SUPPER CLUB - Friday, July 21st
Happy Today!
It's going to be a beautiful day here. Going to do some uglies and last minute prep for our big BBQ tomorrow. Someone asked me what the occasion was and I told them it was because the house is clean right now! lol!
The cake I made yesterday was awesome if I do say so myself! And I don't even care for chocolate cake! But it was a five-bowl recipe and that didn't count the two bowls it took to make the frosting. But I think Bill liked it. Chocolate Coconut Meriangue. (can't spell it apparently, but it was tasty!)
CAROLE with an e - I remember when Luke was bitten by that spider! Scary about your DGS being bitten, too! So glad you noticed it! How did Ken's appointment go?
TINA - Monday?? That doesn't give Holly much preparation time. Especially right after surgery.
LINDA - thanks for the eye advice. So far so good here, but I'll keep what you said in mind. I've never made creme brulee. On Master Chef they use a blow torch instead of the oven!
JANA - I don't know what it is about neighbors but we dont' have a single good one in the bunch! Sounds like Sarah doesn't either! Nobody cares anymore.
BECCA - I hope your lawn more and your door locks are all fixed by now!
CHICKIE - you have a lot of quilts on your to-do list! Good thing those blackberries are winding down. Bummer about the old pick-up. Good thing you weren't far from home. Still a half-mile in that heat is a LOT. Did you get your dishwasher yet? So sorry about your DD's friend with ca. And you are quite right about laproscopic procedures. They do pump air into the abdomen and afterward it can take some time for the air to dissipate, which can cause shoulder pain.
IRISH - That had to be a special memory, hearing Danny Boy in that FL restaurant! It would be funny if your neighbor decided to resurrect your old pool! lol! We didn't have a pool, but we did have a big pasture and a bulldozer and whenever my oldest brother decided to clean up the place, he would dig a big hold and everything he could lay his hands on when into it. Frustrated my dad no end! But if anyone ever decides to 'develop' that bit of land, there will be lots of surprises there, too! Are you taking Jim to see the kitties today?
Supper tonite? Hmmmm . . . . I don't know. I don't want any leftovers because tomorrow is our BBQ. Maybe we'll just have bacon and eggs tonite. Bill is easy so he'd be find with PB & J's, but I can probably do better than that.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, July 21st
Morning earlier than usual:
Didn't get out early today because the sun was a blazing red/orange and the sky is so thick with smoke. Plus on Friday, Sat and Sun DH wants a bigger breakfast than just cereal. Since he cooks most of the dinners, I do breakfast. Plus I will be gone most of the next 2 weeks, so I feel I should indulge him somewhat. We had planned to cut the back fence overhanging Star Jasmine in the alley together, but he is on the computer currently. I will have to just wait to see what he wants to do.
For those of you who want to take care of your Featherweight, I found two sites that are the best: novamontgomery.com and singer-featherweight221.com. They have the best videos, information and some neat accessories for your little baby.
Well, DH just decided he didn't want to cut the hedge, so I better get outside and finish cutting the groundcover before I leave. Have a good day you all. Dinner is out tonight to celebrate my birthday on Sunday (the day I leave).

Good morning!
I have Pioneer Woman on while I am sewing - she is cooking chicken fried steak, potatoes with country gravy - that is what will end up in our table tonight, with a variation - I will use chicken. See what happens when you watch food!
My wire hangars came yesterday and they are wonderful! They come in several sizes and lots of styles. The company is Ackfeld Wire in Missouri. Not too expensive, and the work well with my skinnies. So down to make a few more skinnies - I have about 10 pattern envelopes with three different in each one.
Mary - a late Happy Birthday to Bill. I will bet that 5 bowl chocolate cake was heavenly, how could it be anything else - you made it and it was chocolate!
Becca - how you get those numbers up and under control. No fun!
Mary Rose -good yo see you!
Linda - I had star jazmine at my house in California - loved the dmell, but keeping trimmed was a pain!
Enjoy!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, July 21st
Good afternoon from Heat Stroke Farm! We are 97 with a “feels like” 108. Yesterday we had a “feels like” 110. It’s all hot! Not much going on outside. It was “feels like” 85 when I was feeding and watering the calves early this morning. It was funny when I went out, there was a crowd of calves and cows around Pocket Lint and Blackie’s pen. They were all interested in the new feed that “the kids” are getting now. I couldn’t open the gate to let the calves out until the rest of the herd moved on, or I’d have been feeding all of them in that little pen! There’s just not room for 50+ at the dinner table!
We picked up the dishwasher yesterday, and DH and I installed it today. He never reads directions, so I was reading and instructing. Yes, I’m still married… barely! LOL! No, we worked well together, and I didn’t yell about the mess after I’d just swept the floors before he came home for brunch.
With all the talk about neighbors, I’m feeling so lucky to live in the country! Actually we have family for neighbors. Across the road is DH’s late wife’s brother and his wife. At the other end of the farm is our DGS and wife, and across from them is our #3 son (Choc and Maggie’s dad). That’s the entire neighborhood. To the west is the Federal reservoir property.
Mary—five bowls! No way, unless I was entering in a contest… still, I’d be thinking twice about it. That’s too much like cooking a big dinner for two days or more only to have it devoured in 20 minutes!
Linda—somehow I thought your DH was a dentist instead of an optometrist. My dentist is a year younger than I am, and I know he will retire one day—I dread it. My optometrist is the son of the doctor I went to when I lived in Kansas before moving to Missouri for 30 years. I feel bad complaining about our heat when you have heat and smoke. So miserable. My heart aches for everyone. I always give DH his choice of breakfast on Sunday. He picks biscuits and gravy or pancakes. I can usually make enough to parlay them for him for several days. The rest of the week it’s eggs and toast. Saturday when I go to town, he makes his own cereal. Thank you for the Featherweight info!
Becca—this “wet” heat is just oppressive. It’s like breathing under water, and nothing evaporates. Sticky and gritty muddy when the dust sticks on sweat.
I definitely have more quilts on my list… and, DH’s niece and her husband are in the process of adoption of a little boy baby, and my cousin has a new grand daughter—with MY name!!! I’m thinking that calls for something from me! If not a pink quilt, at least some cute pink bibs… SEW many things to do…
Irish—how are the kitties at Petsmart? I used to love that store when I lived by Joplin.
Tina—wow! Changes in your family!!!
Mary—you’re breaking my heart with that view!!! I’ll gaze on my mossy pond… not the same!
Jana—I always get the chicken fried chicken on the Wednesday special at the corner when we go. DH gets the CF steak. Nice you found the hangars for your skinnies! DH made some for me the year I made some little wall hangings. I was pretty impressed with him.
Mary Rose—good to see you! I know you are having so much fun!
We had taco salad last evening for dinner. It was so good… more of the same with the leftovers.
I have to go take care of Choc and Maggie before dinner, then go back before bedtime.
Bon appétit!
