SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Dec 30

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Dec 30, 2016 2:21 am

Happy New Year's Eve Eve,

This is the day my dad died 22 yrs ago. He got pretty ornery his last year or two, and took all his anger and frustrations out on me, but I still miss him and wish I had him back. Though, at 104, he'd probably be even angrier by now!

Yesterday I spent the morning very carefully cutting red and white strips for ten log cabin blocks in the January lotto and the afternoon getting them half-finished. Then Teresa mentioned measurements in the sew-in this morning. Made me take a second look at my strips. Argghh!! I'd cut them all 2-1/2" instead of 2-1/4". So now I guess I'll just make two more blocks, sew them together, and ship them to Tina for a comfort quilt. And then start over on the lotto blocks. Unfortunately, one of the projects I brought with me is - you guessed it! - red and white log cabin blocks! I think I may be putting that project off until I'm over r/w L.C. blocks! lol!!

Today Bill wants to go back to Costco because he forgot to look at something there. No biggie - it's only a 45 mile round trip. Then he wants to go to IKEA. There are some little shelves we want for the trailer - kind of like spice racks but only $3 - And IKEA is having a sale and it's just down the pike from us. So it may be a road kind of day.

IRISH - so what kind of pizza is Nick's specialty? Sounds delish! And have you ever washed clothes in a creek? I have! LDH#2 (Roy) and I used to have a brush-cutting tractor and we had a contract to maintain forest service roads up in the national forest. We lived in a tiny trailer in the woods, kids in a tent. It was many MANY miles to any civilization. Nothing to do but wash the clothes in the river. Wasn't as glorious as it sounds . . .

CAROL - yes, my brother, Al, has two stents, one on each side. He says they don't hurt but do cause bleeding if he does too much, so he's laying low. Hard for him to do. He wants to be out cutting wood for next winter. He has them for another 3 weeks, I think.

CHICKIE - it doesn't take long to get hooked on an i-phone, does it! If you do lotto blocks, don't make the same mistake I did!

JANA - funny that you would get Irish's eagles on your news! We didn't see them here and we're closer!

TINA - heads up. Through every fault of my own, you will be getting another completed comfort quilt top. Sigh. Then I hope to make some more, correct, blocks for the lotto.

BECCA - How are you doing? Thinking of you daily.

Tonite we were talking amongst us about having breakfast for supper. But now, pizza is sounding appetizing to me, thanks to Irish's Nick. So we'll see what shows up on our plates tonite.

Yum!

Good morning!

I was looking at the lotto measurements and was “Huh???” when I saw 2.25” for the measurement. So much easier to cut everything 2.5” and have a bigger block, but it is what it is. I need to wash some fabrics and work next week on some blocks.

Costco and Ikea sound like a fun road trip to me—always fun things to see at both stores. Enjoy!

I’m trying to picture you washing clothes in the river. I’d have to jump in, wash with clothes on, climb out and drip dry… call it good.

Mary—I didn’t get an i-phone, just upgraded my Samsung. Next time, an i-phone… maybe. Red and white is a lovely comfort quilt… when the blocks go to Tina, she will have to watch and keep the two sizes separate.

Becca—hearts are with you! I hope some day we can eliminate cancer… It’s so brutal for the patient and loved ones.

I’m taking Tasha home today, so no sewing. Guess we will have leftovers from last night when I return…

Bon appétit!

Good afternoon from wintery, cold, lightly snow covered, SW. Pa....One day we have summer then the next we have winter...You know the saying, stick around.......

Mary, Thank goodness you can still use the strips you cut...With my luck, it would be garbage, lol...I agree about red being a good comfort color, I think, really cheers a person...AND a trip to both Costco and IKEA, WOW....Will you be having the Swedish meatballs and the "berry" drink for lunch? Terry and the boys, love IKEA and I love their cinnamon rolls.....I think you should get some and think of me with each bite, lol.....
No I have never washed clothes in the creek but it might come to that....You know, you have led a very exciting life, full of adventure....Love to read your happenings....

Oh Becca, I wish I could just wrap you up in a huge hug and take away all the hurt...With all the "smart" people in this world, why can't they find a cure???And then with you not feeling well, just not right! Hope the meds kick in full strength and you're back to feeling fit, real soon.....My prayers are with you and your family, my friend....

Chickie, So, your fun is coming to an end, darn....A young person brings so much joy to the house, hard to see them go home...I think your way of washing clothes in the creek would be kind of fun, IF the water wasn't too deep and of course it would have to be heated and no slimy things...Not asking for much!

Jana, glad to see you let those TV people know the story about Ozzie....I, along with so many other people, really think M15 should be named...BUT, the owners of the property feel it humanizes them too much???? The nest in the Panhandle calls their couple, Romeo and Juliet and I think the nest near Washington, calls their's Mr. President and First Lady, or something like that....

We had to do some quick exchanging yesterday and then home for our dinner.....
Nick's pizza, yesterday, was to die for! He makes a yeast crust, bakes it a little before putting the toppings on, bakes it some more, then adds more cheese...This thing had to have been about 2 inches thick, with toppings...It was unbelievable..I might just have to keep him around, just for his pizza.....Last night the fellows had a movie night, not sure what they saw but, said it was good...Today, they have gone to Kohl's and then stopping at Aldi for me...I sure didn't want to go out in the cold but kids don't seem to mind...Of course when they left, I gave them my extra Kolh's cash and charge card so this might be a very long shopping trip, lol.....

For tonight's dinner, I'm thinking some left over ham, scalloped potatoes and the green bean casserole that didn't make it the other night.....I am having a ball cooking for these guys..(never thought I'd say that).......

Happy eating...........

EAGLE UPDATE:

WE HAVE A PIP! It was noticed yesterday afternoon and the poor little eaglet is still working to get it's self out of the shell....Not sure if this is really the 1st egg (the one that had been buried) or maybe this is the 2nd egg and the 1st one isn't viable....This is so exciting....It is amazing to see all the posts and see the countries where the viewers live...The last time I looked, there were over 57,000 viewers, patiently waiting for this hatch.......
