SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Nov 19th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Nov 19, 2016 2:26 am

Good Morning,

Sorry to be a no-show yesterday. I just didn't have any computer time at all. But you all can gather at the table! Don't wait on me!

We have our wood-splitting/stacking job about half done. another 3 days should do it, but we all agree - NOT IN THE RAIN! So I think we'll get today off that.

Yesterday afternoon Tina (my sis) and I went shopping for all the food items we'll need for memorial, plus ordered sandwich and cookie trays from Costco. We're making salads ourselves because when we priced them ready made, we blanched. Just potato, pasta, and Watergate salads. This gathering will be outside with a bonfire. There will be a shelter to get under if it rains (and it's supposed to) and also my SIL and nephew are cleaning out my brother's machine shop. This was Jim's life and seems an appropriate send off to him.

CHICKIE - that is so funny about Doyal and the wood. They really don't want to listen to us, do they! And they are all the same - men. and still, they make our world go round!

TINA - You are the one who gets more done in a single day than SuperWoman could manage in a week! I don't know how you do it!

BECCA - All the fires and now a suspicious package? Things never let up for you. But so happy to hear your personal air has cleared up.

IRISH - Ireland?!?! and you have to think about it?? It is so beautiful there! We got to go for a couple of days back in Ought-three. We were in Galway, saw the Cliffs of Mohr, and then drove across the country to Dublin where we caught a ferry to Wales. It is so green there. I do hope it all works out so you can go!

JANA - our church also has guilds that provide food for any event, especially funerals. And there is a hall there, too. But my SIL and nephew chose to have Jim's reception at their home and she just didn't know what to do about the food. So Tina and I took that off her hands.

tonite for supper we have been invited to my DD's in Bremerton. And we were told not to bring a single thing. I think it's going to be chicken tacos. It's a 30-mile drive, but I won't have to cook! Yay!! Plus, I get to see my DD and family. And tomorrow (Sunday) I'm putting on a crockpot full of homemade chili and making cornbread.

Got an idea for your supper yet?

Jana Hope Stu arrived safely & he gets help soon.Your Sarah is like my Beth. She can do anything to a house. It really helps to know all those things.

Chickie The wood story was a good one.Glad you didn't have to pick it all up again.lol

Tina Bless you as you help others.Your job of keeping little ones is enough to keep you hopping.

DH wants his bacon fix.We ate out yesterday bec we had so much to take care of.I had some delish broccoli n cheese soup with a turkey sandwich. Was quite tasty.Guess I was tired & hungry.

Good early afternoon from a very chilly, rainy, dreary, damp, yucky, SW. Pa.....AND we're even to get some of those nasty white things flying through the air, later today or tomorrow...Well, why not, it is November!

Mary, You know we can't really eat if you're not here, just not the same......You really do have your work cut out for you don't you but knowing you, things will be purrrfect and we all know, DB, Jim will be smiling down....Was so happy to get the text but as I told you, most of it didn't come through but got the gist of it...And some, most, times, I don't get pictures so not sure what you were sending me......Happy to hear you'll be seeing your DD........

Becca, I really, really wish we could send some of this rain to you, just the rain, not the yucky....It's just plain miserable up here but, we just flip the furnace switch a notch or 2 higher.....I have always wanted to visit Ireland and this might happen but we'll see....Kathy's DS was down last night and as soon as I mentioned the trip, he said, we're in...Still can't get over our Dan, the shy little fellow who always wanted to be Popeye, lol....Boy, right now a bowl of broccoli/cheese soup would taste so darn good...Haven't had that in a long time....

Maryq, I'm pretty much like you, hard to think of dinner food...But, then after hearing about Becca's soup, it's making me hungry.....

Yesterday we stopped at my sisters and she was baby sitting her GGGS who is only a few months old but oh so big....He is the cutest thing ever with very long hair and always smiling...So, I got my baby fix and am good for awhile.....And on the way home, would you believe the car pulled into the Subway parking lot...Do I have that car trained or what!

I think today will be an "ugly" day with some laundry thrown in for good measure....Jim had been extra quiet/mixed up this morning so he's gone back to bed for awhile....Really mixes up the fur kids when he goes back to bed...They aren't sure if they should get up and eat or what's happening....

Dinner might be clean out the fridge day...I know we have left over hot dogs and beans and I can always bake a spud or 2....Still thinking about those cinnamon rolls I wanted to do a few days ago so maybe this is the day...........

Happy eating..............

Good morning!

Stu is home safe and sound. His plane got in 35 minutes early! We were still on the road as it landed, but Michael dropped me off at the door and Stu had such a long walk from the gate to where we were, i still beat him by about 4 minutes. Sight to see, old fat lady hoofing it as fast as she could with a bouquet of balloons and a cane!

Dinner will jump in the basket while i am at Costco to get the birthday cake for tomorrow.

Mary - so glad you have the meal figured out. It will be a wonderful time together.

Irish- there are a few places I'd love to see, Ireland is close but it is Scotlabd. That would be a great trip for you to go to Ireland.

Becca - broccoli cheese soup is a favorite here.

Well, i need to go, we have a long list of shopping to do today - Costco, Sam's, 2 different train shops and a couple of other stores.

Enjoy,
Jana

Just finished our lunch, so I guess I can figure out supper now. LOL
Oh yes, Beef brats, beans, salad, and fruit.

Pretty simple, but yummy.

Mary, so glad you will be making your Texas trip after all. Safe travels and hope for good weather.

You sure are busy with all the food preparations for memorial. Good to have tonight off and no cooking.
Becca, chicken and broccoli sounds good.
Irish: cleaning out frig? Oh we used to call that "pot luck" when all the kids were home. and it usually ended up in a squabble. Favorites would go first. and someone would always say: I got dibs on --- LOL
Jana: Enjoy your time with Stu. What a picture, you with the balloons. But what a happy greeting it must have been!!

Hugs to all of you.

Good evening! Time to start thinking of fixing dinner here… almost 6:00 p.m. I work like “Chopped”—open the fridge and see what’s in my “basket”.

Irish—Ireland!!! Who-hoo!!! Definitely you must think seriously about going… WOW!!!

Mary—you are sooooo busy!!! Glad you aren’t killing yourselves making food.

Velda—we had venison brats last night for dinner. I made mine into a reubenesque sandwich with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, Sriracha mayo with capers (instead of 1000 island dressing), and Italian loaf instead of rye… my “basket” items…

Today, I was still in a Reuben mood, and I got Mom and I the Subway reubens. They were good. I also got her some cookies that she likes there.

Jana—Yahoo! Stu is home!!! I’m sure those balloons carried you!

Becca—life is always entertaining here. This afternoon Boomer was helping me put binding on Mom’s quilt… by sitting on the binding. I had to go get him some treats.

MaryQ—I’m always trying to figure out brunch here and Mary has dinner planned!

Time to go open the fridge… bon appétit!
