SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Feb 23rd
Good morning!
No rain again this morning! Yay! 34', but still, we're dry! Yesterday I actually got about 5 minutes of raking done in the yard. We have quite a mess going out there. All I need is some sunshine, a bottle of ibuprofen, and some oomph. Until I get all that gathered up, I'm going to be an inside girl!
Yesterday I cooked for 5 hours, visited with my brother, Al, for 4 hours, worked with house plants for 1 hour, and we were at our friends delivering/eating supper for 2 hours. Plus 5 minutes of 'yard work'! Oh, and I did 3 loads of laundry, too! A very full day! Today will be less full - one last load of wash and whatever else I decide to do. Bill finished my bookshelf over the head of the bed in the trailer so I get to move my books in now. I collect books like I collect fabric. Mostly all thrift shop books, but I have quite a collection and like to take some of them with me on the road.
TINA - you go, girl!! I'm so sorry your parents are giving you grief, but I so admire you for standing up like you did! And you are so right - it's their loss! you are a crown jewel in their lives and they don't appreciate you. You have better things to do with your time - like snuggle little necks! And what BECCA said is so true: "you can't help someone if they won't let you." You'll only frustrate yourself. I saw on FB last night you weren't feeling well. I hope it's a passing thing and nothing serious. and so sorry for your loss of a friend.
JANA - I wanna be one of 'your girls', too! Never mind that I am years older than you are! lol! I bet they love their time with you!
BECCA - I remember my mom had terrible neuralgia pain in her face/jaw. So if your dentist can't find anything, you just might be right! I guess there's no need for a second hystie, then. ;o)
IRISH - wow! Your note was so full yesterday! That Jake! The least he could do is leave a note so you wouldn't worry. And yay! you are getting your passport! Time to start lining up those ducks! I can't wait for your trip to happen!
CHICKIE - glad you are getting some nice flip-flop days. I've heard that phrase, "Planned Obsolescence". It stinks. Now they make mattresses, too, so they won't hold up for more than 8 years.
Our friends were very appreciative of supper being delivered last night. And insisted we share it with them, so I took enough for all of us to eat plus another meal for them. and we have enough here for us to have dinner again tonite. No cooking today! Wheee! So we'll be dining on swiss steak again with twice baked potatoes and salad.
I did the green beans a new way (for me, anyway). Saute'd bacon bits and diced onion and added them to the beans with S&P. Added a bit of olive oil and popped them into our friends' oven for about 35 minutes. They were great! and I don't even care for green beans that much.
What great ideas do you all have for tonite?

Mary, it's sounds like you had a very busy day and cooked for an army, especially with all the leftovers you had for your finds and you two! I thought we were going to have soup and grilled cheese the way I ended up feeling but we had to go to Wal-Mart for dog food and milk and OJ so we picked up a rotisserie chicken and Frankie made a huge salad so that was supper and will be our lunch today
I think I'll put soup on for supper. I'm thinking I have allergies so started my allergy medicine today. ... we'll see. Today is Kevin's 28th birthday. ... hard to believe my Baby boy is 28! Time goes by way too fast!

Tina You deserve much better treatment than you're given.Sure wish we could all gather around & have coffee together.Know you're in my prayers & thoughts.Get well soon.Allergies are the pits.

Good afternoon! Another warm day! I know now why I wore a pony tail for so long… the Kansas Wind! I’m now wearing a ball cap and lots of clippies. I hope my hair will grow out fast. I like the shorter look, but in the wind—oh, my! The Hooligans and I got back from taking Ava for a walk. We didn’t go see Choc and Maggie today. I think Maggie stayed the night with her mom, and Choc is at the vet for surgery—a tumor on her back leg. Hope it all goes well. Choc is 12. Maggie is 15.
Mary—mattresses… isn’t that the pits! Years ago I had a foam slab mattress that had a 20 year warranty and lasted MUCH longer than that. It was the best mattress I ever slept on! I’m not sure they are affordable now. Your dinner sounds like a lovely evening and worth all the time you spent—definitely for your friends!!!
Last night I made stuffed poblanos with my taco/chili/beans and cheese. They were delish! DH ate two of them sans the poblanos. I ate three poblanos and the filling for one. There’s one left. Tonight I’ll do the sliders on cibatta rolls. The beef wasn’t thawed last evening, so I didn’t offer that as a choice.
Becca—I had sinus problems in the upper jaw and facial area for several years. They never could get it under control. It cleared up when I moved to another town. It think it was triggered either by the house where I lived or where I worked—started when I moved there and took that job. You might eventually try an ENT specialist. Gotta love that Oragel! I used it too when I felt so bad. I love the Vicks! I also use it when I have sinus difficulties. Your stir fry sounds yummy, and I have those ingredients… decisions, decisions…
Tina—I never stop taking my generic Claratin. On my phone app, it shows allergy information in my area and it is here all winter. I stopped and thought I was getting a cold. Took it again and all cleared up. Happy birthday to Kevin! He’s so young!!! LOL!
I think I’ll try to get some stitches in… Bon appétit!

Good dinnertime!
Went to the freezer and grabbed the fixins for sweet and sour pork, with fried rice and pot stickers. I will cook in a few minutes.
My girls loved the muffins and they were great cookers - as Ethan puts it. They are now begging for my Cafe Rio salads recipe. It is a copycat from the restaurant here. Way too long for them to cook, but I will share it with them.
I am in good with DH - found a piece to a missing thingy that he had given up hope of ever finding! It has been missing for about two years and suddenly showed up under the big desk downstairs. Humm, what do i want? LOL
Enjoy,
Jana

Good Evening Everyone!
Tonight is leftovers from last night: Chicken with Mustard Sauce and mashed potatoes with an additional salad and green peas.
I had a very fun day today. I had lunch with one of the teachers I used to substitute for quite frequently. I want to volunteer in her classroom a little and help the students with their math. I graded a paper today for her that was a check on learning. There was a large group that did not understand how to graph. They need that skill!
Then I went to knitting. The store is being sold and the new owner was there. They are doing inventory on Saturday so they can sell to the new owner. I am so glad the store is being sold instead of closing.
Have a great day everyone!
Carol
