Supper club, Thursday, February 2

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Feb 02, 2017 3:13 am

Good morning, we are still in Yuma and parked and entire 2 feet from Interstate 10. Traffic ran all night. If we had realized where we would have to park we probably would have just had coffee with my brother-in-law and went on our way. Foolishly, we committed to, and paid for two nights.

Tina, so sorry to hear about your mom but perhaps this is fortuitous. She was really discharged far too early. Now maybe someone can talk to the hospital doctor and explain how things are. If you can't actually talk to the doctor face-to-face, you can write out your concerns and have the nurses put them in the front of her chart where he will see it when he makes rounds Prayers for her recovery

Irish, will hold good thoughts and prayers for Terry's job, whatever and wherever it may be. But between you and me, I hope it be's near you

Chickie, I am with you about the smell of some meat cooking. Usually when it is being reheated. Bill can't stand the smell of turkey carcass boiling on the stove so I never buy the whole Bird anymore. And turkey soup is no longer on our menu

Jana, you really got a lot of stuff done yesterday! Today you get to reword yourself with sewing!

Becca, you were pretty busy too!

Today we are going to the flea market for the morning. This afternoon we need to fuel the truck, get groceries, and do a couple loads of laundry. There is a jam session here at the RV park this afternoon and Bill wants to go with my brother-in-law. But I think I will hang with the laundry. No pun intended

I have no idea what supper will be. Maybe after I go grocery shopping this afternoon I will figure it out. I hope you are further along on your supper planned and I!

UHM, yes I guess I do need to eat supper tonight. I do not know what it will be. Need something quick as meeting tonight at church.

Any ideas?

Mary I have had that happen to us in the RV. I guess we should always check things out a bit more than we do.

Good morning! We are a bunch chillier here today. It’s a good day to stay in and sew… my sewing for today will be shortening the legs on 3 pair of overalls for DH.

When we lived in the little house after the fire before we moved out to the farm, we were about 2 blocks from HWY 400. In summer when we had the windows open, and the wind was in the south, we heard all the semi traffic. Seems like they were always driving on the “wubba-wubba-wubba” shoulders. I was just so not used to highway noise! Sometimes it was like they were right outside our windows and coming right in the bedroom. I can only imagine being that close to the interstate!!! Do you get any sleep?

I have to add lots of celery and onions to the turkey carcass when I boil it—also when we butchered chickens and I cooked them down for chicken and noodles—lots of seasonings, onions and celery. I also couldn’t stand to eat them for several days… or weeks… they needed to be in the freezer for awhile before I was ready to cook them again. Have I mentioned that if I didn’t live on a farm, I’d probably be a vegetarian… maybe vegan… although I do like butter…

I agree, Tina--write out your concerns and give them to the nurse to give to the doctor. If he's not consulting you directly, it's not violation of HIPPA, but they NEED TO KNOW what the heck is going on with her. If she won't tell them, and your dad is afraid to...

Tonight will be steak for DH, baked sweet potato for both of us, and salads.

Bon appétit!

Good morning :)
If she's still in the hospital Saturday when we go I'm going to talk to either the Dr or a nurse out two. I can't go through the week with watching the boys and I just get upset anyways, I chose to stay home and get hugs and kisses and happiness than be around mean and nastiness..... I'm probably heartless :(
I think tonight will be American :) a burger on the grill and salad. ... we'll see how the weather is, would like to eat outside :) the last 2 nights we didn't need our pellet stove on until about 5 each morning for a couple hours :)
Mary, you remember the bridge before coming into town? Not the one at the Holiday Inn but the one before it. ......a semi crashed into the center support yesterday and the highway was closed both directions until this morning. .... we're guessing that bridge is going to need to be replaced now. .... it's called the lost bridge because it belongs to the railroad and it's just there for them to cross over the highway to get to the tracks from our road. ... the RV park by it have been wanting off ramps put in for their business. ... maybe they'll get them now our maybe the railroad will just tear it down and not replace it, they have access right in town to the tracks. . We'll see what happens.

Hello everyone,no internet for 2 days here. Our service is lousy.

Irish Prayers for Terry & his decision.Sounds like he has his ducks lined up right.Know he will choose wisely. Those neighbors of yours sound like angels.Glad you have them.

Maryz I too wouldn't sleep if. Heard traffic. Its so quiet here, never hear anything but maybe a plane in early evening.

Tina Sure hope they get your mom taken care of.Your poor Dad needs an award. And you too.I agree tell the staff how she is.

Chickie DH here has a real problem smelling meat cook.I have to be very careful. Not being a meat eater I don't enjoy the odor either.

Valerie Hope someone's menu hits the spot for you.

I never got my beef stew cooked last wk so that's it for the day with rice. Becca

Good afternoon from a cold but very sunny, SW. Pa...As Chickie said, good day to stay inside and do something fun...

Oh Mary, today will be a long day is you didn't get much sleep last night..But, you'll probably sleep much better tonight....Many years ago, when Jim took me off the farm and moved me to this "big" city, our big house was not too far from the train tracks and of course back then, the trains ran a lot more than they do today...But, you know after a short time, I didn't even hear those trains...And now, if someone is visiting and remark, I'll say, what train? I'm with you, hoping Terry does come closer but at this point, whatever is to be will be....

Chickie, I'm pretty much the same way with most meats, not many I like aroma of it cooking, except when I make stew or a roast in the crock pot (with all the seasoning).....Oh boy, I hated butchering day when I lived on the farm, still have nightmares! I also agree with Mary...Someone needs to straighten out these doctors....Just not right!

Tina, don't you dare ever think you're one little big heartless! You of all people...You have done way more than your share, not only with the family but all you do for everyone else....Maybe the doctor could have some professional person talk to your Mom, she seems to need help..I imagine, she is scared and maybe is taking is out on anyone within striking distance...So sad...But, just know, we're all here for you and certainly keeping you and the family in my prayers.....

Well, today is, well not sure what kind of day...There's laundry, there's baking and some uglies...Darn, no sewing in there yet! If you'd see the kitchen, what a mess...I have 2 microwaves sitting on the counter, 1 for Terry to put in the trash when he comes...It's plugged in behind the stove and I'll be darned if I can get that stove out far enough to reach the cord...I hate having everything out of place....If you would have seen me lugging the new micro out of the car and up the steps to the kitchen, it really would have made, Funniest Videos, without a doubt...One of the "Frick and Frack" team just isn't able to help any more and it's amazing what you can do when you put your mind or behind to it.....

Yesterday, Jim had his "spot" taken care of and came home with a nice big patch...Thank goodness, doc just scrapped and burned, no stitches, this time....AND then Jim actually asked to stop at Arby's for roast beef sandwiches...That made my day.....

Today, it is going to be something with the chicken breast that I found in the freezer....Could be soup, could be chicken and rice, could be breaded...Oh the possibilities! And banana/nut bread for afters..................

Happy eating...............

Eagle Update!

To me, this is almost a miracle...The nest on the Mississippi River just welcomed it's 3rd egg........

Well it's way past dinner hour. We are now watching some shows we had recorded. I won't take long, cause I need the time to unwind.

We had dancing lessons this morning. Learning a few new couples dances or as they call it "trail dancing". It's hard for DH to remember all the steps, but I give him lots of credit for giving it a try. We talked another couple into joining us and that was fun.

Then tonight I made DH very happy with his "mac n cheese" supper. I tried a different coating mix and it really did turn out great. No strong taste in Swai. HEB had a small package with six fillets. I did three tonight and still have enough for another night.

I got my laundry all caught up this afternoon and now tomorrow can be a sewing day. I need to keep working on the quilt and get it finished.

I hope to see you all a bit earlier tomorrow.

Nighty-Night!!!

Hugs
