SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Feb 27

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Feb 27, 2017 3:32 am

Good Morning!

Boy, did we have rain and cold yesterday! Not sure today is going to be any better. I will be bundling up for my morning walk today for sure!

We did go back to Cabela's in Oly and Bill bought his new stove. We have had a gas camp stove as long as we've had each other but it's starting to die. And he is tired of carrying a stove AND a grill in the RV because they each take a propane tank. So now he has one unit and it has legs to he doesn't need to take up picnic table space or haul a folding table out. He is happy - he got the one he wanted. It was almost $340 but he had $300 in credit built up on the Cabela's Visa just for using the card to pay on-line utility bills for the past two years. Plus we had a $20 coupon so our total outlay was about $16. He grilled burgers last night and they were awesome. Of course, that had nothing to do with the homemade buns I made . . .;o) We invited friends who are always up for spur of the moment socializing and had a nice evening.

JANA - I've always used our camp stove for canning, too. Sure saves on kitchen mess! So now it will be even easier. Warren and Lois's son is also an airline captain (and his wife is a flight attendant) so they would also bring things from around the world. and sometimes it trickled down to us. Great to have your own pipeline!

TINA - my very pregnant niece in Alaska got married (35 yrs ago) and my brother and all her 5 brothers wore guns in holsters on their hips and carried shotguns, rifles, whatever they could find at the wedding! Everyone laughed because this family takes nothing too seriously. Incidentally, the bride spent the wedding night in the hospital in false labor. But the point is, it's the marriage, not the wedding that's important. And after the baby comes, she will be amazed at how her thinking will change.

BECCA - hope you enjoyed your quiet day together yesterday. How are the baby quilts coming along?

CHICKIE - it's OK if you missed a day. I ate enough last night for the two of us! lol! Did you get into your sewing room yesterday?

Today I hope to FINALLY get a quilt onto the frame. It's been one thing after another. But I did get my Bernie home and set up again, so I do have back-up plans if the quilting thing gets put on the back burner again.

As for supper, we have leftover meatloaf and baked beans. And salad fixings, so I'm thinking we'll be OK.

What's the story for your supper tonite?

Good morning! We are warming today for a couple of days, then cooling again. This is such bizarre weather. The Hooligans and I will walk and take care of all the dogs—Ava, Choc and Maggie. They have missed the last couple of days.

Speaking of Hooligans… I could hardly get out of bed this morning. My back was stiff and hurting like crazy—I hate getting old! So, I put yoga clothes on and hit the mat on the floor in my sewing room. Odie laid on the daybed and watched, but Boomer came in and participated. It was too funny. I sometimes thought he was trying to do the stretches and poses with me—beside me, under me and on top of me. It definitely wasn’t a true workout with the two of us rolling around on the floor, but my back sure felt better and Boomer got lots of attention from me.

Mary—sounds like a fun dinner last evening! Love the wedding tale! At the rehearsal for DD’s wedding, Tim’s BIL was the minister, and he added a “Who giveth this man…” as a little joke. All Tim’s family stood up and waved hankies and loudly and laughingly said “we do, take him, please!” So funny!

Dinner tonight… steak and baked potato for DH. I will work on my piles of rice. For some reason, I made more rice last evening, and it was A LOT!!! I couldn’t believe what I did. I’m sure by evening I’ll think of additions to dinner, but for now… that’s it.

Bon appétit!

Good early afternoon from a kind of grey, sunless, chilly, Sw. Pa...I just have to keep reminding myself, this is the end of Feb. and we still have a tad of winter left, right...Just a tad, that's it!

Mary, Boy, you guys really got a deal at Cabela's. Kathy and DH use their card and like you, love to cash in the points...With mine, probably like so many others, I can get gift cards or they put it on my balance...I usually save the points and use them for gift cards at Christmas..I'm going to check for Judi's bun recipe and if not posted, will be needing you to pass it along...

Funny stories about weddings...Don't know if I had mentioned this before but at Cari's wedding the best man had forgotten to put the rings in his jacket...SO, when it came time, he felt his pocket, nothing, and very quickly ran out the door into the house where they had gotten dressed and retrieved the rings, ran back and stood in line as if nothing had happened...We, of course, knew and had a good chuckle..But, the look on Cari's face when he went running was priceless....At one of the wedding's I had done, the bride had little kids and of course she wanted them in the wedding (1 had to be at her side at all times)...During the Mass, both kids layed on the floor in front of the altar, played with the flowers and just had a great time....Finally, someone in the wedding party took them to the cry room....What a way to spoil a wedding and the look of disgust on the guests faces proved it....

Tina, thank you and some day, I'll get that hug in person...

Chickie, along with the vision of you being mobbed by slobbering cows, now it's you and Boomer doing yoga...You really do lead an exciting life!

Jana, always a perk knowing the pilot....One of the God Sons is a pilot but darn, now he flies private jets and we don't get to see him too much...Are you still buried in snow?

Well, today is a "not sure what" kind of day...Yesterday wasn't too good...Jim was not having a good day, so I ended up telling the kids not to come for breakfast...One very upsetting thing, I woke up to the smell of gas...Not sure when, but he had gotten up and turned on the stove in the kitchen but it didn't light...So, now, I've removed all the knobs on the stove and we won't have that again...And most of the day, he just went from 1 thing to another with no reason..So far this morning, it's been good and I'm praying it continues...I so want to get upstairs and sew....

As far as dinner, since we didn't have the waffles yesterday, I'm thinking maybe that might make the table tonight...Of course my menus are always subject to change...We did go to the bakery on Sat. and I brought home a bunch of snow balls..They are also 1 of my neighbor, Donna's favorites so I need to get them to her before Lent starts on Wed.

Happy eating..............

Good morning!

Mary - we could get the buddy passes from him, but since Michael hates to fly, i don't ask. He flies in his parents and siblings in for visits all the time. I now have their oldest daughter in my activity day girls.

Dinner was fabulous! I forgot, then took a bite and the memories of just how good that sauce is! There were three leftover enchiladas left and Michael staked his claim to those, under penalty death of any of us touching them! Tonight i will use more of the pulled pork for bbq sandwiches with ranch fries.

Aaron is doing well after his surgery. He says he eats ABC food, already been chewed. He is chopping up everything very fine for awhile longer. One tooth, the root had wrapped around tbe nerve, so it took a bit of finese to remove it. That is probably the most sore.

Their house is coming quickly now. The cabinetry is all in and the painting is done. Just the final electrical, plumbing and carpet for the interior. The exterior is tented and the stucco is being applied. I think the bug a boo will be the driveway cement. We are still hoping for the 10th to close.

Chickie - love them Hooligans! The only odd wedding story around here is when my oldest brother was married, my mom told them no alcohol- they listened, but someone on the brides side, spiked the punch - the wrong one - they spiked the kids punch and all the parents were wondering what was going on with the kids!

Becca - those quilts are going fast!

Enjoy!
Jana
