SUPPER CLUB - Friday, April 6th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Apr 05, 2018 10:31 pm

Good morning!

Having a spot of insomnia so here I sit at 1:00am in the living room with Scottie, a cup of cocoa, and thou(s). Yesterday was filled with groceries and when we got home I made lots of hamburger patties and some meatloaves - four individual sized loaves and 2 larger ones. The freezer is FULL! I also got some sewing in and not much else. Today's plan: focus on that quilt. I REALLY want to be finished with it. I'm loving doing it, and it's fun watching the pattern emerge, but I'm ready to move on to something else.

Funny thing happened yesterday morning. It was early so my hair was still all mussed and spikey and I was in my jammies. My phone rang. It was Judi! She had butt-dialed me on FACETIME! She was in the same degree of morning "disarray". We had to laugh and decided we'd get outselves together and call again another day - when we were all gussied up and combed out!

CHICKIE - I was thinking of your DD yesterday and wondering how it was going. Will hold good thoughts for her and shoot a few prayers her way. That's a rough Sword to live under, but the good news is that colon ca is nearly 100% curable if caught early enough. I saw low temps headed for you and hoped all your new babies would fare OK.

BECCA - I know you're busy having a good time with your family. I hope you like your son's friend! Nice that he brought her to meet you.

JANA - I'm betting the boys loved the bridge tour! And by my calculations, we're at 39 weeks today. Considered term in the "industry". How's that quilt coming??

PAM - we love perogis. I make them sometimes but haven't for a while now. My DH is Polish, from the U.P of Michigan where they are very popular.

Tonite we're invited to an appetizer/wine party with friends (about 5 couples). One of them is a glass artist. Once or twice a year we all gather at his studio for a little party. It's a beautiful setting with all his art around. The studio is in a heavily wooded rural area and one whole wall is glass so we can look out at the tall trees, salal, and huckleberry. Sometimes, if we're lucky, we can see a deer. Should be a very nice evening. I'm making jalapeno poppers and little apple & cheddar skewers. Bill is in charge of choosing a wine to take. I know there will be plenty of hearty snacks so no cooking. Though I may make a salad to eat before we go. Wish I could take you all with us just so you could see this beautiful place.

What's the story on YOUR supper tonite?

Good morning from another semi dreary, chilly day in SW. Pa...I have decided to quit looking at the weather channel or listening to any weather people, it's gotten to be very depressing, lol..Also decided, we all gotta make our own sunshine in any way possible......

Mary, how are the bumps and bruises coming along? Normally, when I take a tumble, days later I find "other" pretty colors hidden on the body....You really are working away on that quilt..So anxious to see it...That's one on my "bucket list" but probably never to be made, lol...But, I can dream.....

Just kind of stopping in for a minute...It seems my mornings slip away and I've really not accomplished anything...And once again, I'm meeting the gals for lunch...This has become our weekly or semi weekly therapy session...We 4, each have gone through some sad things in the last few months, so it's a good thing and cheaper than going to a professional, lol.....

But, did want tell you all, I do think about each and everyone....You know, I just have to look at one of my quilts, or look through my stack of cards and you all are right there....I'm still in awe, you gals are very special.....

As for my dinner, it will be whatever I have for lunch.....

You all have a great day......

Happy eating..............

Hi ladies,
busy times everywhere, I guess.
Glad to hear we almost have a baby, and Irish is actually eating.
Prayers going out to Miriam's DD. Hope they find the problem, and it can be fixed.
Mary, your dinner party sounds great.
We have had sick ones this week, and your pizza sounded so good earlier this week, and since I don't feel like making it, that will be a stop off on the way home. Have salad in the fridge, so that is our plan. So very glad it is Friday.....have a great weekend...Becky

Good afternoon! We are chilly and blustery… going to get ugly tonight! Mother Nature is mad once again and taking it out on us!

DH had his pre-op appointment this morning. The Hooligans rode with us—always up for a road trip! All is set for next week. DD had her scans this morning and will let me know when she hears something about them.

Mary—too funny about the face time fiasco! Only 30 years ago or so, TV on our phones was an idea of the future, but the future is here!!! I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a perogi, but I do like Chinese “dumplings”/pot stickers…

Becky—I think “stop for” pizza sounds perfect for tonight!

Irish—So happy you are enjoying your quilts! They are full of love and hugs each time to use or look at them. I don’t like our weather forecasts and try not to look, but… So glad you are seeing your friends for lunch! You’re right—dinner with them is cheaper and does more good than professional therapy sessions!

Need to go check on the cows before the temperatures start really dropping. We can have an inch of accumulation!!! For Pete’s sake—this is APRIL!!! I doubt there are any mushrooms, but I might check just to be sure… Meanwhile, I’m still piecing hexagons for DD’s quilt…I’m trying to decide what to do for backing and maybe border(s).

Dinner tonight… same ole, same ole… soup, salad, broth, jello… This will go on for 3 more weeks… Last night I made egg drop soup, and it was soooo good. I’m not sure if he really should have had it or not, but it was a nice change—semi-clear liquid… It’s still a full week to surgery, so I don’t see much harm.

Bon appétit!

There is an awesome bakery that has some pastry cases at the quilt expo. I had a canoli and a walnut snuggle for early dinner. Had chicken nuggets for dinner on the road.
