SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Dec. 17th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Dec 17, 2017 3:55 am

Good morning!

We're to have a rainy day but that's OK - the Seahawks are accustomed to playing in the rain. and the Rams aren't! So it could work to our favor today. Hoping .. .

I got my brother's tree quilt finished yesterday and posted a photo in the Photos section. I'm hoping Bill will get it on the frame today. I really would love to get it finished in time to give it to him on Tuesday afternoon when we drive him to Seattle for his first consult with the oncologists and urologists at Virginia Mason.

This morning I have two quilts that are up for bindings. I should be able to get them done before the game starts at 1:00. Not that there is a rush on them, but they are taking up a lot of room in my little sewing room as is.

BECCA - Best if you stay home and your hubby sleeps a lot. Most healing takes place while sleeping. I'll take the Snickerdoodles, but you can let Irish have ALL the gingersnaps. I eat them, but only during a cookie emergency.

IRiSH - they are going to have to add on to your post office just to hold all your packages! That table was such a bargain! When Alec moved out last month, he said he and his roommate were using a card table and needed to get a real one. I told him to haunt the Goodwill and I noticed his older brother echoed my advice.

JANA - I'm a box saver, too. and I find a lot of cool gift boxes at Goodwill! If you haven't yet, check it out. They also have wrapping paper, cards, and gift bags. How are things going down in the "elf den"? Are things almost all 'wrapped up'?

BECKY - you have quite a houseful! I miss having kids around, but if we did then we'd have no computer room, no quilting room, and no sewing room. It's been a good trade-off! haha! we have a four bedroom house, yet no where but the floor for a guest to sleep.

supper tonite isn't happening in the usual form. DH has been saving the leftover smoked catfood that I let him buy for our party so he can have that on crackers during the game today. We also have grapes, cookies, crackers and cheese log, and I might make myself a salad.

What form is your supper taking tonite?

Good morning!

Mary - you are quick with those bindings! I wish I was down to just 3 quilts in the queque.

Becca - prayers for your sweet DH. You have such a wonderful family.

Dinner - I have all kinds of fixins in the refrig/freezer, so will see what I can come up with. Odd todaay, no Ethan joining us for dinner - practices are over until the middle of January. Then Sarah's professional choir and orchestra starts practice for their Easter presentation. This is a highly attended musical production throughout the Salt Lake Valley.

Sewing in the Elf den this afternoon. I am down to just Andrew's and my little Baden's. Don't worry, the robes are really quick and easy. Sarah picked me up a ton of boxes, so I can get wrapping. Everything is purchased or made, and I have several extra rolls of scotch tape!

I have snow on the ground! Not much more than a dusting, but it will stay and another set of storms are due in this week.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good early afternoon from a dreary, but not as cold, SW. Pa...Sure wish the sun would come out, would make for a much cheerier day.....

Mary, I love, love your quilt and your DB will be thrilled...Like I've said, I'm still in the "trying to decide colors" and you'll have your's already done....I think all our kids are "thrift store" shoppers, especially Terry..One person who wouldn't buy anything for herself was the ex..I remember when we were shopping and she was looking for dress shirts for Terry and I suggested she look for maternity tops for herself and her remark, "I'd never wear anything from here"..But Terry was wear "those" shirts to the office, duh...That's the kind of gal she was and now is the ex, lol....You know, I really should be writing a book, probably be a best seller,....

Becca, Having Kathy work in the PO is the big reason most of our stuff comes that way...But, I do miss the UPS man (especially in the summer, lol)...They used to deliver all of Jim's stuff and now it goes directly to the home...Our PO gal is super nice, if I hadn't gotten there to pick it up, she would have stopped by and delivered it...We are very, very lucky to have her...But, it sounds like you're keeping those delivery trucks running....Hope your day is a good one...

AND speaking of Post Office or postal stuff, have any of you seen the new Alzheimer stamp? Kathy sent Jim a card with the new stamp on it and it's special..She also said, 11 cents from each stamp goes for research...Check them out!

Jana, so now it's the "elf" cave...I have a feeling it a busy, busy place...There's something about, Christmas and little ones, makes it extra special....

I'm waiting for Terry to stop down and then later I'm visiting with Jim...Terry is doing some of my shopping (for the boys) and we need to do some, passing of the $$$, lol....Plus, his wife takes care of her Mom today and this is a good chance for us to catch up...Her Mom had had a stroke a few years ago and although she does live by herself, she needs help with lots of things plus, she knows what she wants to say but just can't get it out, which is very frustrating for her...Each family has their own trials.....
I put a eye of round roast in the oven early this morning and then switched it to the crock pot in case Terry would like to take it home for his dinner....So, I might have roast for my dinner and I might not, lol....I think the main reason I put it on was I've missed that good smell coming from the oven, not that I was hungry for it...

You all have an extra special day......

Happy eating..................

Busy, rainy day today. Trying to clean up a bunch of messes, laundry, it never ends, Christmas cards out, I know, late, and have tomorrow off to finish the shopping, but I do have a list, hope it doesn't take long. I think we are going for potatoe soup & chili tonight. That way, maybe they will eat chili dogs tomorrow! Not often it works that way, but one can hope.
Hope you all have a great rest of the weekend....Becky
