SUPPER CLUB - Wed., May 10
Good Morning!
We are having a short run of beautiful weather this week. Today - 70* but it all comes to an end by tonite. Good thing - I need a break from yard work! Sue will just have to admire my dandelions and rogue grass when she gets here on FRIDAY!!
I texted Irish yesterday and got a reply early this morning - she is feeling better already after seeing a chiropracter and is using a cane now instead of a walker, though her knee is braced and taped. Her family had a big BBQ and she said she laughed all through the evening. Such good medicine. The report on Jim is that he is adjusting quite well to his new surroundings and seems happy and is eating. The hard part will be for Irish to adjust. She says it's difficult for her to turn his care over to others. But for now, things are looking up for her. Her Kathy and Tim will be with her for another week. She is really blessed to have Kathy and Terry there right now. And she misses Supper Club and says hello to you all and thanks you for your prayers.
CHICKIE - you and Lint really make a pair! I think you are a human Pocket Lint! lol!! Thats good to know about your new carpet cleaning magic potion. We can't use it on our new upstairs carpets, but it sure might be the ticket for our 17-yr-old downstairs rugs! I'm going to make a note of that 'recipe'! Do you have an closer measurements than "I used . . "? I'm glad your mom is going to go to the all school function. She should wear a corsage!
TINA - I'm excited for you to have your summer vacation! You need a sign for your front door - "Sewing Genius at Work. Do Not Disturb!" Where is your family reunion usually held? Is it always somewhere different? My younger sister's DH's family always has a reunion every 2 years and it's always a different wagon master and always in a different place.
JANA - I remember when all those trees fell in your CA yard. They took out a storage shed if I remember correctly. I've often thought of different ways/places to store my quilt mags, too, but I always come back to the same thing. My sewing room is only 10' x 10' and is pretty cramped. How handy that Sarah knows sprinkler systems! Our DGS is learning that. Maybe one day he can help us. Our current 'system' is PVC pipe and hoses, all above ground, with timers. But still better than dragging hoses and sprinklers around all day long!
BECCA - that's right - We both have a week in May filled with family birthdays. Between May 23-28 there are 5 birthdays and 2 anniversaries in our clan, among them is my son, Mike, who will be 42 on May 27.
LINDA - your TLQ sounds so nice and welcoming. Do you all work on projects when you're together?
VELDA - how did you do in your physical? Are you good to go for another year?
I can't see the road from the house, but it sounds like we are going into our third day of paving work out front. Sigh. Construction stuff has been going on for 18 months out our driveway - they cleared the 5 acres across from us, have been doing utilities for 9 new homes, tearing up the road, and between weather, permits, and complaints from other neighbors (not us!) it's been delay after delay. At least when it's all done, hopefully this week, we'll have good road to drive on again. The building hasn't even begun yet!
Supper tonite is going to be fajitas and salad. We might even dine al fresco as it's to be a nice day and evening. We can take our supper out onto the deck and listen to bird music while we eat.
What's going on in your kitchen tonite!

Good mmorning,
Thanks for our Irish update. It's good that she has her family there.
Mary - we thought that we were past all the construction near us too, but no. The empty two lots just the other side north of us are building. The one house that is started has dug his basement. Most basements around here are about 10 feet deep, well his is 20 feet. He is building a basketball court in the basement!
I am leaving in just a minute for the funeral. I am timing my arrival to miss the family viewing before the service and just slip in. Aaron is with me as Michael is watching Ethan. It will be fine and I will be the gracious diplomat and not say anything. Even though I would love to leave some sage advice! LOL I know my Aaron well and he will be my protector, he has done that before.
Dinner could be the ribs i bought or out - depends on my mood later. Around here Michael says that mood is a dirty four letter word.
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed., May 10
Good morning! We are overcast and somewhat drizzly here today. I’m going to have to go help at the rental a bit today… not my idea of fun and games, but oh well… I ordered from Connecting Threads and also ordered a dress for the wedding in September, so guess I need to earn my keep.
So glad that Irish has family with her! Laughter is indeed the best medicine! That’s true that it’s harder for Irish to adjust.
I think I must have added about a cup of Borax to the tank of my carpet shampooer. I have a Hoover, and it’s about a gallon--Same with the vinegar in the rinse. I don’t worry too much about testing a spot… some of the carpets should have been replaced but I managed to bring them back to new life. I’m surprised at how amazing it does look!
I bet my sister will get mom a corsage. I’m thrilled she got talked into going.
No crazy calf stories today! It’s been pretty quiet the last 24 hours! That’s a good thing!!! Blackie is doing super well! Her tail wags when she’s drinking her milk (still sucking on my fingers in the bucket!) and she even eats some calf starter feed and even grass and hay! I’m so happy! Lint is thriving as well. They still hang together all over the yard area and into the blackberries, around the pond, under the bushes… I never know where I’ll find them.
Tina—who knew you’d be more excited than the kids to have school be out! LOL!
Jana—I remember your trees falling as well.
Mary—my late DH and I moved to a new development where we were the first house in our end of the cul-de-sac. Over the years, there was construction of roads, curbs, utilities and houses. The power was always going off whether by accidental cutting of the lines or planned installations. I hear you with the dust and noise!
Dinner here… hummmmmmm… I think I can find a few leftovers for myself and can throw together something for DH. How’s that for vague? It’s how I’m thinking right now until I open the refrigerator.
Bon appétit!

Good morning
Thanks for the update on Irish, Mary. There you go again hogging all that nice weather, I think you need to learn how to share better
Jana, how awesome to put a basketball court in their basement! I hope your outing is uneventful.
Chickie, I'll give Holly your recipe for carpets. She's planning on replacing all or most of thecarpet with lamenant flooring but I'm thinking that's gonna have to wait till next year's tax refund because she's needing $8600 for closing and I'm hoping she had it all as we can't help her out at all.
I'm still under the weather, the cough is killing me and making me exhausted. I put on a huge crock pot of veggie beef soup this morning so I don't have to worry about cooking for a few days

Hi pals, yes my physical went great. One more Appt in June for eye, because of being diebetic, family doctor insists that I have eyes checked and dilated each year.
Today we are getting pontoon launched and in our slip.
Don't know what to do yet for eats. Had smoked sausage last night, might have enough leftover.

Home and very uneventful. My brother has such dementia that he had no idea who i was. We knew he was having problems, but not to that extent. So sad to see. All my nieces and nephew were happy to see me. Lots of hugs from them.
Just thought i let you know i was safe.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed., May 10
Hello, it is afternoon again here. I got out early for a a walk, when it was cool and breezy. Then worked til noon in the backyard. I had trimmed all the outside edges of the Asian Jasmine, now I have to trim the circles around the rose bushes and trees that are in the ground cover. In the process I flushed 3 more gr*****oppers out, 1 huge one and 2 midsize. that makes 6 this week. They are taking a toll on my little lemon tree, in spite of me catching them. I have learned where to spray water in my yard to flush them out. Good thing they are so stupid and just sit there, easy to catch.
The tomatoes are growing like weeds and there are little cherry tomatoes already. Our best time is in June, then when it reaches 90 degrees and stays hot at night too, the tomatoes stop flowering. So our season is short and early. Looks like it will be a good year. Found a gr*****opper on them too.
I have been re-watching an episode of Game of Thrones every day for lunch and soon I will be caught up and ready for the season opener in July. I also re-read all the books, although the TV shows have really veered away from the books. Can hardly wait for Outlander to start again too. Anyone else a fan of these two shows?
Not much happening with my quilting. I am trying to work on my Jinny Beyer but it is slow and frustrating, finish a Garden Twist binding and work on another BFF quilt. But stuff keeps happening and I have to attend to it and wind up not quilting.
Tonight's dinner will be (according to DH's posted list) oven baked chicken, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. DH requested chocolate pudding so I did make some for him. I put some of the pudding in popsicle makers to see if they would make something nice and cold for summers.
Enjoy the rest of the day....prayers for those in need.
