SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Jan 25th
Good morning!
So much to report! Scottie is better this morning! Vet is almost certain he has pancreatitis and she said it's a good bet that the stuff he's been eating at Vicki's Gas & Eats is the cause. We do leash him a lot when outside but sometimes give him the run of the property for exercise and usually only if we're outside, too. But I guess we'll have to muzzle him now. Anyway, we'll call vet this morning and see if he has to go back today or if we can manage him on our own now.
My brother, Al, got his surgery date finally. March 8th. We can't believe that it's so far out. But they are coordinating the schedules of 6 different surgeons so that's probably why. I just hope he's still salvagable by then!
Bill's brother's chemo has stopped working. They know this because his hair is growing back. So today he has an appt to discuss his one last option, And Bill thinks Mike will decline further treatment.
In other, non-health-related news, our wallpaper came and the green accent wall we just finished painting is SOO the wrong shade! So back to the paint store WITH the wallpaper, to find something different. So guess what we'll be doing this afternoon. Sigh. But hopefully by the weekend, this entire project will be in our rear-view mirror!
I've done no sewing for a week. I think I'm going through withdrawals. My machine is in for service, though I do have my little travel Janome. I want to do some Feb lotto blocks and did pull some fabrics. It's such a neat block I couldn't resist signing up. But probably won't do any actual sewing until after the weekend.
TINA - glad to see you at the table! And good to hear that progress is being made on the trailer house. Most people say they've never been busier than after they retired. But your Frankie is putting exclamation points on that statement!
CHICKIE - when we go out at night with Scott he's always leashed and we WANT to carry the flashlight. It's a Maglite and you know that saying about them, "Doubles as a weapon". Ya just never know what's out in the dark. I hate dark. Dark and wind. Your glass pond sounds beautiful! I can so picture it!
BECCA - I think a tea party for a doll is a priceless memory! I bet that was fun! We've given birthday parties for cats and a dog once.
LINDA - welcome home! Sounds like you had a good time, even the week with your frisky aunt! Glad your house was still standing when you got home. Can you revive your plants? when you said you used Neem Oil to deter critters from eating your roses, did you mean critters like deer or critters like aphids? I have 4 roses - 2 are climbers - that need some serious TLC and I'm not a good rose mom.
BECKY - In WA, unless a person is declared incompetant (medically or legally) they can't be forced to do anything. Vicki knows this, and on some level knows she's "gone 'round the bend" so she refuses to go to a doctor because she knows what they'll say. Her mom had the same disease and lived with Vicki the last year of her life. Sorry about your carpets! With kids and dogs, that's just the way life is. My DD trained her boys from birth - no shoes in the house. This goes for guests, too. And her carpets are 18 yrs old and still look pretty good. However, that's not the case in our house. We live on our rugs and I have to say, they show it. Life is life. and it's often dirty!
JANA - such good news to hear about the police catching the bad guy! Just makes you want to go hug every member of law enforcement you can find! I hope anyone who helped harbor the perp gets charged, too!
IRISH - hope you're able to stop by today. You know we're all sending you hugs and good thoughts for Jim. The bed alarm that Chickie mentioned does exist. They used one on Vicki a few years ago when she was hospitalized for a week. it worked well.
We did cancel our dinner with friends last night. and a good thing. We were at Vet's until 6pm. But we had the turkey dinner anyway, so leftovers tonite - turkey, mashed potatoes, asparagus, and cranberries. And we have enough for all y'all . . . .

Good morning
)
Mary, I'm glad Scotty is doing better, I hope for more improvement. Gosh that is a way out for Al's surgery. Prayers for Mike.
I'm making it here early today. After breakfast is finished it's haircut time for the boys then giving them a bath and then me....I get hair all over me! Frankie is going to wait until I get all that finished before he goes and help Dad.....it needs to warm up first anyway before he goes.
I'm hoping to trace some applique today of snowmen for 2 more placemats I was working on before Christmas....I'm saving them to give for next Christmas to Holly....I'll be ahead for once
)
I made BBQ ribs last night with stove top, peas, salad and oatmeal raisin cookies (Dad's favorite) for afters. The kids finally tried the cookies this morning and liked them LOL they said yucky to raisins until they ate the cookies. I'm not sure yet what I'll be making for supper tonight.

Hi again!
TINA, glad to see you here, setting the table for us all this morning! you might try Craisins instead of raisins. They are more nutritious and taste a little different. More fruity. I much prefer them myself.
Scottie had to go back to the vet again today. His father just dropped him off on his way to have breakfast with The Guys. I found he didn't keep his little teaspoon of food down. But we're making good progress with him! The amazing thing is, this didn't happen on the weekend, but at the beginning of the week! Otherwise he'd have had to go to the 24-hr emergency vet in Tacoma - MUCH more expensive!
And good news - I guess. We found extra paint left over from the living room a few years ago that will go well with our wallpaper. So while we still have to repaint this morning, we won't have to re-buy! I get to tape to get ready while Bill is at breakfast. I also get to do laundry. It's great to be me.

Good morning!
Mary - great news with Scottie - he will get better quick! As for finding that paint, isn't that what we save it for? LOL
Tina - good to see you! It takes one day at a time and it foes get easier after losing someone we love. Muchael is so in need of a haircut, I just need to do it!
Maybe I will make my chicken and rice cassarole. One of Michael's favorites.
He and Sarah are working on the Batt Cave bathroom. They cut all the studs too long yesterday, by one inch, so they will drag them back up to the garage and shorten them. Usually, you cut too short, but now we don't need a trip to get more wood.
I need a run to a LQS. I need backing fabric for a couple of quilt tops waiting for me to LA them. No Ethan today, as Sarah doesn't have her work meeting.
Enjoy!

Hi ladies,
Busy day as usual on here!
Glad Scottie is somewhat better and hope he is back to 100% in not too long. Awesome that you found paint to match and that there is enough! Yes, my carpets really look bad, we are either slobs or we live on them too! Prayers for you and the family for Bill's DB.
Tina, Glad to see you up and busy. Does your DH know that he is retired yet? LOL.....My DH is the same, usually puttering, doing something. Oatmeal raison, my favorite!
Jana, glad that the caught your perp....and that the boards were too long instead of the other way. I imagine you would hear words then.
Becca, I don't like our new grocery either, there are a lot in town, just none really convenient for me. And utilities, yes, I can see why he was upset.....
Well, I think we are having smoked sausage, fried potatoes, and maybe a little sauerkraut. Haven't had that in a while, but will have to do another veggie for the kids. Don't think any of the grands will eat the sauerkraut. DD and DH love it, and so do I.....
Hope you all have a great night....Becky
