Psalm 121

This is often referred to as the "traveler's Psalm". It is one of the most beautiful expressions of God's constant presence and watch care as we go and come. The visual image that triggers confidence in the Lord's protection is the majesty of the mountains. They remind us that God created the heavens and earth. If His power and sovereignty over the whole earth can bring the mountains into existence, it's a small thing for Him to care for us. THere is also the connotation of acknowledging that our help comes from one who is exalted and over all; the mountains seem to remind us of how high and lifted up the Lord of heaven and earth is, yet He is available and cares for us.

As I awake each morning, my eyes first see the majesty of the mountains. I live in a blessed area. What a joy it is! We have a hymn in our hymnal that I love to sing.

For the strength of the hills we bless thee
Our God, our father's God.
Thou hast made thy children mighty,
By the touch of the mountain sod.
Thou hast led thy chosen Israel,
To freedom's last abode,
For the strength of the hills we bless thee,
Our God, our father's God.

I look at these "hills" and smile - towering 12,000 foot peaks and they are hills?

Yes, we as children of God, decendcents of the house of Israel, are truly blessed by our loving Father in Heaven.

This Psalm is a favorite of mine.The Mts in front of our Home is a constant reminder of how great & majestic God is.But yet he cares about each one of us.This Psalm hangs in my bathroom.Yesterday I read lots of Psalms & they are comforting & makes you ponder.Thank God he cares for us. Becca

A little late here, but oh what a great devotional. I love the picture you shared. The mountains and valleys are so awesome. And to ride through the mountains on the back of a Gold Wing and see our awesome God's creation and enjoying the clouds and fresh air. It is simply breath taking!!
