SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Dec 21st

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Dec 21, 2016 1:20 am

Good morning! The shortest day of the year! and tomorrow we will start gaining daylight! Spring is coming! In just a few weeks, my crocus at home will be up!

We got all our shopping done yesterday and then some! We were at Costco and they had Le Crueset bakeware - just one set - on clearance. The display set. Autumn's birthday is Jan 10 and she loves L.C. cookware and has been slowly collecting it for years. This was even ALMOST her color. She has 'Flame' and this was a shade darker red, but we got it anyway - 4 different baking dishes and 2 came with lids. I even managed yesterday, to sneak buy a couple small things for Bill. an indoor/outdoor thermometer and a small joke gift - a toy red pick-up with a perfect tailgate! I spent the afternoon wrapping and now the gifts are all stowed in our underneath storage bins, ready for Christmas. (and birthday). Today, finally, is laundry. Will be a big deal for sure.

CHICKIE - here's hoping you are much improved today! I didn't see the KC game. What was crazy about the ending?

JANA - how is your mouth feeling today? Soup on your menu?

BECCA - so sorry to hear that your DB isn't doing well. Hugs to you, my friend!! But I hope your twins will be a sweet distraction for you. Can't wait to hear their names!

IRISH - are you all dried out from your flood yet? and when does Terry get there? I know you said, and of course, I forgot. But I do recall (I think) you saying they would be there for 9 days.

TINA - how are your parents doing? Everyone gathering at your house again? What's on the menu?

CAROL - always fun to find out what you are cooking!

CAROLE - how is your brother doing? Is he with you at your DD's in SC or does he have his own family there?

VELDA - will there be a party at your park this weekend? Potluck?

I went to get our chili out of the freezer last night and realized we'd eaten it already the second night on the road! We ended up with PB&J's. so happy I have an easy-going hubby! But he'd had a hot lunch, so he was good. Tonite, we are grilling burgers. And having a small salad on the side. and I checked. The burgers are there! It's supposed to be nearly 70* here so it will be good grilling weather.

I expect the majority of you won't be grilling outside tonite! So what's your fall-back plan?

Good morning!
Today is grocery shopping. It will be warmer than it has been all week, so I plan to get out. I’ll also deliver gifts to Mom and for my sisters.

Mary—what a great bargain you found!!! Hope your “joke” doesn’t get thrown at you!!! I’m sure that tailgate is kind of a sore spot, but Bill also has a great attitude.

I’m still trying to be much improved. I keep telling myself that I’m not going to be sick. I think I’ll drop Mom’s present at my sister’s so I don’t expose Mom to anything.

The game: KC was ahead by a point with 5 sec to go in the 4th… Tennessee had the ball at the 50 yard line on 4th down. They went for a field goal… missed. BUT… KC had called a time out BEFORE the kick. Time out taken. RE-kick… GOOD!!! Tennessee WON! It was -2 in Kansas City at the game, and I’ll bet the temperature in the locker room after was about 50 below. It certainly couldn’t get much worse. To top it off, Titan’s kicker had been with KC in the past… Salt in the wounds… I don’t get to watch much football any more, but that was quite exciting. I’m sure those KC fans that had stuck it out in Arrowhead stadium were totally numb. I’ve been there for a couple of games, and the wind chill is BRUTAL! Can’t imagine the actual temperature being -2 and then adding the wind chill. Such a day!

Mary—the other night I told DH there was cake in the freezer for his afters. He went out and looked. Came back empty-handed. Said he had looked in the little freezer and the deep freezer. I was sure I’d put a small cake out there… I had better luck than you did… I went out to exactly where I thought it was and brought it back in for DH. (That’s the last one… need to restock.)

Dinner last night was so good… repeating it tonight… pork chops, fried apples, Brussels sprouts (for me), baked beans and salad. DH had his pound cake with fried apples on top as a spread. I need more apples at the market today…

Bon appétit!

Good morning :)
Just a quick post, I've gotta quilt Jazmyne's Christmas quilt while Frankie is playing Lego with the boys.
Mom and Dad are coming for Christmas though I don't know when, I think it's a surprise for all concerned LOL. We're having pretty much the same as Thanksgiving. Holly and the kids will be here and Kevin and Maria. We're still praying he gets the job with the state. .. so far no news.
I gotta run. Not sure what's for supper because I'm running so sorry on time it'll be whatever I decide last minute.

Good Morning Everyone!
I actually thought I wrote a message yesterday, guess I didn't send it. oops! Today dinner will be Parmesan Chicken with Potatoes and Broccoli.

Maryz - Yesterday was a repeat of the night before. I am feeling much better and more normal. I actually went shopping yesterday and was able to walk around without becoming exhausted.

Becca - Good luck at the eye doctor. I think I remember you had a good report last time so I think you will this time too.

Chickie - Sorry you have been so sick.

Jana - Glad you got crowned.

I want to get some sewing done in the hour I have before leaving for a Doctor's appointment. This one is to see the urologist to make sure everything is back to normal.

Have a great day!
Carol

Good morning!

My tooth is doing great! No pain! Still, the DDS told me to take it easy for a few days, so I will make soup or chili tonight.

Sewing like a mad woman on a mission. I have to get Emma's dress done. The only thing she has asked is, I'm getting a Grandma dress? Yes, even if I am up all night!

Mary - love the red pickup toy! I did something similar last night, found Michael's favorite mechanical pencil and bought him those for his stocking.

Still need another run back to the grocery store, they only had one of the two prime rib roasts that I need for Saturday's dinner. They have the roast, but the butcher had gone home for the night and I needed it cut to the right size.

Well, sewing Awaits!
Enjoy,
Jana

Good early afternoon from a semi sunny but still very cold, SW. Pa....Once again, thank goodness for the sun....

Mary, you do seem to find the good bargains, don't you? My Kathy is like that, always comes up with something original or different...And she takes a lot of thought when getting her gifts...Speaking of, I'm sure there's another big box or 2 waiting at the PO...She sends the kid's gifts here and I get to be stand in Santa....

Chickie, What an exciting game, more so if you're on the wining end but what a heart breaker for the losers....AND my dear, I think your "sickness" has come east...Yesterday, I couldn't stop sneezing, took some "non drowsy" pills and 1/2 hour later was sound asleep on the couch...But, no sneezing or runny nose, lol....Today is much better but I'm staying away from those pills...

Tina, there you are busy as ever...Thank goodness for Legos, right? My kids would spend hours and hours, in fact, they still do when we drag out the bin..(and the kids are all grown)...You know good things come to those who wait and I'm sure Kevin will get his job...I always throw in an extra prayer or 2....

Jana, And you too, always busy....All you gals make me tired....I'm sure you'll get Emma's dress done, have no doubt...Happy to hear about the tooth and for sure, stick with that soup.....

Carol, without the e, good luck with your doctor's appointment, hope it's a good report....

Becca, been thinking of you also....Hoping your appointment is a good one....Also hoping your day is a nice peaceful one....

Our day is going to be good, I just have a feeling...Of course, so far I'm not even dressed, just because Jim stayed in bed and I didn't want to disturb him....Of course if it was up to me, I'd live in my jammies...We do have to make a couple of trips today and/or tomorrow..Besides needing lots and lots of food, I have "online orders" to pick up at Kohls and Kmart and also need to pick up a couple of gift cards......
Last night I was trying to finish my sister's attic window/panel and ran out of thread while doing the binding...So, that's also on the schedule today and then get that room back to being a bedroom....The kids will be here tomorrow night!

Tonight's dinner is going to be spaghetti and meatballs...Kathy sent me some of her homemade sauce and I'm dying to try it...BUT, like a couple of others with missing food, I have no spaghetti, yet....But, that will be taken care of this afternoon in one of the trips....She also sent cookies and that will be for afters..(if I can hide them long enough from Jim).....

Happy eating..............

Eagle Update: There have been 2 hatches in the Panhandle nest in Florida...Those babies are the cutest little bundles of fuzz you've ever seen, and so alert for being so young....The nest in Ft. Myers will hopefully will be on PIP watch soon (this is when they 1st break through the shell)...Sometimes the hatching, between that 1st tiny hole until finally out of the shell, could take up to 24 hours...It's hard work for that little eaglet and the adult eagles don't help in any way....Always so exciting to see a new life emerge....
