SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Sept 3rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Sep 03, 2017 3:11 am

Good morning!

We are going into the 90's again today. And for the next 2-3 days as well! Other than for a few drops one morning about 2 weeks ago, we haven't had any rain for almost 3 months and none is predicted for the next two weeks at least. It's getting awfully dry here and we have some big fires going. Strict fire bans are in place in almost all of Washington, even in campground firepits. So our neighbor, Tammy, a tavern/restaurant waitress who lives in the house with the big dead tree and who works evening shift, came home with friends after work and built a big bonfire at 12:30am! I swear, between Vicki and Tammy and the tree, our house is going down!!

JANA - I'm glad Kate is feeling better. I took meds for nausea with my first two, though I don't think mine was nearly as bad as Kate. It was just what we did back then. I wouldn't mind a helping of your creamed chipped beef on toast! I haven't had that in probably 35 years! I sometimes make the same thing for Easter breakfast but sub in sliced boiled eggs for the beef.

LINDA - you have probably melted away by now and can't post! Or eat!

BECCA - nice to have a good visit with friends! Did Denise arrive yet? You never heard of "lupper"? It's like "brunch", between lunch and supper. Or "linner" if you prefer! lol!

CHICKIE - I know you were busy yesterday with mom and then making food for tonite's street dance. Would love to be there for that! We love dancing!

TINA - How are your parents doing? I imagine you are growing weary of having everyone ask, "When is the move going to happen"? Though, to be honest, with the way your family is (no offense), you might consider that age-old phrase, "Be careful what you wish for".

Tomorrow is my DSIL's birthday. He will be 49. FORTY-NINE!! I've known this kid since he was 9 and my DD was 6! Though they didn't become "Lee & Lara" until they were 14 & 17. Married at 18 & 21. They've been soulmates almost as long as they've been alive. Anyway, we are meeting them at a pub/restuarant of his choosing at happy hour to celebrate the big day and also give them their bike quilt. I named it "Cruisin' Together", but the pattern name is "Mod Cruiser". It's of a big pieced lime green bike on a solid black quilt. They LOVE bikes and bike decor.

Also, Bill finished quilting Fancy Forest so I'll bind that today and mail it off to Autumn in Texas. Then all three of my kids will have their "for no reason except that Mom loves them and can't stop making quilts" quilts. :o)

If you're still with me, you know there's no cooking here today! Hooray! We'll be eating something at the restaurant for "Lupper". We'll hopefully beat the crowds and get happy hour prices!

Happy Eating!

Hello everyone, sunny here & warming after a cooler nite.So nice.

Maryz No Lupper here, never heard the term. But whatever suits I say.We used to have neighbors that ate only 2 meals a day so guess it was Lupper.Know the kids will love the quilt.
No Denise is still battling Remodeling. They added chair railing in Dining & got new front door & other things. She said if she had been gone there would have been a lot of mistakes. We thought she needed to be there. She said she'll come soon.It will be nice whenever she gets here.
The tree was a big oak.He didn't get finished. We checked them yesterday looking to see if anymore look rotten but we didn't see any.It made a big mess bec of the leaves too.your neighbors really keep you on your toes.

Jana I was sick with all 3 of mine.I never took any Meds to help. Its a really bad sick like no other.Glad she is doing better. They told us the Meds could cause birth defects.

Linda Hope the heat hasn't got you down.Guess you adjust to it.

Chickie You're busy with Mom ,DH, babies & Hooligans.Enjoy your dance.

DH loved his creamed chipped beef on toast. Its burger day here with roasted new potatoes, & green salad. Becca

Morning all:

Woke to blood red sun, smoke filled sky and both of us coughing and sneezing and congested. Plus it is still hot, hot, hot. 108 again yesterday. Power went out at 10:00 last night and it was still 98. I had a hard time sleeping with it so hot in the house. We have power again this a.m.

Not doing much outside because of the bad air. Just staying inside and cleaning, sewing and reading. It is making DH a little crazy. He hates staying inside. I am finding it best to just keep my mouth shut and not respond to his venting.

So I hope you all have a good day and a Happy Labor Day! Dinner tonight is left over veggie soup and "banned" tacos.

Good afternoon!

Mary - Autumn will be thrilled with her package! Are you sure you want to mail it quite so soon with all the chaos still in Texas?

Becca - better Denise stays home and gets everything done rigbt the first time!

Linda - all those fires! Stay safe in that heat!

Haven't heard from Daniel. When he gets a chance, he posts a picture or two on Facebook from the fire line. I keep tabs on the fire at the Calfire website.

Last night, Matt and family came out with all the dinner fixins and cooked here. Crenda needed to sew scout stuff on Andrew's uniform, so Matt cooked and cleaned up after himself. So, because of that, I still have leftovers for today.

We are warm, but not too bad. Our nights have dropped into the low 60's and I am getting ready to add a blanket to our bed.

Enjoy,
Jana
