Supper club - Wednesday April. 19

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Apr 19, 2017 3:09 am

Good morning!

the birds seem to be having a convention outside our trailer this morning. I wonder if they all know what each other is saying.

I have good news!! The lantern bug isn't here! It apparently doesn't like our climate. Whew!! But we stocked up anyway just in case a new bug comes to town. šŸ˜‰

Irish-if this homemaker gig doesn't work out for you, you could always find work as a second story woman! Didn't you have to climb a ladder to get in the bathroom window sometime back?

Chickie - I think Irish is right and your hunters are really coming for the food! On the table, not out in the woods! Lint is really a character isn't she. Blackie seems more subdued. How is Lint's twin doing?

Izzy- homemade noodles?? I'm in!!!

Jana- wow! Glad there were no serious results from your flat tire. Of course, bill, having been talking tires for the past four weeks with a friend at home who still can't make up his mind, wants to know what kind of tires you have.

Becca - is Gabriel still on track to come home this weekend? I suppose we dont get to know gender of next set of twins for a while yet. I am a very curious person by nature and not patient. LOL!

Tina- I'm almost afraid to ask how you are feeling. Any news on the stone front? I've never had a stone but my SIL has. She's also had three kids and she agrees with Irish-it's worse than labor. Though I don't know how Comforting that thought is!

We are wined out. Had enough. So yesterday we drove all over to track down an LQS and finally located it. Closed for vacation! We found a thrift store and all I could find to buy was a dessert cookbook. Today we're going to a RR museum and another thrift store and probably another LQS. And then out for early supper. Too chilly to sit out in the evening so we've been staying in and playing cards. Tomorrow we'll be heading home. We are about a week early for asparagus season but I'm hoping there might be some early cuttings available at one of the many produce stands here to buy to take home for pickling and freezing.

How are dinner plans coming along at your house?

Good morning! Yesterday afternoon, I was out in the yard for a break with a bottle of water and a book. DH came over and sat in the swing with me. Blackie was sleeping on the hay in the pen, and Lint was wandering around acting like she might want to try some grazing. So… DH said to let Lint out in the yard. I went over and opened the gate, and out she came. We had such fun just watching her kick up her heels and run all around the yard and around the house. She acted like she wanted Tinker Bell to play (didn’t happen), and she just explored her environment mostly at full tilt. She even peeked around the swing at us like she might have been teasing us. Then, DH needed to make a town run… I couldn’t get Lint to go back inside her pen. DH said to let her stay out… I was aghast, but the Hooligans and I piled in the car (Road Trip! For the Hooligans) after leaving the gate open to the pen. Sure enough, when we returned, both calves were in the pen. Lint was apparently tired from her exercise and wandered back in her safe zone for a nap.

Yesterday’s trip to town was for a different set of mower blades. We went to mow and finished one yard, but on the second one, DH ran over something and broke the blade on the rider mower. We stopped at Sears for new ones, but the guy had no idea what we needed, and of course it was the wrong set. That was the reason for the second trip to town. So, we still have yards to mow. Today is going to be warm (81), windy and high allergy alert. The oak trees are full of pollen laden catkins, and they are making me miserable.

I’m going to clean floors today, then I plan to open my sewing room door and peek in… We are taking DGS and DGDIL to dinner tonight, so no cooking!

Mary—You think that’s why the hunters come? I think you may be right. They sure like brunches at my house! They even place orders like a diner! Too funny!

Blackie is still not as rambunctious as Lint, but I’m not sure I could handle two Lints! Lint’s sister is doing just fine with Mama and the rest of the calves. Today after ā€œbreakfastā€, Lint and Blackie were licking each others faces to get the stray formula. They are really comical. They both have razor sharp teeth and are not afraid to use them! Blackie is starting to butt more, too. I just wish Lint would remember that she really does know how to drink from a bucket and doesn’t need my fingers in the bottom to help her. Blackie sorta gets the idea, but if I remove my fingers her head pops up and she seems to have no idea what to do. Blackie is at least a week and a half younger than Lint, so perhaps she’s just coming around in her development. I also think she had more trouble early than Lint.

Becca—hope Gabriel is doing well! I’m sure Anniston is happy at home. (Sorry to butcher the spellings!)

This post is really rambling… I’m having trouble organizing my thoughts and myself today for some reason… allergy fog? Hope everyone has a great day! No tire blow outs, no second story jobs, no bad wine… ENJOY!

Good morning!

Another day here in Paradise! If i lived slightly north, that would be extra true - my in laws lived in a town named Paradise.

Mary - we used to always have Michelin tires on the cars, but because of tread design, Michael switched over to Goodyear. The tread design was a concern with driving in the snow. We had a bad wreck, put the car on its roof, many years ago, because of snow getting trapped in the tread pattern. Michael researched treads and this set of Goodyear had what he wanted. See, the answers you get, when Bill wants to know! LOL Enjoy the musuem today. It's in a old Northern Pacific Depot.

Chickie - never a dull moment on the farm with Blackie, Lint and the Hooligans! I am guessing that Lint has gain vision, Blackie too?

Becca - good day to have your little ones visit! So much fun!

Tina - hope you are having a great day - you deserve it!

Irish - oh, the escapades that you get into! No more roofs!

Oh, dinner - did stroganoff soup last night using turkey burger, came out good. So i stil have part of the package of turkey burger to use up, so tacos or nachos will be on the plates at my house.

Enjoy,
Jana

Yes, both calves now have clear eyes, and seem to be seeing well. Now Blackie turns her head and "follows" the dogs' movements. I don't know if all newborn calves have cloudy eyes and limited sight, or just these little ones. The mama cows won't let us close enough to their newborns to do any checking. Thank you for asking!

I think my kidney stone is gone! No more pain! I agree, I'd rather have 10 kids with no pain medication than have these stones, no pain like it that I've ever had. Irish I feel for you having them.
Becca, that's great news about Gabriel :)
I started having stones a few years ago and have been hospitalized a few times with them. The last one that I actually passed in the hospital was the size of a pencil eraser, I wondered if I was going to live through that one.
Sorry I've been getting on so late lately, I've been really tired, Frankie says it's from the pain I've been in, so I'm looking forward to getting some energy back now.
Frankie has a Dr's appointment Friday, he's been itching all over for about 3 weeks now and we've tried changing his soap, washing everything again, allergy pills and nothing seems to help, I hope it's nothing serious.
Goodnight
Tina
