Supper club Tuesday, April 18

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Apr 18, 2017 3:39 am

Good morning!

We had such a nice day yesterday and took Irish's advice and stocked up before the the lantern bugs find us!! Played cards (Skipbo) after supper as it was to chilly for sitting out. Today, more wineries, but closer in town. We put on some miles yesterday. I'm hoping we can mix it up with a thrift shop and maybe even find a quilt shop.

Irish, if I said salt caused stones, I didn't mean to. Excessive calcium is what it was supposed to say. And not all stones. So you think you had stones too? Standing in solidarity with Tina? Your friendship knows no boundaries does it. Glad you are feeling better. That was a scary story about you having to climb a ladder to get in a second-story window. Maybe a second key hidden somewhere would be a good idea. You could be right about Vicki's family wanting us to address the issue. I do know they wouldn't mind if we did! They are taking her to doctor next week. We hope something happens then. But next serious event we will do something. And let them know before we do it. And our next outing with the trailer, we plan to leave on a Sunday when they have her out to lunch. We will let them know that is our plan so they will keep her out longer hopefully.

Becca you day with your son sounds so nice. Does he live far from you? Mine is about an hour from us and we don't see him very often. What nice neighbors you have to bring treats!

Eva, nice to have you join us. You English is way better than my German! You will find even more sewing chatter in the sew-in section of this forum. Check it all out and enjoy!!

Tina, bill's family did same thing to me at thanksgiving one year when I was fresh post-op from gall bladder surgery. His step dad had died 4 weeks before so I thought we should rally the family. Then his mom, brother, SIL, and all their family were no shows. I was so tired, hurting, and needed three days to recuperate. So I really feel for you!! How is your stone situation?

Chickie, are you recovered yet? Did you get to do another ride-along to pick up Doyal's gun yesterday?

Jana, was your Easter gathering at your house? Your place us sort of the mothership for your clan. How are the kids liking their new home? Are they pretty much settled?

I am going to put some chili into the crockpot for tonight. I forgot the cornbread so we will stop at the store sometime today too. I think bill will cook that in his cast iron Dutch oven. And I'll put out a tray of raw veggies too, and some corn chips. There is still chocolate cake for afters though I think we are all growing weary of that.

What's the supper story at your house?

Good morning,

We have leftover caesar salads from last night's eventful outing! After we finished dinner, we were heading home in the Solara. She needed some exercise and we are trying to use her more. Well, something in the road, just jumped up and bit a hole in the rear tire! We heard the thump, and didn't see anything, so continued on for a brief time. The car was handling weird and about the same instant, we figured out we had a flat tire. We were on a fast road with no place to safely pull off, so we nursed it up the hill to the other busy road, and it has a wide dirt shoulder. Michael confirmed the flat - it was really flat! So i broke out the tools to fix it - a cell phone and AAA card. LOL Called and it was about a hour wait, so then called Matt and his mighty truck named Enoch. He came of course. In the mean time, AAA called back and because the major, dangerous road we were on, shortened the time to about 20 minutes. AAA got there ahead of Matt. We thought that there might be a problem with the front tire as well, but it was just low. So the very nice young man, changed the tire and checked and filled all the others. Matt followed us home to make sure we got there, so now a trip to the tire shop. These are brand new tires, just bought last summer.

The kids are settled and finally got the last of the boxes unpacked and returned Matt's utility trailer this week.

Ethan was here yesterday and supervised the lawn mowing. He also negotiated several tractor rides. I am not the loved one, when Grandpa has the tractor out! LOL

Well, time to get going,
Enjoy! Be well and ssfe!

Good morning! I’m having such a time getting here, but believe me we are not going hungry! I cooked my heart out starting Saturday for the brunch on Sunday, and it was a success. I even have a few leftovers for brunches for DH and I a few days this week. Of course, they were diminished somewhat when the hunters came by claiming to be starving yesterday morning. They are back to Florida now, and the wild turkey population was unharmed by them this weekend.

Pocket Lint and Blackie are still as entertaining as ever. Last evening, PL pushed out of the pen as I came in, so I let her run around the yard while I fed Blackie from her bucket. PL ran all around kicking up her heels—around the house, out to the watermelon patch, back around and around. She tried to get the dogs to play, but they didn’t buy the new kid on the block although Boomer went after her and (sort of) herded her back to within my eyesight. Pretty soon, the sound of Blackie’s slurping in her bucket brought PL back in the pen to her bucket. They still need fingers to help them in the bucket most of the time. And, they still sling milk everywhere (mainly on me), want to chew on any available flesh, push and shove. Think 60 to 100 pound cats twining themselves around your legs and trying to keep your balance… We had rain Sunday morning, so the pen is a little (ha!) slick which adds to the interest in trying to keep my balance…

We went again yesterday to Nashville, MO to pick up DH’s rifle. The silly Hooligans love those road trips even though they do not get to set foot outside of the vehicle! Such funny things…! They got to go through the bank drive in and receive their personal withdrawals from the friendly teller. When they aren’t with us, they ask about the Hooligans and even send treats home with us—gotta love small town banks!

Eva—welcome to the table here! Have you also tried Sew In for the daily chat? How exciting to hear you are a new quilter! I think quilting is gaining much interest in Germany, as there are several fabric and quilt designers from there. Billizzy here on the forum speaks some German and enjoys practicing her mother’s language. I’m sure she would enjoy corresponding with you, too.

Mary—I have got to write down the specifics of the postcards… what a fun project!!!

Irish—Oh, your adventures are as crazy as mine… except yours are more dangerous! I’m not sure I would try to climb in a second story window!!! OMG! So glad you and Jim are safe!!! Good advice to buy wine while it’s available!!! That would be a tragedy if the world runs out of wine!!!

Tina—you would not have leftovers if I were eating at your table!!! Hope you had a fun day of last vacation day! I know how tired you must be!!! My DDIL’s are great to help clean up the kitchen after the big brunch. I try to keep as much as possible cleaned as I cook, but there is always the serving containers—crock pots, electric skillet, casserole dishes… Those girls are wonderful!

I’ve been having such a time getting here with all the interruptions and just not enough time in my days. I’m hanging laundry outside today. It’s overcast and was foggy earlier, but I don’t think rain is in the forecast. I’m supposed to go help DH mow three yards in town today, and my floors really need some major attention as always. I hope to find my sewing room… tomorrow???

Jana—it’s harrowing to have vehicle difficulties on a busy road! Your tools are similar to mine… cell phone to call DH or any of the sons or DSIL depending where I am. Not exactly the outing you planned… Good to hear you are all safe!

I have another load of laundry to get out… thankfully, it’s the last one for today. Need to pay some bills, too. Always something to catch my attention…

Dinner tonight… I really hope I have enough leftovers from previous evenings. I can supplement with salads. If I go mow, feed calves, bring laundry in… I will be in no mood to cook! Today is DS3’s 40th birthday. It’s taco Tuesday at the corner bar and grill, so maybe everyone will meet there… I hope we get a call…

Bon appétit! Stay safe everyone!

Good afternoon from another warm and sunny day in Sw. Pa...Almost makes a person want to do something but when that person is lazy such as me, it's hard to get moving, lol....Thank goodness the house is still semi clean from Easter.....

Mary, It had to be me that mixed up the salt for the calcium.. And when I thought I might have to give up my chips, I almost had a heart attack, thank goodness it's calcium...My DS, frequently gets kidney stones and I kept telling her it was the Pepsi...But, I'm hoping and praying I never, ever get another...Having 5 kids was a breeze compared to that....
Also glad to hear you stocked up on the "grape juice"...Really would love to have a taste of that $48.00 stuff...Kathy and Tim go to a wine bar every Wed. night and sample the ware...When we were there, they had told them in advance that Jim liked beer and they had a couple of different beers for him to sample, but he said, he'll stick with his Bud.....And did I tell you, when we were in Napa, my DS thought a "Flight" was a trip in a helicopter over the vineyard...She was so disappointed, but that's my sister...(Just like in those Anne George books)....
The door that had gotten locked has never had a key or at least not while we've lived here so I'm going to have Terry put on a new knob...I haven't seen or heard any reports about a crazy old lady breaking into a house so I guess I'm safe, black and blue but safe....

Jana, boy, you just never when you're going to have an adventure, do you? But, that's not a good thing but thank goodness it worked out safely.....Isn't it funny how the "love" quickly switches from Gram to Pap, depending on the situation....

Chickie, the excitement never ends at your house, does it? You know, we know have the image of 2 very large fur babies vying for your attention... I honestly think the Florida visitors come for your cooking but use the hunting as an excuse...They know a good thing when they find it!

Tina, I hope and pray you are feeling better...My heart hurts when I think of anyone going through that pain...Maybe you could try crawling through a window, I think that's what jarred my loose....

As for me doing anything today, not gonna happen...Other than a little laundry and dishes, that's it...I was all set on doing the front porch and then got a phone call from a friend I hadn't talked to for some time..Darn, it took a long time for us to get caught up and solve the problems of the world...

As for our dinner, left overs are gone so I'm going to do a small tray of lasagna....Didn't get it made last week so this is it...I have some good Italian bread and salad stuff so we're good to go....

Have a good rest of the day...

Happy eating.................
