SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, August 1st
Good morning!
Can you believe we're already into August!? And I've been trying to ignore it, but no longer can - our early mornings here are starting to have that crisp feel and sound. Though our temps aren't reflecting any fall weather! We'll be in the upper 90's for several days this week! Fortunately, our truck is supposed to be repaired and back to us by end of business Wednesday and Thursday morning (the hottest day) we'll be off to the ocean where it will be 15 degrees cooler. We rarely have heat like this and because of that, not many folks have A/C or coolers of any kind.
Today I think I'll get a couple loads of laundry done and maybe some sewing. Not much else. We haven't been working on our woodpile much due to the heat. No hurries needed there, though.
BECCA - sounds like we learned a lot of similar info from the DNA analysis! Hope your car is back home soon!
CHICKIE - I love those bibs! you are doing good to get in so much walking time! Great pay for dog sitting! Sorry about the rental floor. What a big old hassle! And to take you away from your sewing room, too!
IRISH - happy birthday to all your birthday people today! FB is a great, acceptable place to extend good wishes nowadays! At least it's great for when you forget to send cards! lol! And you're being strong at Pet Smart! Good for you! Our Foxy came from Pet Smart. He was 7 months old and they said he "didn't show well" because he would always hide behind his litter box, so never got adopted. I'm so glad he did because he was waiting for us! and I agree with your kids - NO GUTTERS!! NO LADDERS!! There are gutter and ladder people you can call.
LINDA - welcome home! Sorry you had to come home to such a mess in your kitchen. There would be war if that happened at our house. Rule is - if you make a mess, you clean it,. Happy official retirement! Funny, but my favorite thing when Bill retired was also not having to iron 5 workshirts every week!
JANA - happy class! What did you decide to teach?
Last night we ended up with spaghetti and meatballs. I get the big bag of frozen meatballs at Costco and we get about 8 - 10 meals out of the bag and they are so good. Tonite, I think we'll have enchiladas. And some raw snack veggies.
What's the plan at your house?

Hello everyone,
Maryz We saw where you are to hot hot for your area.DGS doesn't have AC either.Guess you shouldn't need one there. Here all houses built put them in.Weve had one for many many years.DH couldn't make it without one bec of His breathing.
Maryz I think the Irish part is what surprised me most.Never knew
We called the shop about our car yesterday afternoon & it didn't get touched yesterday. The man who was supposed to work on it called in sick. They never bothered to call us.UGH.
Irish Happy to hear you won't be climbing anymore ladders or roofs.Glad you're staying strong.lol I knew you would. So great Terry is there now to aid you.
Linda The kitchen mess sounds like a real big one ,Tomatoes do make a mess when you work on them.Im like Maryz, cleaning it up is part of it.My sweet Mom taught me that.
Chickie We have cooled a tad too.At least no 90s.Your little bibs sounds so cute.
Yes that is Spain.Guess maybe that explains why my DS & I both have dark skin & hair.
Tina Hope you're just busy & not sick.Miss you.
Jana The eclipse is supposed to come right over our town. You wouldn't be
Believe the madness here.People are renting out rooms in their homes at an outrageous price. We will not be in the mania. It only last Such a short time.
There's talk of a fuel shortage. Our little town can't hold the people they are predicting will come.Well see what happens.
We have chicken pie for DH.Im trying to eat all the things needed to bring up BCount. Will do fresh greens today with Banned food.Trying to eat lots of protein, the right kind.Never realized just how much I had changed my eating habits but I know it's bec DH doesn't want to eat & I don't like I used to.
Enough of my book. Happy eating to all. Becca

Good morning!
Mary - I am not teaching this class - it will be quite a challenge for me to sew this quilt. I expect to get my tushie kicked by this pattern clear across the county. The teacher lists the class from beginner to advanced. I put my skill level in the beginner level, guess I will find out!
Becca - oh the frenzy is here too. All the hotels, motels here and in Idaho have been booked at outrageous prices. They are bringing in extra portable cell towers and port-a-potties near Idaho Falls. There is only one freeway, I 15 and the highway patrols expect it to be jammed packed for hours. I.F., is about a 2 1/2 drive from me. Near where I went to college. People here in SLC think they are just going to make a quick trip up and back. Oh yes, the freeway is only two lanes each direction. Not what I am used too in California, where most freeways are 6 or 7 lanes in each direction.
Dinner - I have leftovers, so will add a hot dog and bun, lots of sliced tomatoes on top of the chili, with cheese and onions for dinner. Speaking of Costco, I am having a poppyseed muffin from there for my breakfast. Ethan is eating a chocolate muffin with his special mix cereal.
Enjoy!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, August 1st
Good afternoon from sunny, gorgeous, SW. Pa...Another absolutely purrrrfect day.....
Mary, glad to hear the ocean trip is back on, I had been so disappointed....Something about water, waves, sand, sounds like heaven to me.....We didn't have AC until about maybe 10 years ago and I can probably count on 1 hand the times I've used it....I've always ha an exhaust fan upstairs and it really kept things cool..In fact, the new fan Terry installed has me reaching for a heavy blanket...
Becca, I think our neighbor are planning on traveling down your way to see the Eclipse...Terrible to say but I've never taken an interest in things like that....You have another week to go with that blood count don't you? Keep eating that good stuff.....Right now, my fridge is stuffed with all fresh goodies and I'm loving it...Of course the body is kind of revolting, just not used to anything but chips, lol....Hope you get that car back soon and the charge is low.....
Well, my workers were here this morning and I guess I'm happy about it....Just not sure! They did tease me about trying to get up the ladder and boy, I'll tell you it was so tempting to stay put on the ground...This home based group is called the "Honey Doers", started by a husband and wife..It's always good to see a young couple trying to getter themselves and I think this couple just might make a go of it....I did tell him, I'll be starting that list and probably will be giving him a call.....
Today I am so determined to get the whole house cleaned, really cleaned....To tell you how forgetful I am, I washed the sheets yesterday and last night discovered, the bed making fairy hadn't stopped in, so had to crawl in the bed in the spare room...Sometimes I wonder...Have always thought, my mind does travel a lot and most times forgets to let me know where it's going...
Tonight will be more goodies from the fridge along with zucchini bread that is in the oven...Yesterday I told Jim I'd make him some bread and bring him some on my next visit...
You all have a great day....
Happy eating..........

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, August 1st
Here I am… late as usual! This is an amazing start to Autust—we are cooler today and had a little moisture in the night. Of course, it will warm up, but I’m loving today! The hooligans and I walked to see Choc and Maggie and then to see Ava and back home. I may walk again today to Choc and Maggie. If I do 4 times, Maggie doesn’t have too many accidents to clean up. Sunday I did 4 trips, and no messes!
Meanwhile, DH didn’t need me at the deconstruction site today (at least so far). I helped yesterday as he ripped up floors, I hauled out trash and stacked the flooring we want to salvage. The problem was under the sheeting and the subfloor and joists rotted—leak? So, rebuilding from dirt up. DH is working there today, and I may be there again tomorrow and Thursday.
I’m working on the baby bibs and decided to do a little 9-patch baby quilt, too, for my little cousin with my name. Some of the fabrics I got from Mom are from my DD’s and my niece’s baby/toddler clothes.
Jana—thank you for your help with the genealogy “map”. DH’s late life used to make Devil Dogs all the time. I’ve made them a couple of times. Aren’t they the same thing as whoopee pies? That’s amazing about the eclipse frenzy! Good luck with your pattern! I would put your skill level in with the advanced, or “pushing advanced”—definitely not beginner! You will ace the class!!! Enjoy!
Linda—so sorry to hear of your vision difficulties. You are definitely at the right place for cutting edge knowledge and care. If it’s any consolation, I’m the clean up person inside, too. My DH doesn’t cook, but he carries in messes on his boots and splashes up the countertops and sink. Hope you find him a hobby—like cleaning house so you can quilt! My DH likes to sleep in as well, but he gets up to go to coffee with the geezers at 8 a.m. Such a night owl!
Irish—so glad your kids will not let you do trees, gutters, roofs, etc.!!! I think a Honey Do company would be in huge demand. A lot of men have no idea which end of a screwdriver is the business end. I don’t think our renters can replace a light bulb! I need to go out and check and see if I have any tomatoes. I know there are some green ones. Maybe I should have fried green tomatoes! I love all the fresh goods, too. I’m with you with the water, waves and sand—I love the sounds of the ocean—surf rolling in, surf crashing on rocks, the seagulls calling…
RE: Eclipse---I’ll be on Mom duty for a week, as my sister and BIL are going to the St. Louis area for watching and a family reunion. I guess it will be nearly 100% there as well.
Becca—it’s often hard to eat “right”. DH is not a vegetable or salad eater, and often it’s easier to fix what he likes, but I’ve been trying to stick with lots of veggies on my plate and get him to eat what I can. It’s easy to slip into bad habits. Again, crazy stuff about the eclipse—if someone can gouge, they will to make a fast buck.
Last evening we had hot dogs, cantaloupe, watermelon and corn on the cob. It was easy to fix when we came in from working. Tonight, there are leftovers for steak sandwiches, and a bit of this and that along with more corn and watermelon. I also have a cantaloupe to cut up and cool down. We sure won’t starve!
Bon appétit!
