SUNDAY, April 23rd
Good morning!
We have our trailer all cleaned up, the laundry is done, and we are ready for our next adventure - which Bill has already booked. Two nights at Fort Worden State Park along the Straits on the northern edge of the Olympic Peninsula. May 21-23. It used to be a military installation and has a lot of WWII stuff there. Also, it's where they filmed the movie, "An Officer and a Gentleman".
BECCA - here, Rhodies bloom from March through June, depending on the species. And we have them all, so something will be blooming now well into summer. I love them. The wild pink ones are our state flower. Yours, is, I believe, dogwood. Pink dogwood if I remember my embroidered state flower quilt correctly.
Dinner was lasagna last night and will be again tonite. I'm so thankful my hubby loves leftovers! (as long as he liked the firstovers! lol!)
Hope your supper will be just as tasty!

Good morning!
Mary - it's good to be caught up and ahead of everything! Michael is good about leftovers too, even if they at first weren't his favorite. One of my mom's favorite to do was a ride through Golden Gate park in the spring to see the rhodies in bloom. They were one of her favorite flowers. I would get to see the buffalo herd and ride the merry go round down at the beach!
Dinner is a rack of ribs i found when i did my inventory.
I am also going to work on Michael's quilt.
Enjoy the beautiful day!

Good morning,
I've been catching up with you girls by reading past dinner posts. You all are the real housewives of QIAD. LOL.
It's good to see the stones have passed, the calves have been fed, the hooligans are still up to mischief and neighbors are being helped. Thrilled the twins are both home and hope the door knob has been changed and there is a key. No more roof climbing for you missy.
Looking forward to reading that new mystery but not sure which title I would pick. All three are great.
I've been a bit under the weather (wonder why they call it that?) so haven't been eating much. I am thinking I'd like Jerry to fix hamburgers, spinach and maybe some mac & cheese. Doesn't sound as great as Tina's chicken and chili dinner she mentioned a few days back
Mary, glad you're home safe and you were able to park in your driveway without any commotion.
Jana, ribs sound woenderful. Love that Ethan wanted salad and cob corn for dinner the other night, made me smile.
You girls have a fun day,
Chriss

Re: SUNDAY, April 23rd
Good early afternoon from sunny, but still chilly, SW. Pa....Was hoping for just a bit warmer but that will come, I'm sure....
Mary, you are like a speed demon or as I told Chickie one time, that little pink bunny....Wish I had half your energy....Was so glad to hear all was calm next door when you got home, sure hope it continues...Jim was always good with leftovers, Jim was always good with almost everything I put in front of him...I think, when he was growing up, they were taught, sit at the table, eat what was cooked and that was it...No real talking, just eating and if you didn't like what was on the table, oh well! But, his mother was a very good cook so they sure didn't go hungry...Now, he tries to get out of eating and will say, he'd already eaten which I know he hadn't....Wish I could give up food so easily...The hips would surely appreciate it, lol...
Chriss, so glad to see you pull up a chair and sit with us for awhile...I do check on you often and make sure you're trying to behave yourself, you see the word, trying! Sure hate to hear you're not feeling up to par....Could it be you've just been running yourself ragged and just need to take it easy, which is the doctor's orders for today (didn't know I had a degree, did you?)...
Becca, When you write about your area, I try to vision all the plants and those flowering trees and bushes...Nothing prettier than nature, especially this time of year...We have the rodies up in the mountains and they are gorgeous..Also have mountain laurel that are special..Years ago, we had a pink dogwood that would be hit by lightening every time we had a storm and finally, we ended up with a nub....I loved that tree...Now we have this flowering crab apple that is now "raining" pink all over the yard and will produce millions of tiny apples for the deer...Hope you enjoy your day even if it's raining....
Not sure what might be on our schedule for today but am waiting for Terry to get here...it's amazing what can get accomplished when you have that extra hand..The neighbor stopped over last night and told us, his insurance will take care of the tree damage and he'll pay the deductible because he didn't want us to be burdened...I think I'm either going to call our insurance people or at least offer him 1/2 his deductible...Still not sure if that darn tree is on our property or the road....We'll see....
As for dinner, I'm hoping for burgers on the grill and I'm also hoping Terry will be the chef....I can rustle up a salad and baked beans or make potato salad, so again, we'll see.....
You all have a great day........
Happy eating.............
Chriss, please come back soon, we'll keep the chair ready......

Re: SUNDAY, April 23rd
Good evening! I’ve missed you a couple of days. Yesterday was crazy busy as Saturdays seem to take on a life of their own. Mom was doing well, and we had lunch together before I left for groceries. I came home and fed the calves, took care of DS3’s dogs, put groceries away that I hadn’t done earlier (perishables), checked calves… lots of busy! We had naughty stuff for supper, so not mentioning…
Today was another busy one… laundry, floors, cooking (pancakes for DH for brunch, then hamburgers with grilled onions and mushrooms and cheese with French fries on the side). DH needed to finish mowing in town (he broke a blade when we were there earlier this week), so I had him drop me by Mom’s for a quick visit. (My sister and BIL are out of town, so I went to check on her and give her some company.) Mom got a kick out of me wearing my overalls.
Pocket Lint and Blackie were out of their pen all day today. I didn’t think we would ever get Blackie “home”. They were out in the wild blackberries napping and exploring. Lint came home and wanted food, but Blackie was happy sleeping in the sun. Finally after much coaxing—had to use a bucket of milk and sucking on my fingers as we walked—she made it home. I had let them out so we could put more straw down in their pen and let it get some sun and air after all the rain—housekeeping for the calves!
Today was a perfect day! No wind, 68 degrees and SUNNY! I could live like this every day! We don’t have many rhodies here, but the azaleas have been beautiful! I have neither, but there were several amazing displays of azaleas in town. I planted some begonias today in some of my pots.
I stopped in for just a few minutes… need to go clean up the kitchen and get ready for feeding time at the zoo (or for the calves). It’s going to be dark tonight since they ate late this afternoon. I’ll try to make it here earlier tomorrow. Thank you for your kind words about Tasha! She’s transitioning from a little girl into a young lady. Hard to believe how time marches on!
Tomorrow... I really hope to get one of my projects finished and get started on another! I'll also be taking care of Ava, Choc and Maggie...
Good night!
