Dec 13 daily devotion

Psalm 119: 97-112

God's Word is not a road map that will outline the course of your life into the distant future, providing a specific answer to all of life's questions, but it is like a guide that shows the way. When you are obedient and faithful to live according to its truth, you will find life unfolding as God intended because His hand is upon you. Usually, we see God's Word as telling us how to live in terms of behavior and conduct but not necessarily relevant to practical decisions regarding school and careers, purchases and investments, and the multitude of issues we face each day. That misses the point entirely When we live according to God's Word, it puts Him in control. We will not be diverted by selfish motives and an independent spirit that leads us contrary to God's will. We do what we know to do, and God will take care of the uncertainties. We can make decisions in confidence, unconcerned about making a wrong choice because God is leading us. Our impressions and inclinations are shaped by a heart of obedience and desire to do His will.

Izzy, this is one of my most favorite Bible verses...and I read it as you do.

My DB1 struggles with some of the decisions he/ we have made concerning papa's care over these last, almost 4 years, since mamma passed to be with Jesus...especially these last 3 as he continues to decline...I have, too.

This verse is perfect to reflect on concerning this journey..
I tell him, no..please don't struggle or doubt, as he/ I ask God's guidance and does what he believes is the best for papa based on that. The journey, as you know..has been, and still is, difficult.
It doesn't always lead to what we expected or hoped for but each time we listen we learn what to do next...and each time he/ we become more confident that we are doing our best based on our prayers for His help for papa.

Since mamma passed, especially concerning the care of papa...I rely on HIS Lamp to light my way..

Thank you for reminding me that I need His Lamp to live my life.

((((Hugs)))) and prayers, Sonya

Proverbs 3: 5-6 teaches that we are to trust in the Lord. He will direct our paths. Our agency here on this earth allows us to choose to walk the path, lit by gospel principles and with the Lord's help, make our decisions for this life. At times, things may look like wrong choices, but if we work and study out our choices, then asking for a confrmation, God will answer.

This has always been one of my favorite scriptures. One that gives us hope & security in Knowing if we trust God & follow his commandments he will take care of us.Theres no guarantee there won’t be problems along the way.But God is always near & will see us thru. Thanks Izzy & May God bless each of you. Becca
