SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Feb 20th
Good morning!
We're 29* this morning, but no wind and no rain. I'll have to bundle up for my walk later. Scottie and I always walk from 8:15 to 9:00~ish with the neighbors from across the road, Lori & Duchess. We have our usual paved walking trail, but sometimes we also walk the neighborhoods near us to keep our eye on all the building that's going on.
My sis will probably be here around 2pm so we have the morning to ourselves. I framed and hung my X-stitch yesterday and posted a photo. Then I squared up two sets of swap blocks. After that I dug out my hexies and my hand embroidery projects and reacquainted myself with those. We're going to have a lot of waiting room time coming up soon and I want to be ready.
Speaking of waiting room time, My DSIL is having hernia surgery tomorrow and we plan to go wait with my DD. It's about 27 miles away in Bremerton. Al & Tina can come along or hang out here with Scottie, or go revisit her old haunts around the area - their choice.
BECCA - glad you are getting your road repaired, but bummed that it's you and your family that have to do it all! Your neighbor should be ashamed! I wonder why he stopped to watch and make the comment he did if he didn't plan to help!
CHICKIE - you are always on the go! That must be what keeps you so youthful! You are optomistic, too, to plant new plants in February. Sorry your babies ate your old plants. But they gotta do what they gotta do! Glad you finished the invitations, but sorry you didn't get much of an acknowledgment. But, perhaps, she is waiting for when she writes all her thank-you notes. I will stay hopeful for you.
JANA - 8" of snow! I think that's probably the snow that my sister encountered as she drove through - wait for it - . . . . SNOWVILLE, UT! She was talking to me on the phone as they were in and out of snowstorms going from Ogden to Twin Falls.
BECKY - your busy household keeps you on your toes! Glad your DH is able and willing to pitch in. Hope your H/A is gone for good. Have you ever figured out what triggers them? Your DD's job must be interesting.
TINA - is the strep gone from your house now? How is Frankie feeling? Is Dad settled in yet?
IRISH - You will so enjoy the graduation. How long will you be away?
My DD and I went to my SIL's in Pendleton, CA (Marines) back in 1988. It was amazing. (He wasn't my SIL in those days, but we knew it was only a matter of time.) You know, now as we travel anywhere, I notice Subaru Foresters all the time! They are everywhere! In every color! I think of you every time I see one. Just like I think of Jana now every time I notice a cream Highlander and Chickie when a little red pick-up rolls by. If you want to know, I drive an '05 sky blue Camry. With a black dog in the back seat.
LINDA - I enjoy the visuals you send of your pretty valley all in blossom. I sure hope it doesn't freeze too hard.
I'll be putting homemade chili into the crockpot in a bit. We're also going to have a salad and cornbread. We might even go fancy tonite, since it's our company's first night here and scrape the cat off the dining room table and eat there instead of hunkered in front of the TV. We can really put on the dog here if we have too. Once we take off the cat!
What's the plan at your house?

Good morning!
Mary - so glad your DS made it through! UHP shut down I15 near Nephi for a time yesterday and there were 247 accidents here in the valley. I stayed home! Snowville is where some of the sod farms are for the company Sarah's works for. They thought that the sod season would start a little early this year, not! LOL! We are still expecting lake effect snow today, about 4 to 6 inches more.
Lila's due date is the middle of April, but in about 4 weeks, the doctor is taking Kate off her med to prevent early labor. So by our thinking and Kate's history, probably near the end of March.
Dinner, well we are going to Costco this morning, so I am sure something interesting will jump into the basket, humm, maybe a pot roast.
Enjoy,
Jana

Elvis’s “Cold Kentucky Rain” has NOTHING on Kansas’s cold, icy rain!!! Remember yesterday was to be 65 and so was today??? Not so!!! Around 3:00 yesterday a cold front blew in and temperatures fell to the 30s and rain fell much of the day. I slogged over to take care of Choc and Maggie several times in the rain (I drove!), and back over this morning in the rain when I woke up. My truck had ice on it. I can (barely) tolerate cold OR rain, but cold AND wet---I really want to hibernate, but I can’t. Sigh! Oh, the icy rain is accompanied by thunder! Poor Tinker Bell!!!
I actually did think of spring on Sunday when I planted, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to come for at least a few more days… probably a month or two. I had to make myself practice my yoga this morning—really wanted to go back to bed and hide under the covers. I really need the SUN!!! (I go through this every year, so don’t worry about me!)
Still didn’t hear from DGD about the invitations. I laughed when you said “thank you notes.” I’m not holding my breath for those, either—don’t hold your breath! She didn’t acknowledge high school or college graduation monetary gifts. I thought she would at least acknowledge them to her grandpa.
Mary, your Santa is beautiful! I remember those patterns. I don’t remember the designer. Waiting room hand projects keep you from going crazy. I did a lot of little appliqué, piecing blocks, and some cross stitch in those years. Hope you have a good time with your sis, and best wishes for a successful surgery tomorrow!
Jana—I love the little dress!!! Thanks for a trip down Memory Lane! It’s so much like some of the dresses I made DD complete with pantaloons! I made all her clothes, and she always wanted panties to wear under the dresses to match! She pulled them on over her “real” underpants.
Linda—I hope no freezing!
This is kind of short today. I quilted Mom’s placemats yesterday and got binding on one. Then I took a break, noticed DH was watching a movie, got caught up in it, and… no more sewing as it was time to walk dogs and fix dinner. I’ll do the rest of the binding today and get back to the placemats and napkins for DGD.
We had tacos last night—yummy to me, but DH didn’t say too much. He is so not a Mexican food fan. Tonight I’ll give him the ole stand-by—steak and taters and a salad. I’ll have soup and salad. There’s banana bread for later.
Bon appétit!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Feb 20th
Morning everyone:
Guess it is cold everywhere. It was 29 degrees when I got up. Yesterday was really windy with a such a biting cold that we had to cut our walk short. Wind like that stirs up the ions, which DH is very reactive to, so he had a bad day yesterday. He was cooped up in the computer room all afternoon because I had my TLQ group over for the afternoon. We did get to sit out in the new sun room and the sun played peek aboo with the clouds. Heard that it did snow in the mountains yesterday.
On a sad note one of our group that has been recently diagnosed with an agressive brain tumor is quickly going downhill. I don't expect her to last 3 months. She is the nicest, sweetest little lady you can imagine. Fortunately she has a wonderful family and her abiding faith.
Today ADT is coming to add an alarm motion sensor in the sun room to complete our system. It is so sad that we have to stay alarmed so much of the time but we have had 4 attempts at entry. Being a corner house with an alley as well as at the edge of town makes us very vulnerable. Unfortunately we are deemed "rich", LOL, and the have-nots think we are fair game because we can just buy replacements. They would be very disappointed if they actually got inside because we only have 1 small TV, a 40 year old stereo, and two old desktop computers. We don't have the latest, greatest electronics. But it is still un-nerving when we come home and find the screens bent all out of shape, or the garage door off its cable.
MaryZ - Here are some more pics of the valley "waking up". This is a tulip tree. When you see it booming with the daffodils, you know spring has sprung. This pic was taken 2 weeks ago. The tulip blooms open to dinner plate size for 2 weeks, then those large petals all drop off in a matter of days. The ground is then covered in pink and white. Then the leaves come out for the summer. I always look for them for the first sign that winter is leaving.

Later today we have to check out the RV in storage, make sure the cover didn't blow off yesterday, empty the water buckets (that drying stuff), start the engine for a bit. We might be able to start camping early this year since no rain. Also have to take the couch cushions back to the upholsterer to be redone so they will fit back on the couch.
Glad you are all doing well. Dinner tonight is left over lasagna and a salad. Have a good rest of the week.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Feb 20th
Good afternoon from warm, sunny, spring/summer like SW. Pa...Yep, it's into the 70s but then back to the 40/50 for the rest of the week.....
BIG NEWS! We have another egg in the nest near me...This eagle couple are real fighters...Last year, right after the 1st egg was laid, the tree blew down and the egg was lost...Shortly after, they started building a new nest and Momma laid what was either the 2nd or 3 egg which went on to fledge...If all goes well, the 1st egg should hatch around the 20th of March.....So exciting......
Mary, your picture is absolutely gorgeous.....Another masterpiece...Glad to hear your DS will be finally getting there...Any more, I don't even try to keep all the cat hair in check, it's a condiment in this house.....My sister's name is JoAnn and her surgery went off without a hitch...DDIL, Cindy went with us and they picked me up at 5:15 this morning and we were sitting having breakfast about 9:00...They gave her a block and warned her to make sure she kept her arm in that sling because she has no control and could very easy hit herself in the nose (which she's already done)...I actually thing they gave her laughing gas because she was really having too much fun in recovery...So another fun trip in 2 weeks to have the stitches removed and see how it's doing...Cindy and I both told her, we only go along for the food.....
Terry and I leave tomorrow evening, headed for San Antonio and will be gone until late Sunday night...From looking at the schedule, there will be much to see and do and if Stephan and Christine sneak in a wedding, more excitement....
Jana, I love, love the dress....You know, you really could go into business...With all you do, you really would be in demand....So, you're the lucky ones to get all the snow.....Honestly, we don't want it........
Once again, I'm running...Just got home and now, I'm off to see Jim for a couple of minutes and then get a hair cut...Yesterday when I visited with him, they had put him back to bed after lunch and he pretty much slept most of the time I was there...The nurse did tell me, he's now refusing anything on a spoon so they're trying to give him more Ensure and mix their "magic cup" with the Ensure to give him more nourishment...It's really going to be hard being away....
I need to drag out the suitcase and decide what I'm taking, make my list for the "cat sitter" and make a few calls......
As for dinner, don't really see that happening but that's OK.....
You all have a great day...........
Happy eating..............
