SUPOER CLUB -Wed March 22

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Mar 21, 2018 4:08 am

Dinner last night at my Dd's was delish! She made chicken Parmesan, my DGS, Alec, made homemade pasta, my other DGS, Drew, made a ceasar salad, and my DSIL opened a bottle of French wine. Then Alec also made my birthday cake. I think he did OK, don't you? It was RICH, though! Yum!!

Today we have no plans. No hospital run, nothing. I told my sis and DBIL it's "our" anniversary of one month together so we need to celebrate! lol!

Albert update: As of yesterday he's still on ice chips, but I finally got an RN to listen to me about the thrush in his mouth. She said they 'will address that'. Maybe if they get that under control, he will be able to tolerate food better. And GO HOME!! He is walking much better, has good color, jokes, and is getting feisty. My niece, Carmen, said her mom called her at 4:30 in the morning, worrying about cleaning Al's stoma. Took a while to convince Barb that the nurses were taking care of it just fine.

Other BIL update: still in hospital in CO but is improving. Pictures of him make him look kind of awful, but he sort of looks that way anyway. (Did I say that???)

CHICKIE - you are so artistic! Look at your flowerbeds, your home, your sewing, your cooking, your cake/cookie decorating. I'm not surprised that you do watercolor painting as well!

BECCA - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! I hope you have a fabulous day! Is your DD going to be there today?

IRISH - what a bummer about that credit card! I bet you were talking to someone sitting in their closet - in India! That's how so many big companies do their 'customer service'. Some service! I'm sure your bank could issue you a card almost immediately if you wanted. However, I'm sure after so many years, that cancelled card was what you wanted to keep.

JANA - great news on Kate and Lila! I had forgotten that Sarah had been widowed. It's a rough road and you never get over it, just learn to live with it. Most days are fine, and then all of a sudden, it hits you all over again. Glad the bathroom is making some more progress.

Tonite, to "celebrate our one-month anniversary together" I'm going to make green chili chicken enchilada casserole for supper. We'll have leftover chili as a side dish and some Mexican rice. also, leftover cornbread my sis made the other day. Oh, and salad. June made a giant salad two days ago. I hope it's still edible. She doesn't cook much here, but when she does, she makes enough to feed a dozen people.

How's the supper plan at your house coming along?

Happy Birthday Becca!

Still raining here, just lightly, no floods or gullywashers.

Good morning! I think today is the 21st, but who really knows… I’m loving the cake!!! It’s beautiful, but I’m sure it was rich and decadent. Sounds like you had a purrrrfect birthday dinner!!! … however do I train someone around here to cook for me??? Ha, ha!!! I remember you made me a birthday cookie!!! It was great!

Today I’m on all doggy duty. We are supposed to get to the 50s today, and I’m so ready!!! It was a cold walk to Ava’s yesterday. Oh, sad news here… we had one live birth and one stillborn yesterday. We are only 3 for 5 this year. Last year we were 105% live births—not going to do that this year, for sure. I cry with the mama cow. She stayed with her cold little baby, even cleaned it up. DH took care of it later. (I don’t want to know!!!) I cried.

Mary and Irish—I am NOT a painter. I play with my paints and don’t really do much with them. I wish I knew how to paint. Guess if I get bored watching quilting videos on you-tube, I can watch watercolor videos and teach myself to paint.

Irish—sorry about your credit card. I was thankful after my late DH died that I had a few accounts in my name and had a credit card as well. It’s hard to get everyone to understand that just because it was in DH’s name that I was the one responsible for getting them paid.

Jana--I used to tole paint with oils and later acrylics. Some I did freehand, some using patterns. After my paints all burned up, I got watercolors to have on hand for Tasha, and sometimes I play with them. I never had art in school--the times didn't meet with my schedule of "needed" classes.

DH arrived early, so I had to fix brunch. The hooligans and I will be walking to take care of all the doggies—treats for all (except me—I just get the walking benefits).

Dinner tonight… I’ll find something… I have plenty of veggies—salads, asparagus, corn, baked potatoes, soup… I’ll get some meat and thaw for DH. I hope to get to my sewing room later… I’m still wanting to press and square up blocks for a comfort quilt, then I want to play with stuff—maybe an early start on Christmas… I have too many things I want to do…

Bon appétit!

PS my earlier posts were from my phone, and all it showed was Mary's picture with the cake. For some reason, the text didn't come up on it. Gotta love our phones!

Good afternoon ladies,
My goodness, that cake looks so delicious! Wish I had grands that cooked, something besides ramen noodles, that is! Hope you had a wonderful day.
Happy birthday to you Becca. Those are fun days, for sure. My youngest grand has a birthday coming up in a few weeks. He is our boring child. Just vanilla cake and vanilla ice cream for him. He did say that the frosting could be vanilla, but you can color it any color....Ha....
Sorry about your babies, chickie. I am not a good farmer either, I wouldn't think. I would not want to know either.
I don't think customer service is anything close to what it used to be Irish. You may have better luck at your bank, but then, maybe someone from the credit card company will take the time to call you back. Our company stays on top of charges that don't seem to be ours. It usually doesn't take anytime at all to get a new card from them, stinks when you want to use the same number on accounts that you have had a while.
Tonight I will probably go by to pick up subs, and I don't know what for JR yet....youngest grand is having a visit at the hospital. She may be allergic to wheat products. Sure do hope they find something soon. She has been fighting something for over a year now, poor little thing. She hasn't much weight to spare. Wonder if she can have a slice of cheesecake. I will have to check the ingredients....
You all have a great day....Becky

Good afternoon!

Here again! Picked up Ethan from school and a appointment at the Dr for his eye - pink eye wer're pretty sure. Sarah will take him later.

Sarah was widowed at 21. During that time before and after, Stu lived with us from when he was about 6 months old. That's why I called him my fifth child. A brain tumor took Sarah's first husband.

The sheetrock is in the basement. Drove the big truck back there and unloaded it through the basement window. No stairs to carry it down! Ethan and I made dinner for when they were done. Ethan wanted chili.

Chickie - when I looked here earlier, it was just the picture of Mary too.

Dinner - leftovers may turn into chili dogs, we will see.
