SUPPER CLUB - Monday, April 9
Good morning!
No rain! Chirping birds! It's going to be a great day! One single dry day, temps near 70*, before the rain comes back tomorrow. I'm going to enjoy it!
So, our soup last night was going to be frozen leftover rice with canned chicken and whatever I could salvage from the celery that was going south. Then Bill was talking to our friends who want us to go camping with them after our RV Rally in June. They wanted to get together to plan the trip. The upshot was a Costco run for real chicken and new celery and broth and then a stop at regular grocery for noodles (I tossed the rice back in the freezer). I spent two hours in the kitchen making soup, washing greens, putting a salad together, setting table, sweeping, etc. In between I did the laundry and cleaned the bathroom. I was all ready by 3:00 so had 3 hours to spend playing in my sewing room. Dinner turned out tasty and the trip got planned (for the most part). I thought we were going camping in the woods for 3 days. Turns out we're taking a real trip through Oregon, camping our way along. We'll see Crater Lake, among other things, and might even make it to the Oregon Coast. It should be a fun trip. Right?
Today, some sewing, I think. Plus a chiropractor appointment at 10:00 and blood donations at 3:00. And we have to swap out a the little window that bill put in the trailer last month. He did a beautiful job but turns out the window was made crooked and wouldn't open correctly so the window company sent us a new one. It's a two-person job that needs to be done in dry, not too cold weather. And there you have my day.
IRISH - what are your FL dates? I need to know when to start missing you. I'll be happy to send you a few of my dust rags, but not sure I'll be making the trip with them. Busy, you know . . .
PAM - I saw your lotto blocks. Beautiful!!
BECCA - congratulations on your DGSIL's achievement! But I'm sorry two such important events in your family are happening on the same day.
JANA - loved your succinct post! lol! Some days, the computers just won't behave! Any baby news?
TINA - I love chicken alfredo - just so you know. . . Hope you get your sew-jo back soon. Sounds like it's going to be pretty windy so perhaps that will force you back into the house and sewing room. Did you finish Jaz's Christmas quilt?
BECKY - how did your weekend go? How is JR feeling now?
CHICKIE - I'm guessing meals aren't too exciting at your house this week.
LINDA - how long do you think it will be before your DH can move into his man cave?
We have enough chicken soup left over for supper tonite. Though that may be lunch with poached eggs for supper. I want to eat well and drink a lot of extra water before we give blood this afternoon. Last time I got sick and faint - reactions I don't normally experience.
What's the plan at your house tonite?

God morning!
Mary - we took Stu and Aaron, when they were little on that trip to Crater Lake. There was still snow on parts of the ground there in July. We have some beautiful pictures of the lake. Even found a LQS!
Today is a quiet day. A few uglies. No baby yet. If no appearance before Saturday, she will make her appearance Saturday! Doctor's orders! LOL
Dinner, well that corned beef never made it yesterday, so today it will.
Enjoy!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, April 9
Good morning! We are warming this week, then the weekend… not so good. I’ll be sure to enjoy the nice days! Today and tomorrow will be long walks for Choc and Ava, then shorter walks for Ava the rest of the week. DH’s surgery is set for Thursday—so far so good. My DD had her scans, but we haven’t heard any results.
Had a nice visit with Mom on Saturday. I invited my sisters to have lunch with us and picked up lunch for all. My sister is doing super with her hip replacement and wonders why she didn’t do it earlier. She gets around so much better with far less pain now.
I’ve been working slowly on DD’s quilt. The hexagons in center were only 33x44”, so I am putting on a couple of borders. It’s still going to be pretty small, but I know she will be happy. It has CATS on it!
Tina—Chickens! I do miss mine! Bet the children are loving them!!!
Jana--isn't that something with Lila! Mary said she could go long after all the pre-due date excitement. Looks like that's the case. Mary knows these things!
Linda—your home is lovely! So much fun to see all the different climates and styles of homes! I love your bloomin’ bushes!
Jana—so nice to have kids/grandkids who eat anything! My great niece wouldn’t eat bread crusts last week.
Irish—I was always catching myself talking to my late DH and wanting to get home to show/tell him something. It’s totally normal, and I think it helps the transitioning you are going through. Is it McConnell AFB? It’s out by Wichita—about 120 miles from here. Stephan will be getting used to wind, although I’m sure Sheppard had wind as well. My sister was at Sheppard in the 60s.
Mary—your bargello quilt is beautiful!!! I have to go to the photos section. I know they really aren’t as difficult as they look, but slight dyslexia can make them a nightmare! I’m easily confused and transpose directions. Still…. I do want to try one! I found it’s easier to give up my blood when I’ve had a couple of bottles of water. Hope you don’t have a reaction this time.
Pam---welcome! Are you making quilts for someone special?
Becca—so glad you had a nice visit with DS and his lady friend. Our DS is seeing someone now, too. Time will tell.
I’ve practiced my yoga this morning and done a bit of housework. Still much more needs to be done. Guess I should get busy. I’d rather be sewing! I hope to finish the borders on DD’s quilt then piece a backing with some of my Tabby Road prints. I don’t want to make the quilt so large it won’t be easy to hassle under my presser foot. It’s definitely colorful!!!
You’re right… meals aren’t the greatest here. I made myself a quinoa quesadilla last night. Remember "real men don't eat quiche"? Well, here "real men turn their nose up at quinoa" (although I have snuck it in on him numerous times--what he doesn't know might be healthful), so it's safe for me to eat in front of him. DH gets his jello and broth, and I have mainly soup and salads. The quesadilla was a nice change. I made DH some egg drop soup again. It’s so good and almost clear. It’s at least low fat/carb, so I figure it can’t hurt too much.
Bon appétit!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, April 9
Good almost afternoon here.
We have snow, it was so beautiful this morning, although, it is the first part of April. While it was coming down last night, it was in ribbon like patterns. Don't really think I have ever seen it do that. The kids thought it was way cool. Not so much that they had to go to school today, but oh well...Ha....
Mary, your bargello quilt is simply beautiful....I am like Miriam, a tiny bit dyslexic....I even sewed a strip to the wrong side on Saturday. I was upset with myself!
Rose, your house looks beautiful. Love the flowers.
Miriam, you are a good daughter. I bet you all enjoyed lunch together. Hope your DD hears something soon, and the Doyal does well with his surgery.
Jana, still no baby? Well, she thinks she is supposed to stay put now!
We had a busy weekend. No house cleaning in there, and boy, you can tell! I will need to do some this week. We had an aunt and uncle in from Florida, so there were a few trips to town. Always something, I guess. I think they are leaving on Wednesday, so we will probably go back in on Tuesday evening to visit a touch more....tonight, we have our youngest DGS celebrating being 15. Oh my, where does the time go?
He has requested tacos and white cake, with white icing, although we were informed it could have food color in it and still be white. And White ice cream too....the child is just a little bit on the boring side. Ha....all he asked for was a watch with no hands on it. He says he gets a headache trying to figure it out.....Oh my.....
Hope you all have a great weekend....Becky
P.S. Mary, JR is doing well, but they want to wait on his teeth. First they said his mouth wasn't healing well, probably because of his diabetes, then he had to go back last week and get some more work done on the few left on the bottom. I am not sure when he goes back for the teeth, but he is certainly getting around it!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, April 9
Happy beginning of the week!
The guys are back at it this morning, finishing up on the workshop. The outside matches our house. DH will paint it to match and decide what to put into the inside later. The work guys will put the long work bench inside but DH will do the rest. He is handy too but wanted all the heavy work done for him. The walls inside are some kind of plywood that has an ultra smooth surface so DH is not going to paint them, just leave them natural. The whole thing is 8 x 14.
We just came back from our daily mile around the neighborhood. The weather is getting into the high 70's now but today there is an overcast, so humid but not hot. Everyone's yards are busting with blooms, even the lawns full of dandelions and clover look pretty.
Not much else going on for the week. I got a donation quilt back from the longarmer so I can bind that. And I am almost finished with the red, white and blue lotto blocks for April. Next project is a QOV for a Viet Nam Vet friend who had a major stroke last year. He is doing much better but is wheelchair bound. This will be a lap quilt made from the left overs from my brother's QOV I made last year. I also have another Featherweight to refurbish some time soon. All in all, enough to keep me busy.
Looking forward with you for that new baby, both human and animal, Jana and Chickie. Maryz, hope you enjoy your quiet time, now that family has departed. And Happy Spring to the rest of you. Prayers for all those in need.
DH was ecstatic this morning because he was excused from jury duty today. He has been driving an hour to Fresno for the last week and a half, sitting during jury selection for a sexual abuse case. He did not want to be chosen for this type of case and has not been able to talk about it at all. Now that he was not chosen he can talk about it and get on with his life.
Dinner tonight will be a meat loaf DH cooked yesterday, with actual sweet potatoes (not yams) and green beans and gravy. I am hungry already!

It's nice to see you all, today. Some of us still have snow. Some of us have dandilions and clover. I am in the middle. The daffodils have big flower buds ready to burst open.
We are having take-out. Steak tacos and empanadas from a mexican place by work. DH is ready, so off I go!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, April 9
Well, the tacos didn't go over too well. DH only likes ground meat, a little chicken, and fish. He would just as soon eat vegetarian. I got his tacos ground beef. He started to eat one, but said it was grossing him out, because it was too much meat. Poor honey. He did eat his empanada, but then had to supplement his meal with pistacios, dried fruit, and Easter candy.
My steak tacos were awesome!
I like building things. I bet you are having fun with your workshop, Rose.
Jana, I love corned beef. I had several meals of it around St Patty's day.
Farmchick, I like to play at projects, but often don't finish them. I have an applique of my brother's dog that I started for Christmas several years ago. I want to finish that one in April.
Thank you, Purrfect lady. Making some blocks is my favorite part of quilting.
