work on the L---- issue next week.
BECKY - from the sounds of things, you dodged a culinary bullet there! lol!! My MIL was a really good cook but sometimes, in her later years, she occasionally tippled a bit too much while in the kitchen. OK, a LOT too much. We had some interesting meals! And yes, I gave Pam a pass yesterday. She's new. But now she KNOWS. Right, Pam??
JANA - That Ethan is a jewel!! Wish all kids were more like him! That pattern is really pretty. I can see it in other flowers, too, but I think the sunflowers suit best. I have several sunflower prints. If you run short maybe I can help.
CHICKIE - today is Doyal's big day! How long will he stay in the hospital? Just one night? Men always seem to lose weight so much easier and faster than women. It's just not fair that we have to have the labor pains, menopause, and they get to lose weight easier! This seems certain proof that God is a man!!
BECCA - The gal I walk with every morning lives on a gravel road across the county road from me. She has the same problem. Her hubby owns a landscaping business so he fixes potholes up as far as their house. They have neighborhood meetings from time to time to discuss the road though nobody but her Joe ever does anything about it.
IRISH - I can't wait for your trip! I'm sorry it's only going to be for one week, but maybe next time. Hard to leave the purr-babies. Mine is snuggled up to me every morning as I type, gently pawing at my hand to pet her. I'm fortunate - all the babies with with us when we travel!
Yesterday I was perusing through the library's options for audio books to download onto my i-pad. I listen to them while I sew, cook, clean, garden, etc. And I found a mystery series by Ellery Adams. The series is the Supper Club Mystery Series! Fun! I downloaded a couple of them to see what they are like.
Now it's 'supper time'. I think it's going to be BBQ pork sandwiches. I have the pork left over, in the freezer, and the buns are fresh now, so that's the plan! Along with a salad and/or saute'd spinach.
Is the plan coming together yet at your hosue?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, April 12th
Good morning!
It is not good here - it is snowing hard! Even sticking to the ground. Big fluffy flakes, which is odd for this time of year.
I pick up Ethan today and after we finish lunch, I think I will make cookies with him. He loves to help in the kitchen. He loves chocolate, so may make those with peanut butter chips.
Class is tonight. Only a couple more to go. So, dinner will be something the car knows where to drive. Last week, we went ahead of class and grabbed a Papa Murphy's pizza - may do that again.
No Lila yet. But do to my superstitions, she will get here tomorrow, on Friday the 13th. You see, I was born on a Friday the 13th, so she will want to be a little bit like me. She is being named after the other side of the family, so this is her little part of my side. ROFLOL! I know, I am silly!
Mary - thanks for the offer. I love sunflowers. I have made a wreath with them for my front door and did a quilt using the dresden plate pattern with all yellows and a brown center. The back of that quilt is a floral - red with sunflowers all over. Still waiting to be quilted. Enjoy the beach!
Pam - I too sneak in "mac & cheese" - it is a staple in this house. Especially the orange one from the ocean.
Enjoy!
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, April 12th
Good afternoon ladies,
Sounds like good reasoning to me on baby Lila, Jana. And you can keep the snow there! I think we are supposed to get rain starting tomorrow, but my sisters in Nebraska are expecting anywhere from 3 - 12 inches. So you all don't feel you need to share.
My MIL used to be a wonderful cook Mary. Our niece that bought her restaurant still uses many of her home cooking recipes there. So sad, because she sees nothing wrong with it....so, yes, we were most pleased when they laid that on us....Usually, when she plans any kind of gathering anymore, one of us will take over, and she seems pleased to give it up. A few months ago, Sara told her that if she wanted to have it, she would bring pork chops, and that every one loved her potatoes, so why didn't Grandma just make those? And it worked.....
Tonight, I think we are having chicken casserole of some sort. I have a lot of chicken that is in the freezer, so that will be that...
Hope you all have something much better than that!
Take care....Becky

Afternoon!
It is a cool, blustery day here. Rained a little (very little) last night. Can't believe it was 86 two days ago and we thought Spring was finally here.
Thought we were free from the cat but when I went to start trimming a hedge against the house, I found a week's work of you know what!!! that dang cat has to really look hard for a bare spot in the back yard now, but by golly he found one. At least no termites or ants are evident.
Here are pics of the finished workshop, and some of my flowers. Now DH and I will paint it to match the house. The little mockingbirds are in that bush right by the window, but now there are only 2 of them. 3rd one must have been too runty to survive. This area of the backyard was the dog run/RV pad. Dog passed on and we upgraded to a bigger RV that has to have its own storage elsewhere.
This Sat is our guild auction where we raid our stashes and supplies and bring stuff to auction off and donate the proceeds to the guild. I've never participated in one so it will be interesting to see what happens. My sister, who makes beautiful fabric coiled baskets and sells them, gave me all her "rejects"(in her mind), about 25, and I will discount and sell them and donate only 50% to the guild. The rest will go back to her, as this is her only income besides disability. She is really talented.
DH is making chicken enchiladas for tonight, yum, yum. You all have a wonderful weekend with family and friends. Prayers for all those in need.

Mary, my husband and I used to camp, but I can't do the hard ground, anymore. Our kind of camping is cabins or motels.
Linda, that looks awesome, and I love all your plants out. The more I look at my property, the more ice damage I see. We have a lot of trimming to do.
Becca, we are lagging behind you in the weather department. I think it was up to 40, today. Can't wait for Spring!
Becky, chicken casserole sounds awesome, but I think we will have tomato soup. And something with it.
Jana, I had two neighbors growing up who were both born on Saturday the 14ths. Guess they weren't superstitious. I like the idea that Lila wants to be like you.
