Supper Club, December 13,2016

Post by carole » Tue Dec 13, 2016 2:58 am

Good morning,

What to cook, what to cook!!!!! Tonight we will be having chicken and dumplings .
DB does NOT eat left overs, so each day is new food. Still has not outgrown this and he is 77 yrs old so doubt if he ever will. Lol. He is doing well and listening (some times) to his baby sister. Lol. Took him back to the surgeon yesterday to get staples out and he can travel to S.C. with us for Christmas. He will fly back to FL on the 26th and his buddy will pick him up. So it is good to be me!!!!

So glad that MaryZ is safely in TX and settling in for a few months. We stayed in Prescott for 4 months this summer and it was too long for me. A month or two is okay in one place in a 40 foot motor home, but longer is not my thing. I missed my home and especially my sewing room..

Hope this is a really good day for Irish and Becca. Think of you each and every day and include you in my daily prayers .

Better get this on line, before the men call me for something (really important, i am sure).

Good morning!

Carole—I’ve heard of DHs who don’t do leftovers… Pity the wives!!! My DH would have to starve if he didn’t eat re-runs. My late DH would not eat anything that resembled a casserole with more than one ingredient. He liked his food not touching. I gave him a divided Corelle plate… like a little kid at cafeteria. I know what you mean about trying to teach them new tricks… So glad your DB is doing better, even if he doesn’t eat leftovers!

I’m not sure I could be away from home that long, either. I miss my “roots”. I really have the best of all worlds… a cabin on the pond… lots of wildlife and seclusion when I want it… a federal reservoir and reserve next door… hiking trails in our woods… fishing in the ponds… it’s like being on vacation every day… right here at home. It’s good to be me!

Dinner tonight… more of the same from last evening. I made the smoked Amberjack into a “salad” and had it on toast for sandwiches. DH really enjoyed it, as of course did I. We are going to DH’s annual Area Agency on Aging governing board Christmas lunch, so a light supper will be ideal.

Bon appétit!

Good afternoon!

I will be taking Stu out to drive in a little while - more practice. Our good news on his hand went south after a CT scan. The hand isn't healing as fast as we thought, so surgery is now scheduled for January 4th. It is out patient and about 6 months to heal totally. So by the time we are done, it will be over a year since he broke it. He is a good sport about the setback too.

I did chinese last night and there are leftovers, so we will have those as well as whatever remains in the refrig. Kate abd Aaron did Subway last night for their dinner and now Kate is home sick. She just can't eat out anymore.

Tomorrow we will come up with new food.

The owners of the horse that died yesterday, took care of everything and buried him in the field near where he passed. Strange to me, but i am a city girl that now lives in the country, many things are strange!

Enjoy,
Jana

Good Evening Everyone!
I am happy to report we had dinner. It was a Spinach Lasagna that had been in the since last Christmas Eve. It was well wrapped and tasted excellent.

I have been cleaning and decorating. The tree is up and decorated and most of the gifts are wrapped. I have surgery tomorrow to remove the stent so probably will not be here. The surgery is scheduled for 7:30 a. and I need to be at the hospital (outpatient) at 6:00 a.m. Very early indeed!

Jana - Ethan must be adorable to watch conducting the orchestra! So sorry to hear Stu's hand hasn't healed and needs surgery.

Irish - (((HUGS))) I am so sorry you are having to go through this with Jim. My prayers are with you.

Maryz - Sorry to hear your brother isn't well. Yes, it is much too soon to have this happening again. I will remember him in my prayers also. Oh, that mishap with your trailer was a real dousy! Glad all of you are okay!

Becca - I like home too! You have had a lot going on lately and your posts sound a little more settled today. I hope so!

Chickie - I don't think I would survive without leftovers or planned overs as I like to say. Although I tend to re-heat rather than make a casserole. I do tend to change the starch and vegeable. Personally I like leftovers!

Carole - I like leftovers! Probably comes from being single until I was in my mid 40s. I sometimes am very glad for a meal that doesn't have leftovers, but most do. Good to hear your brother will be able to travel.

Have a great day everyone!
Carol
