SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Jan 5th
Good Morning!
Yesterday was a nice day. Pretty out but chilly and breezy. So I had to find something to do inside. ;o) And I did. I have my Maypole blocks half finished. But I need a bit more of a couple fabrics, and also I forgot my applique sheet (that I will be needing for my next project) so it's off to Joann's today since they were kind enough to send some coupons to my phone. Turns out it's senior citizen day there! Later this afternoon, we will start picking up a lot of the stuff we have outside - lights, chairs, BBQ, tablecloth, Seahawks flag and more. Tomorrow is moving day when we have to move to the other campground while this one is closed for a week. We'll move back here Jan 14 but be a couple of sites further down if anyone comes looking for me.
VELDA - how nice that you are still able to work on your mission quilt projects while in TX! What pattern/colors are you using? I also have a personal rule that I sew from my stash for lottos. As it happened, I had a lot of reds and whites with me for other projects and a friend here had just given me a small tote of fabric scraps which contained just enough yellow for the L.C. centers. So I was set for this month. Teresa said next month will be green and yellow, I think.
CHICKIE - haha! IMAX theater for my cats! They would love it! Their whiskers would be twitching so hard their whole little bodies would be shaking! And I love your casual comment about finishing your first log cabin blocks and now you have less hair! lol! They aren't hard, but sometimes they can be a challenge, can't they. I always have to do at least some frogging. Hope you warm up soon! But if we are going down into the 20's here, you are surely going to be even colder than you are now!
TINA - a work day for you, isn't it? What are you working on now? You've had so many different projects passing through your machine lately that I'm afraid I've lost track.
JANA - so relieved Stu's surgery went so well. Will the plate be in there forever now or will they remove it in a year or so? When my DB#1 had a plate/screws in his hip he finally had them removed after a year because the extreme cold in Alaska coupled with the metal in his hip made for too much aching. I can see why you have a hard time planning suppers at your house. So much coming and going! What a great life you are leading!!
CAROL - Your apricot chix sounds good. I sort of made up a recipe for that and served it with/over rice. Then, because I had a lot of home canned plums, I started using them instead of apricots. Still delicious! And you are right - Dog needs to learn how to sleep in until 5:00am! But when we travel over two time zones - and back - and sometimes have Daylight savings time changes tossed into the mix, and I get up by 0500 anyway, there's probably no chance. Besides, he has back-up in the form of one very insistant cat. And so we get early starts on our days! lol! He's not so bad when we are at home. Life in the trailer is a bit different.
IRISH - did your washer come? I meant to tell you that Mary Q has a washer with no agitator. It's a big washer! She let me do laundry when we visited two years ago. She keeps a big stick handy to reach the bottom of the washer because it's so deep. She's afraid of falling in head first!
BECCA - are you any better today?
Well, I had supper plans all typed out - and 2 alternatives. But Bill came up with yet another idea. We bought some chicken taquitos at Costco. They were giving out samples and they were pretty good. Served with guacamole. So we'll have those and a big salad on the side.

Hi Mary What!!!! Nov. 14?????? Now I know you must mean Jan 14. LOL
Our ham was wonderful. We will have ham sandwiches for quite a long time. LOL. When that turkey breast get thawed, I will be setting a grand table feast. Didn't get to do it for the holidays, so we will enjoy it now.
I am making strips into rectangle 13 1/2 x 14 1/2 which sewn together makes just the right size for the top. 84 by 64. Fabric is red and white.
Biggest thing about lotto for me is that I have not great stash. Some patterns just work for me. Some I have to buy a bit of fat ages.
Hugs

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Jan 5th
Good morning! I’m overstuffed like a sofa into my fleece-lined jeans, wool socks, a long-sleeved tee shirt and big sweater… the “feels like” at 8:00 was only 1 degree. I know… I’m whining. I’m sure it’s colder for MaryQ, Judi, Lea and half this forum, but I have trouble in cold and winter. If it’s sunny, I’m much better. However, after the sun goes down… I FREEZE! Yep, it’s psychological, I know. The temperature in the house is exactly the same day and night year around. I swear I’m a snake under my skin, or at least I was one in a former life… Could I be an alien? I just want to lay on my warm rock in the daytime and soak up the sun, then I want to crawl under my warm rock for the night. On the Chinese zodiac, you’d think I should be a snake. Not so… I’m a CHICKEN!!! Isn’t that appropriate. The Chinese New Year is on January 28, and it will be the Year of the Chicken!!!
I love watching the birds out my window! I filled the feeder, the porch rail, floor, and bucket lid three times yesterday! They really are busy in cold weather. Today will be no exception.
As for the log cabin blocks… I always have a hard time wrapping my head around where I am on them and going the right way, not to mention that I needed the EXACT seam allowance. I’d already cut strips, so I didn’t have enough fabric to go cut some 2.5” strips too. I got six blocks made. Yesterday I used the scraps and am making improv-pieced pot holders for my niece’s (late) Christmas.
Jana—great news on the surgery!!!
My washer has no agitator. It took a little getting used to, but it works fine.
I am not supposed to wake up early here… DH doesn’t want anyone (4 or 2 footed) to wake him before 8. I’ve gotten used to it. Sometimes I wake up earlier and try to be quiet, or I’ve learned to sleep in… sometimes super late. If there’s no sun… no alarm! I really need my 8 hours sack time.
Vel--I like to use stash for lotto, but since this was benefitting the comfort quilts, I purchased some reds. It’s not a color I keep on hand. I have ham… that may be dinner tonight… sandwiches and chips. I might do grilled ham and cheese…
Dinner—ham & cheese, or something with beef… maybe stroganoff. I have a box of hamburger helper.
Bon appétit!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Jan 5th
I'm back
the kids wanted to watch "Home" so 2 are watching that and one is asleep for the moment
trying to figure out what to make for lunch. We're out of leftovers so I know it has to be new food for supper. ....
Chickie LOL I'm sorry but I can't help but chuckle
the kids watch a show where somebodyputs their arm over their face and melts backwards over a rock and stuff and that was the visual I had of you "whining" I wish I could remember which movie it is LOL too funny.
I think I'll look for chicken or pork chops in the freezer for supper
I need to browse a cook book for something different
Tina

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Jan 5th
Good early afternoon from a very cold, getting colder and there are tiny white things starting to fall from the ski...I have a feeling, my Mom, up in Heaven is doing some dusting.....I can picture her with her dust rag in one hand and the furniture polish in the other.....
Oh Mary, I'm also hoping you mean Jan and not Nov....You know, if you stay away that long, someone would surely have to "rescue" your stash at home and I know just the crew who would volunteer.....
Yes the washer came yesterday and I spent most of the afternoon, installing and playing with it....I think I'm beginning to think like a man, I was so determined to do it myself and not ask for help, lol...And then I was afraid to leave it, hoping I got everything tight enough...But, it's great and it will take some getting used to...I thought I might have to run to the store for some HE soap but my big old jug says HE on it, thank goodness...Along with my plumbing, I put a new exhaust vent on the dryer, changed the belt on the downstairs sweeper and cleaned most of the basement...It was a "good feeling" kind of day...AND I didn't fall into the washer, which made it even better....So, Mt. Washmore is becoming a smaller hill and the sheets are now back on the spare beds....
Chickie, the chicken! Some how, I can't picture you being chicken at anything....But, I know how you feel about the cold and so happy and feel so much better when the sun is shining.....In our house, we have no alarm, never did, and thank goodness the furbabies like to sleep in....Jim used to get up very early but now, most times, he's content to just stay in bed, again, thank goodness.....
Jana, the surgery news is great! And I'm sure, he'll bet using that hand real quick..It is amazing what they can do with plates, screws and all those other things they need....Back, when I was 13 (just a few years ago), when I shattered my femur, they put me back together with 3 screws and those are still in there...That part of my leg has never ached but let me tell you about my other aches, lol....But, it really is good to hear Stu will be fine.....
Tina, It sounds like your "vacation" is over...But, I am constantly amazed at all you do....You are something!
Vel, It sounds like you have been eating good....Ham sandwiches, yum, and then a turkey feast, another big yum......Would love to see your red and white quilt when it's done.....
Along with the last of the laundry, I'm really cleaning the fridge...Found a little roast beef and made a pot of veggie soup...Still had a little ham, so that's going into the freezer...Did take the lights out of the window and gathered up the little that I had gotten out....Of course the tree is still standing in the corner and by now, the fur kids think it's to be there and like to nap under it..Heck, I might be the 1st to have my tree up for next year....
One sad note, my feral cat, Jake, hasn't been around for 3 days...He was the 1st one I took care of each morning and he was so vocal, as if he was telling me how much he appreciated his warm bed and breakfast...I just hope, he isn't hurt or sick somewhere...I just wish I could have gotten him tame enough to bring him inside.....But, I'll keep looking and hoping......
For our dinner, veggie soup and lots of it....And for afters, we have some very good ice cream..........
You all have a great day....
Happy eating.............

Good Evening!
Dark and still snowing. Michael had to shovel off the top of the trash cans, about 18 inches of snow just so he cound move them to the street for pickup in the morning.
Kate is cooking tonight - hamburger patty with gravy over rice and peas. Gracie is not a fan of mashed potatoes, so she does love rice. It is a staple here in this house.
Stu's is doing very well today. He is only using Advil for the pain. The plate and screws will be there for the rest of his life. They could be removed if they start to cause pain but the doctor doesn't expect that as a problem. Now I just need to teach him to parallel parks in all this Snow! Yeah, right! LOL
Well dinner is ready,
Enjoy,
Jana
