Judges 10:6-18
Confession and Repentance
Sin separates us from God. It is a simple truth. This passage demonstrates the process we all need to go through in order to remove that barrier and come into right relationship with Him again. The first part of the process involves confession--telling God what you have done wrong. The second part involves repentance--turning away from the wrongdoing. The Israelites confessed that they had worshiped foreign gods, and they got rid of their idols and served the Lord.
When we don't confess our sins, we end up trying to hide from God. Just like Adam and Eve in the garden, we feel we cant face Him. But the problem with attempting to hide from God is that its impossible. The bible says that everything we dow will e made known--even the things we say and think in secret.
Nothing is heavier and more destructive than sin. When you confess you're not telling God anything He doesn't already know. God wants to know that you know you have sinned and that you are ready to turn away from it.
