SUPPER CLUB - Friday, April 7

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Apr 07, 2017 3:12 am

Good Morning!

Yesterday was all about shopping and since I was in Tacoma anyway I hit Joann's, LQS, Goodwill, Kohl's, and grocery store. I wanted to stop at Hobby Lobby, too, but missed the turn which put me on the freeway on-ramp so I crossed that off my list. When I got home I sewed for a few hours before fixing dinner. And then I got a lot done on my counted cross-stitch during TV.

Today will be, hopefully, finishing up a quilt top and getting it onto the LA. When I finish this project, there will be some major uglies to do before letting myself start another one. I've promised myself. And the next project might be a baby quilt for my neice's DD who is having a girl.

BECCA - I hope you are done with storms for a while! Will Annistyn go home this weekend? Gabriel will do fine. He just needs a little extra special attention. you know how men are! He's just practicing for his grown-up life! But seriously, almost every baby out there that was born preemie has these episodes and they just need a bit of stim - touching their backs while they sleep usually does it. He will outgrow it soon.

JANA - you are looking for a tablesaw and Bill has one he has been trying to get rid of one for years. It's a big one but sometimes can saw with a bit of a 'wow' if he's not careful. It belonged to my LDH#2, Roy, who was a contractor. Your seasonal wall-hanging sounds cute. Isn't it fun to finally get to a project that's been waiting on your list for a long time!

TINA - glad Holly is waiting for the right home. Sound like she knows what she wants. As for your folks, you could talk to the owners of the property they are on now and slip them a couple twenties to evict them. And another twenty to buy their silence. Just sayin' . . . there are more ways to approach a problem than the obvious one. ;o) Your lava cakes sound delicious. Usually, when I make a new recipe it comes out perfectly the first time and it's all downhill from there! I can never pull it off just right again.

IRISH - I think we'll all be relieved when Terry gets home and you have him for back-up! I can't wait for him to get there! I'm laughing at the undie story you quoted from Chriss. Chriss is an absolute hoot! I've been to her house several times over the past 8 years as we travel south. (or north) and she always cracks me up! Now MY sister says you can wear your undies frontwards and backwards and then turn them inside out and do the same again. And then if you throw them against the wall and they stick, you know they are 'done'. My sister is a hoot, too, and I give her undies for birthday gifts!

VELDA - dancing is so much better than cooking!!

Ahhh.. here we are again - when I have to come up with some idea of dinner. I think grilling is out as we're to have a day of rain and 40 mph winds. I'm guessing chicken will be the star tonite. And here, when I say chicken, it's ALWAYS chicken breasts. Neither of us care for the dark meat on a chicken or turkey. It might be chicken noodle casserole, or chicken & rice, or chicken & dumplings. maybe chicken friccasie. (I can't spell it, but I can make it!) But you get the idea - we're having chicken for dinner!

What's the supper story at your house?

Good morning! (written yesterday) We have FROST advisory for tonight! Isn’t that crazy! It was almost 90 degrees in February. I don’t plant anything until after April 15, which is supposed to be the last frost date. Usually it’s May before I get to gardening. The early birds may be replanting unless they can cover everything well.

Today I’m making a birthday cake for DH’s sister’s 70th birthday. DH is taking it tomorrow to their gathering and won’t be back until Sunday. He was incredulous that I wasn’t going… Duh! Calves, dogs... I would go crazy sitting around for that long!

Mary—My dogs would be happy with all the rodents, too… Tinker Bell must have been a cat in her former life. Boomer is a bigger game hunter and would certainly deter anything from coming in your yard. Tinker Bell had the audacity to bring a dead mouse into my truck the other day... and leave it!!! Thankfully I saw it come in and looked for it afterwards before it could develop an aroma... can you imagine that after several days if I didn't drive...

Becca—so sorry to hear little Gabriel is still not thriving. He’s just a little slower than Anistyn. Sometimes it just takes a little longer to get used to life outside. He will be home soon!

Tina—My ISBS India blocks are out for delivery to you today.

DH and I go around the yard and pick flowers for Memorial Day, then we go put small nosegays or single flowers on all the graves. We have a bunch of cemeteries in several towns. Most require removal in a few days, so we don’t have to check back with the fresh flowers. Our DS1 makes the prettiest small sprays using corn leaves and wheat heads. He uses nothing to tie them but the corn and wheat. They really look professional.

The above was all started yesterday before DH returned from coffee. I had the cake baked and cooling. With 6 dogs, two calves and DH duty, I just never returned to the computer. DH is leaving sometime today to go visit and won’t be back until Sunday. I hope to get some cleaning and putting away accomplished while he’s gone, but I’ll have all the dogs and calves to take care of, and visiting Mom and my friend tomorrow, so… still busy!!!

When I went out earlier to take care of Choc and Maggie, everything was covered with frost! The pond had a huge mist rising, and I had ice on my truck windows. When I went to feed Lint, even her water had ice crystals on it. So much for all the early plantings! Unless they were covered, they were stiff this morning.

My mom doesn’t use any cinnamon in her oatmeal raisin cookies. I was surprised to learn that. I even like cocoanut in mine with yellow raisins. Craisins are good in everything.

Mary—I think Eleanor has a better shape than I do. I’m just a blue dough girl in my overalls, not a glamorous Rosie the Riveter! All my babies like their hugs!

Irish—Mom has pictures of me wearing my little halter and leash when I was a toddler. We lived in the heart of San Francisco, and it probably saved my life and Mom’s sanity. When I had one for my DD, everyone thought it was cruel. I thought it gave her more freedom and didn’t pull her arms out of socket trying to hang on to my hand. Funny how different people see things. Mother Nature sure played a trick on us here last night. Maybe we should look for a man for her! Oh, that means Terry will be nearby—that’s wonderful for you and for Jim!!!

Vel—know you had fun dancing last night!

Tina—that’s a great idea about the mobile home in Holly’s name! Ugh… just read your post… We looked at some before we built our cabin on the pond. There are a lot of different levels of quality under the flash and sparkle of the display models. Need to shop around. Good luck to her!!!

Jana—love your wall hanging project! I saw something similar by Kansas Troubles, but I don’t have the patterns. Chinese is always welcome for me! We had it Tuesday evening on the way to Audubon meeting.

Becca—hope your storms are over! I sure hope ours are finished, too! Blackie will join Pocket Lint in the pen when the weather conditions are better here. That will be a sight of me trying to feed one or both at a time…

Mary—I see you back here today… You had a busy run yesterday and still had time to sew!!! Amazing!!! I have got to get some projects finished here, too! At our house, DH likes dark meat, and I like light meat. Your undies crack me up!!!

Found out yesterday that Hunter Mike and a friend are returning Easter weekend to hunt turkeys and they want to stay with us! That means… my sewing room!!! Ugh. I now have to clean it up and put everything away and get out the trundle from the day bed. They will have cramped quarters, and next time they may decide on a motel. DH says they want my food! I’m sure that’s probably correct. I have absolutely no idea if Easter will be brunch here, dinner here or dinner at one of the son’s and DDIL’s…

Dinner tonight… by myself!!! Well, somewhat… six little eyes will be watching me. Salad. I think that will be perfect. It will be after chores probably. The Hooligans will have to wait for some treats while I have Romaine.

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

Mary - we have a tablesaw. It is a moveable table to catch and handle the big, unwieldy pieces of wood that needs to be cut that he is looking for. Michael has drawn the plans for it, but was hoping not to have to build one. I just reminded him of a very good place up in Salt Lake. That may be our traipse today.

Chickie - my Daniel has alwsys said, look for where all the trucks are parked to know if it is a good place to eat - the trucks are at your house! Enjoy the quiet time sewing!

Dinner - since we are heading off today, i will stop off at the store and gather some veggies and such. If we stop at Costco, it will be a banned treat that makes it way here.

Ethan may be here for a short time this morning. The farm is changing internet carriers and Sarah is overseeing to make sure the store's transactions go uninterrupted.

Cold and dreary here yoday. The wind howled all night long and we have a huge storm moving in, sometime tomorrow.

Enjoy,
Jana

Hello everyone,Sunny but still cold. After our 70s & a few 80s it hurts. The trees are budding out & dogwoods blooming.People here call this dogwood Winter. Then we have blackberry Winter.

Maryz Your undies story cracked me up.I just had a venture buying a new bra,Tried a new style after many years of Balis.Well took it back & bought my old style.Cant teach an old dog new tricks.Your Sister must be a hoot. All that shopping & you still got to sew.But that was probably relaxing.

Chickie Enjoy your free time. Not many times that happens. Now I know the Holligans are there but they aren't demanding.Set a tent up in yard & let the guests rough it.Wouldnt expect they want much amenities.

Irish We are all anxious for Terry to be with you.Not many weeks left. The halter idea would be safer but sure it would be a hard decision to make.Prayers for you both.

Tina Donhope DD finds a great Home.Glad she won't just settle for one.

We have chicken pie left. And slaw. Will add some veggie. And DH found the bakery.

Good afternoon from a very cold, windy, SW. Pa...Someone better find that man for Mother Nature, quick!
AND today is our Pirate opener and it will be more like sitting at a Steeler football game...I think the high is only in the 30s with wind....Early this morning I looked out and we were having a blizzard but now, that's all gone...The weekend is to be gorgeous, more sun and warm temps......And to add insult to injury, I talked to my friend, Gin, in Florida and they've been in the high 80s, low 90s all week and the poor thing had to use her AC....

Mary, my heavens, you were certainly hitting all the good shops, weren't you? I think, that's what I kind of miss the most...Just getting in the car and shopping for things other than groceries...But, that too will happen....
I can imagine Chriss would have you in stitches most of the time...Visiting her is also on my bucket list...All the undies are freshly washed but I will remember your DS's advice for the next time...I wonder if our sisters could be related...You've seen mine, not a little gal but loves to joke...The last time we shopped near a Victoria Secret store, we had to go in and she asked to see those "little things with the string", in her size...Of course we had this young, tiny little bit of a gal who almost swallowed her tongue...
I'm with you and the chicken breasts, neither one of us likes the dark meat.....

Becca, Boy, you are so right about the drop in temps, hurting..But, it has to get better....I chuckled at your venture with the bra...I hate, hate buying those darn things and will look for the cheapest thing I can find and get mad if I have to pay more than $5.00, lol...I remember years ago, Jim said, for me to buy a bra was like a man with no hands buying gloves...And, you know, it's true! When I get home from shopping, shoes and bra are usually the 1st things off...Stay warm.....

Jana, I also had heard, look for trucks and you'll get good food....Enjoy your traipsing and be careful if that storm is headed your way....

Chickie, I'm thinking, you probably don't need the trucks parked in front of your house to indicate good food...DH knows what he's talking about when he says your "guests" want your food...You know that "bucket list" I talk about, well, you're also on it...One of these days.......I really, really think we need a picture of you in your "outfit" trying to feed both babies...Do they have any kind of 2 nipple bottles? I remember seeing a picture of bottles hooked along a fence and a row of babies lined up eating....As long as they don't try to both sit on your lap at the same time, lol....
Your free time doesn't sound too much like free time, but enjoy.....

Did finish some laundry this morning...I had taken the "cat house" apart and washed all the beds and blankets, thinking winter was over...Poor Jake was huddled up on one of the chairs but he was out of the wind and he's has a very heavy, long coat....
Not sure what else I'm going to get into....Jim is watching the game...Pirates are winning but right now, it doesn't look good, bases are loaded for the other side.....
For dinner, (Mary, don't look), neighbor Donna had gone and picked up "mac n cheese" from one of the local churches...So, Jim will be eating the "m n c", I'll have the halushkie (I can't spell either) and I have some fresh spinach for a salad (for me)....Still thinking of those oatmeal/raisin cookies but haven't gotten out to get oatmeal, so not sure what I might be baking...Maybe a good day for cinnamon rolls with raisins......

Have a great day, stay warm.....

Happy eating.................

I was here too early yesterday, before the table was set. So I didn't get back until Saturday AM.
I love all the pictures. Sooooo..... sweet. Beautiful quilts!!!

I cooked some yummy chili yesterday and boy, did it turn out good. Sometimes, I miss the mark and it is just so, so. But yesterday was a WINNER!!!

Tonight we will have it as our dinner before going dancing again.

It was fun to see all our friends from the Dance Land.
