Genesis 15:1-6
Can't you just hear the exasperation in Abram's voice? "God, I appreciate that You're my shield and reward. That's great and all. Don't think I don't appreciate it, BUT....what I really want is for You to fulfill YOur promise of descendants. Let's get on with that promise about becoming a 'great nation'. I want a son!"
Abram had been waiting a long time. God had promised many descendants to Abram back when he was a mere 75 yrs old (12:4). He would be 100 yrs old when Isaac was finally born (21:5). That means Abram and Sarai waited for 25 yrs for God to fulfill His promise.
We have trouble waiting for things. We get anxious and sometimes even upset if our wait is too long. If you have to wait on the phone on hold, you hang up; if you have to wait in traffic, you honk your horn or hit the steering wheel in disgust. If you wait at a Drs appt, you go ask "How much longer?". We hate to wait. When you pray do you also expect immediate results? Sometimes are you also impatient with GOD? It happens to us all. We pray and then we expect to have that prayer immediately answered on our time schedule, not God's.
What answer from God are you waiting on right now? Healing, job, family situations, Salvation of a loved one, restoration of your marriage, or maybe financial provisions. Whatever it is, keep on praying and waiting. Release it into God's hands and let Him do it in His way and His time. His answer will be worth the wait.
Hugs and prayers
